My Co-renting Lady Boss -
Chapter 31 - 0031: Who is robbing who?
Chapter 31: Chapter 0031: Who is robbing who?
Buying poison costs money, and the more lethal it is, the more expensive it’s bound to be. Given the hundred bucks Tang Ming had on him, he really wasn’t sure if he could afford it. So when he saw this group of robbers, his eyes lit up just as if he had spotted a flock of fat sheep.
"If I rob them, I’ll have the money."
Tang Ming thought to himself, and a smile suddenly spread across his face.
Upon seeing Tang Ming smiling for no apparent reason, the burly men wondered if the kid had gone crazy.
They had been in this business for quite some time, having seen those who kneel and beg for mercy, those who aren’t afraid of death, but they had never seen someone standing there with a mischievous grin.
"Hold on, don’t make a move yet. Ask him if he’s the person we’re looking for," said one of the muscular men, halting the advance.
Suddenly, the burly man yelled for a stop. The three thugs in front, who were holding weapons, instantly froze in their tracks as one with triangular eyes stepped forward, pointing a knife at Tang Ming.
"What’s your name, kid?" the thug asked loudly.
Tang Ming crossed his arms and laughed,
"What does my name even matter to you? Now hand over all the money you have on you, then scram, and I might consider sparing your lives."
"Fuck, quite the tough guy, huh?"
The thug was infuriated and was about to move in to lay hands on him.
The burly man behind quickly intervened,
"Let the kid get in the car. I’ll ask him myself. If he doesn’t agree, I’ll cut down this guy first." As he spoke, he pointed his knife at Liu Fei, who was beside them, still knocked out by sedatives. Tang Ming hesitated, realizing that being in the car would actually give him a closer range and thus an advantage. Consequently, he agreed, "Fine, I’ll go to the car with you. But make sure your men keep their word and don’t touch anyone else."
"Relax, we conduct our business without involving the innocents," the muscular man replied.
Hearing this, Tang Ming puzzled over it internally, thinking: Not involving the innocents, that sounds like these people have a specific target in mind. Could it be me?
Tang Ming followed the muscular man into a van parked nearby, with three thugs standing guard outside. It appeared he was now in the wolf’s den—with no hope of escape.
But Tang Ming was very relaxed; taking on these men was an advantage for him, especially inside the van, where he could take down the robbers’ leader in an instant.
"So, what do you really want? I can see you’re not just here to rob."
Tang Ming looked at the muscular man and the knife in his hand as he asked.
"Of course not. Someone hired us to deal with someone, and it looks like it’s you, kid," the muscular man said with a sneer.
"Looking for me?" Tang Ming thought over it—everything fit with his conjecture. However, he was puzzled about who exactly was pulling the strings behind these men. Was it Ma Gangqiang or Chen Cang? They arrived so quickly, which didn’t quite make sense.
"Tang Ming!" the muscular man suddenly shouted.
"The boss is right here!" Tang Ming, having confirmed that these people were after him, didn’t bother beating around the bush and responded directly.
However, the muscular man thought his ruse had worked. He believed that by calling out Tang Ming’s name, Tang Ming would reflexively respond, allowing him to gloat whilst swinging his cleaver at Tang Ming, "You’re trying to be clever with me, eh? I’ll chop you to pieces!"
The muscular man didn’t want to kill anyone on the street for fear of being seen, so he purposively lured Tang Ming into the van, planning this all along.
The space inside the car was cramped, and he had a knife in his hand. With a sudden burst of action, few could withstand him.
Moreover, there were three brothers standing outside, which could be said to be foolproof. After killing someone, they’d use the car to take the body away without leaving a trace, creating the perfect crime scene. What he didn’t expect was that Tang Ming was far from ordinary.
Just as the machete was about to fall on Tang Ming’s head, the burly man’s face twisted fiercely, with a hint of bloodthirsty excitement.
But he suddenly found that a hand moved faster than his knife, grabbing his wrist directly, and a sharp pain shot through. He could barely hold the machete in his hand.
"It hurts, it hurts..."
The burly man was sweating profusely,
Tang Ming’s other hand directly took the machete from his hand, then placed it on his neck, rubbing it a few times, and asked,
"Who sent you to kill me?"
"I don’t know..."
The burly man felt a terrifying sensation. Just a second ago he had the absolute upper hand, but a second later, the knife had transferred into Tang Ming’s hands. He shook his head frantically.
"You don’t know?"
Tang Ming smiled and said,
"If you won’t talk, that’s fine. I can carve out another mouth on your neck, and maybe that one will speak?"
The blade of the machete had already cut into the skin on the burly man’s neck, and blood was seeping out. The guy didn’t even frown and kept silent.
But as more blood flowed, the burly man started to panic. He wasn’t truly fearless of death: "I really don’t know, someone hired us through an intermediary, explicitly targeting someone from Tianjiao High School named Tang Ming. As for who the employer is, I have no clue."
"I’ll believe you this time."
Tang Ming thought it over and believed this to be plausible, then said, "Regardless, you came looking for trouble with me, and if I did nothing, I’d seem afraid of you guys. So, hand over all the money you have on you."
"Ah."
The burly man fumbled in his pockets. Aside from a jar of sedatives, he had only a few small bills, not even totaling twenty bucks.
"So poor? How do you even manage to mix in society?"
Tang Ming said irritably.
"It’s tough being a boss these days too, you know. It’s all cash on delivery and free shipping now. I have to deliver your body before I get paid!"
The burly man pleaded with a mournful face, "You’re so awesome, boss; you won’t miss this little bit of money, right?... How about this, you ask those three to give you the money. I need to stop the bleeding, or I might bleed to death."
"Heh, I can help with that."
Tang Ming grabbed the handle of the knife and knocked the burly man out cold inside the car with a fierce hit. Then he shook the wound on his neck, and the blood flow stopped immediately.
Tang Ming directly opened the car door. The three guys standing outside were relaxedly smoking. The first skinny man Tang Ming had knocked out was now waking up. Seeing Tang Ming stepping out of the car, unaware if their big brother inside was dead or alive from the bloodstain on his chest, he urgently said, "That kid killed the big brother."
"Ah!"
The other three turned their heads, saw the scene of Tang Ming exiting the car, and furiously shouted, "Chop up that bastard to avenge big brother!"
Tang Ming lunged forward swiftly, using his fists and feet. He flew up and drove a knee into one man’s chest, knocking him to the ground, then dodged an attack from an iron rod wielded by another man, retaliating with a fist that also floored his assailant.
Another guy, wielding a machete, didn’t dare to approach upon seeing Tang Ming’s ferocity.
Tang Ming laughed, "Continue."
The man, holding his breath, charged, but Tang Ming kicked him down effortlessly. Writhing in pain, clutching his chest on the ground, the three didn’t last more than a hit each and no longer had the courage to continue fighting.
