Chapter 131: Chapter 0131: To Forge Iron, One Must Be Strong

The troublemaking woman’s face turned red, admitting to herself she didn’t even know the name of the unlucky fellow on the stretcher, let alone what to call out.

Tang Ming said, "Don’t think I don’t know what you guys are here for, now tell me, who sent you to make trouble?"

"Kid, don’t talk nonsense. This popsicle made someone sick, and I’m here for compensation. Is that wrong?"

The troublemaking woman was a bit guilty but still shouted loudly.

"The popsicle indeed has a problem, but it’s not the cold drink shop’s fault. You should be very clear about how much laxative was put on this popsicle, shouldn’t you?"

Tang Ming said with a chuckle.

"What do I know? I don’t know anything."

The troublemaking woman got a bit panicky, sensing that the young man opposite her seemed to know something.

"You don’t know, huh?"

Tang Ming hummed, "You saw how many popsicles I just ate. If something happens to me, I’ll insist it was you who made me eat them. Think about the consequences for yourself."

"It was obviously you who ate them on your own. What does it have to do with me?"

The troublemaking woman became frightened when she heard this.

"Anyway, I’m just going to blame it on you. Consider it for yourself. If I have an issue later, you won’t be able to escape either."

Tang Ming said with a cold laugh.

Seeing an opportunity to leave, the troublemaking woman tried to walk away, but Tang Ming stopped her with one hand, a mysterious smile on his face.

"Damn it, how did I get involved with someone who doesn’t care about their life?"

The troublemaking woman was just paid to act, never expecting to meet someone like Tang Ming who dared to joke with his life.

A moment later, the troublemaking woman gritted her teeth and said, "Fine, I’ll tell you who it is, but don’t come looking for me if you have problems later."

"No problem."

Tang Ming nodded.

With no other choice, the troublemaking woman whispered something in his ear, then swiftly left with her group.

About ten minutes after these people had gone, Xia Wei’er and her mother were almost done with their work. The moment Tang Ming walked in, Wei’er’s mother expressed her gratitude, "Little Tang, we had to trouble you again this time."

"Auntie, there’s no need to be polite."

Tang Ming glanced outside, then said in a low voice, "This time, it seems those people were sent by the owner of the cold drink shop opposite us to make trouble. Be careful in the future."

"I suspected it was that cold drink shop too."

Xia Wei’er, drying her hands, came out from behind the counter and said,

"I had noticed earlier that the people from that cold drink shop were watching us from a distance and smirking, and those popsicles were certainly problematic. Did your stomach not hurt after eating them, Tang Ming?"

"Yeah, Little Tang, shouldn’t you get checked out at the hospital? Those popsicles should have had something in them."

Wei’er’s mother said, somewhat scared.

"Don’t worry, my stomach has a very strong digestive ability. Even if it were poison, I could digest it. And if there really were an issue, it should have happened by now. Don’t worry about me,"

Tang Ming said with a smile, "If they come to trouble you again, just tell me, and I’ll stand up for you."

"Little Tang, thank you so much."

Wei’er’s mother said gratefully, her eyes welling up with tears, "You’ve helped our family make popsicles and stood up for us. We really don’t know how to repay you."

"Heh, there’s no need for repayment."

After speaking, Tang Ming went straight to the shop’s operation room and started to make the diet popsicles.

Meanwhile, in the back office of the cold drink shop across the street, Boss Lei was cursing in frustration. In front of him stood a skinny young man in his twenties, who looked like a stick and didn’t dare to breathe too loudly.

"What kind of people did you hire, a bunch of useless idiots, who can’t even deal with a widow and orphan? You boasted to me about how professional they were at scamming, but I call bullshit."

After a long tirade, Boss Lei had released some of his anger. His mouth dry and feeling parched, he stopped to take a break and have a drink of water.

"Boss, I had no idea those guys would botch the job; they’ve been pulling stunts like this in Songlan City for ages and hardly ever screw up like this,"

the scrawny man said, "Boss, they said they won’t take the final payment."

"What? They still want a final payment? I’d be doing them a favor by not making them cough up the deposit."

Boss Lei put down his water glass and cursed furiously.

"Yes, Boss, you are right, those losers ought to be grateful for the deposit; they’re delusional if they think they’ll get the final payment,"

the scrawny man quickly agreed.

With that, Boss Lei’s anger subsided slightly. He lit a cigarette and muttered, "Damn it, we’ve failed several times to take down that ice cream shop. Could there be someone helping them behind the scenes?"

"Boss, now that you mention it, that might really be the case."

The scrawny man had an epiphany and voiced his agreement.

"Think about it; that poison was something we bought and prepared ourselves, and it’s potent stuff. That poor bastard just licked it a few times and almost collapsed in the restroom, dehydrated. When we got him to the hospital, the doctors said his symptoms were consistent with having consumed a strong laxative. Lucky for him, he didn’t eat much, or it could’ve been life-threatening. Our man got in trouble after eating some, but that kid on the other side ate it with no issues—frickin’ bizarre, I tell you."

Boss Lei spoke through a haze of smoke, his face full of bewilderment.

"Yeah, Boss,"

the scrawny man agreed, nodding, "which is why we failed. It really isn’t our or the scam team’s fault; the whole situation is just too strange..."

"Damn it, then what do we do next? Our customers are dwindling by the day; at this rate, I won’t even recoup my investment!"

Boss Lei was furious!

"Haha, Boss Lei, why so angry? How did you like the move I taught you?"

Chen Cang’s voice rang out as he walked in with Skinny Monkey and Xiao Jun.

"Oh, Young Master Chen..."

Boss Lei knew Chen Cang’s status and naturally didn’t dare to scold him, but still said, "Ma Gan, tell Young Master Chen about our situation!"

"Yes!"

The scrawny man hurriedly relayed the details of their failed plan to Chen Cang.

After listening, Chen Cang blinked in surprise and asked, "Damn it, that kid you mentioned who ate the popsicle, is his name Tang Ming?"

"It seems like that was his name. I was a bit distant and didn’t hear very clearly, but there was a fatso hanging around with him, and he seemed pretty tight with Xia Wei’er..."

The scrawny man quickly explained.

"Shit, that’s him! The bastard has a slow gut reaction! No wonder, you could feed him poison, and it would take ages for him to show any signs of it,"

Chen Cang remembered something and was beyond infuriated, "Forget it, I’ll teach you another trick, so devious, we’ll just have to go brute force!"

"Brute force? Didn’t you say direct force wouldn’t work?"

Boss Lei was startled and asked.

"Not that kind of brute force—it’s the type where you’ve got to be tough to hammer iron!"

Chen Cang waved his hand mysteriously as he spoke.

"Oh? Let’s hear it then!"

Boss Lei’s interest was immediately piqued.

Clearing his throat with a sly smile, Chen Cang said, "Our biggest advantage at the moment is our deep pockets. Why not take them on with a price war?"
