Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Looking for Trouble?
"Brother Ming, let’s not go eat yet; let’s rescue Xia Wei’er first."
The fatty pleaded with a pitiful expression.
"What’s going on?"
Tang Ming asked in confusion.
"Normally, Xia Wei’er goes home for lunch, but that guy Qin Haitao insists on having someone stop her, asking her out to eat at a restaurant. Now Xia Wei’er is trapped in the classroom; she can’t leave, and she doesn’t want to have lunch with that guy. She’s almost crying out of frustration,"
the fatty explained anxiously.
"This is happening?"
Tang Ming stood up and said, "Let’s go take a look; I want to see who’s so daring to commit wrongdoing in broad daylight."
Following the fatty, Tang Ming arrived at the other end of the corridor, outside the classroom where Xia Wei’er was.
At the moment, two boys with trendy hairstyles stood at the classroom door, about one meter seventy in height, thin and frail, with accessories around their necks and on their hands. They wore all sorts of trendy necklaces and rings, looking very cool, and both had cigarettes pinched in their hands, clearly showing disdain for the school’s rules.
Seeing the fatty and Tang Ming approaching, the two shot over an ill-intentioned glance.
One of the students with longer hair cursed with an air of delinquency, "Not eating after school and just hanging around here for what?"
If this were yesterday, the fatty would definitely be scared stiff and scurry away immediately, but now, with Tang Ming backing him up, he got heated up and pushed forward, yelling just as loudly, "What we do, is none of your damn business."
"Wow, acting tough, huh?"
The long-haired student tossed away his cigarette butt, looking at the fatty with disdain in his eyes, and then took a few steps forward.
At that moment, Tang Ming also stepped up and said to the long-haired student, "Haven’t seen you before, are you new here?"
"What’s it to you?"
Said the long-haired student, "If you’re here to cause trouble today, how are we going to settle this?"
"How do you want to settle it?"
Tang Ming was unfazed. These two students were pretty arrogant, considering just walking by was taken as looking for trouble.
Inside the classroom at that moment, Xia Wei’er was already feeling impatient, her gaze shifting away from her textbook just in time to see Tang Ming outside the door.
"He’s back."
Xia Wei’er felt a surge of joy inside her, as if she had seen the first light of dawn.
Quickly gathering her textbooks, Xia Wei’er’s courage swelled, and she walked straight out of the classroom.
Then, another student with short hair at the classroom door stopped Xia Wei’er with a grin, saying, "Sister-in-law, Brother Tao is still waiting for you to have lunch."
"Who’s your sister-in-law? Don’t talk nonsense,"
Xia Wei’er glared at the guy.
The fatty chimed in as well, "Exactly, have some shame."
"Damn fatso, are you looking for a beating?"
The short-haired student, not daring to do anything to Xia Wei’er, wasn’t so polite to the fatty and charged over to hit him.
The fatty got so scared that he immediately hid behind Tang Ming. Tang Ming reacted quickly, pushing the short-haired student several steps away with one hand: "You really want to fight?"
"Damn it, beat the crap out of him, Jiangzi."
The long-haired student swung his arm and directly aimed a kick at Tang Ming’s abdomen.
Such minor characters didn’t catch Tang Ming’s eye at all. He dodged the kick with a swift body shift, then lunged forward with a punch and a kick, effortlessly knocking the two guys to the ground.
"Trash, Wei’er, don’t be afraid of them. I can take on a hundred of these losers with one hand!"
Tang Ming shrugged.
Xia Wei’er nodded, sneaking a shy glance at Tang Ming. A few days apart, and he was still taking care of her like always.
In comparison, Qin Haitao seemed rather sleazy and excessive. Xia Wei’er felt her skin crawl at the sight of him, as if facing a big Gray Wolf ready to pounce and drool all over her, swallowing her whole at any moment.
Xia Wei’er might not have known much about relations between men and women, but she did have some understanding. Nowadays, the bad students in the school were chasing girls for one thing only, so thinking of Qin Haitao made her feel nauseous.
At the thought, Xia Wei’er’s face started to turn red, and she felt a bit embarrassed.
"I should go home now; my mom is waiting for me to have dinner."
"Sure."
Tang Ming nodded, while Fatty was eagerly giving him signals, almost shouting out, ’Why the hell aren’t you offering to walk her home, bro?’
Perhaps influenced by Fatty’s comical gestures, Tang Ming finally had an epiphany and said, "Right, I’m going to eat at the snack street too. We can go together."
Upon hearing this, Fatty slapped his forehead, thinking: That’s Ming for you, always so seamless with his excuses.
At that moment, in a high-level restaurant at the school, Qin Haitao sat in a booth utterly bored. Suddenly, his two underlings rushed in frantically. Qin Haitao frowned in displeasure and said, "Didn’t I tell you to go fetch someone? Why did you come back yourselves?"
"Brother Tao, we were waiting for Xia Wei’er at the classroom door, but unfortunately, some annoying guy came out of nowhere, beat us up, and took her away,"
said the long-haired guy, trembling.
Qin Haitao’s expression darkened. Although he had reasonably good looks, fair skin, and somewhat of a fresh-faced handsome guy vibe, his eyes were too sinister. Once his face fell, his whole demeanor became effeminate and menacing, sending shivers down one’s spine.
"Daring to touch my people, they must be tired of living."
Qin Haitao stood up from his seat, exuding a murderous aura, and led his two minions out the door.
A male waiter in the restaurant hurriedly shouted at the backs of Qin Haitao and his group, "Sir, you haven’t paid for your drink yet!"
The waiter was about to chase after them when another waiter at the bar grabbed him, "What are you chasing for? That guy has a bad temper. Just a few days ago, he beat up Xiao Liu for saying one wrong thing. If you chase after him now, he might just land you in the hospital."
"But what about the drink?" the male waiter asked anxiously.
"What about it? Just go inform the boss about the situation. We are just employees here; no need to risk our necks,"
the other waiter said, then carried the tray of food from the bar to serve other customers.
At the school gate, Tang Ming, Fatty, and Xia Wei’er walked out laughing and talking, only to see a group of about seven or eight people approaching them.
All exuding a strong intention of aggression, they seemed to be students, but the hooliganism was quite evident.
The one leading them was Qin Haitao. He had called over his minions from another school on short notice; had there been more time, he probably could have summoned thirty or forty people without a problem.
Qin Haitao stood about 1.8 meters tall, almost resembling an adult. His long legs gave him a handsome appearance, and his suit outfit had made many schoolgirls’ hearts flutter.
But ordinary girls couldn’t grab Qin Haitao’s attention. Xia Wei’er was the one who caught his eye from the start, yet she had no interest in this kind of spoiled rich kid. His attempts to look cool and show off his wealth only served to repel her further.
