My Co-renting Lady Boss -
Chapter 130 - 0130: Treating to Ice Pops
Chapter 130: Chapter 0130: Treating to Ice Pops
"You say it’s not there just because you say so? You also claim your popsicles are made with some traditional Chinese medicine formula that supposedly helps with weight loss, but that’s all a lie! It’s just laxatives that make people lose weight. If you don’t compensate, we definitely won’t let this go,"
the woman shouted, flailing her arms around.
"You can have it tested by authoritative departments; our formula really is made of traditional Chinese medicine and it’s absolutely harmless to humans!"
Wei’er’s mom still fiercely argued back.
Seeing that the argument wasn’t getting anywhere, the woman sneered and pointed to a bucket of popsicles:
"Those popsicles in the bucket are from your family’s shop, right?"
To avoid being deceived, Wei’er’s mom walked over, picked up a popsicle from the bucket, looked at it several times before she hesitantly nodded and cautiously said,
"This should be ours..."
The Xia Family’s popsicles were unique because they had decided to save money by welding their own molds. The shapes were so unique they were not easy to imitate, plus the packaging was a thin layer of paper, used only by Wei’er’s mom, outdated as it was, but it became quite symbolic of their shop.
"Well, since you admit these are your popsicles and we indeed bought them from you, my husband started having diarrhea after eating these and has been in this condition since. If you claim there’s nothing wrong with your popsicles, why don’t you try one now?"
The woman’s eyes darted as she spoke, "Let’s see if anything happens to you after you eat it. If nothing happens, then we’re wrong, but if you don’t dare to eat it, that will prove there’s something wrong with your popsicles."
Just then, Tang Ming and Xia Wei’er arrived at the entrance of the ice cream shop. Seeing the commotion, Xia Wei’er couldn’t help but speak up, "You expect us to eat just because you say so? Who knows if you’ve tampered with the popsicle."
After all, Xia Wei’er was educated and quite astute, quickly spotting the potential trap.
Hearing this, the woman’s face slightly changed, and addressing the crowd around her, she said, "Everyone, see this? They are selling these popsicles, and now they won’t even eat them themselves. There must be something wrong with these popsicles. Do you still dare to buy and risk ending up in the hospital?"
That kicked off more discussion among the onlookers, and one by one, they became hesitant to buy the weight loss popsicles.
Seeing her business could be affected, Wei’er’s mom quickly yelled out, "These are our popsicles, there’s nothing to be afraid of eating them, I’ll eat one right now to show everyone."
"Mom, don’t eat it!"
Xia Wei’er hurriedly advised.
But Wei’er’s mom had made up her mind, knowing that if the business of diet popsicles went down, it would be disastrous for the family. Even if the popsicles had been tampered with, she had to grit her teeth and eat it to dispel everyone’s doubts.
Just as Wei’er’s mom was about to take a popsicle from the bucket, a figure dashed over and stopped right in front of her, it was Tang Ming. He smiled, snatched the popsicle from Wei’er’s mom and said, "When there’s a chance to eat a popsicle for free, I should take it.
"Xiaotang, don’t eat it, let Auntie eat."
Wei’er’s mom was immediately scared.
Holding the popsicle, Tang Ming smiled and said, "This popsicle costs dozens of dollars each, and I feel embarrassed eating for free in your shop, but now someone’s brought it straight to me, it’s like a gift. I’d be foolish not to eat it."
As soon as he finished speaking, Tang Ming swallowed the popsicle in just a few bites. Watching this, a cold smile appeared on the corner of the disruptive woman’s mouth.
The popsicle was indeed sold at the Xia Family’s dessert shop, but that woman had laced it with something—a potent laxative. Just one bite would send anyone to the hospital within five minutes.
That woman was just waiting for a few minutes to pass to watch the drama unfold, letting everyone see what happens after eating the popsicle. Naturally, the blame would fall on the Xia Family mother and daughter.
However, shortly after a few minutes had passed, Tang Ming was completely fine, his expression unchanged and still cheerful.
"Your stomach doesn’t hurt?"
The trouble-making woman directly asked Tang Ming with suspicion.
"Not at all."
After Tang Ming spoke, he took the bucket over and said with a grin, "I’ve had quite a few toxins in my body recently; eating more popsicles can detoxify, so I won’t be polite."
One popsicle after another disappeared into Tang Ming’s mouth, and within a few minutes, the bucket was empty.
The trouble-making woman was terrified. Seeing how Tang Ming was eating, her heart pounded with fear. These popsicles were filled with a very strong laxative. Eating just one was enough to send someone vomiting and rushing to the hospital; eating a whole bucket could be fatal.
But at this point, there was nothing she could do; the popsicles were already eaten. If this guy died, it wasn’t her problem anymore—she could just pin it on the Xia Family mother and daughter since there were no witnesses.
Everyone was watching Tang Ming, including Xia Wei’er and her mother. But under everyone’s gaze, Tang Ming was perfectly fine, even sitting on a nearby chair with his legs crossed.
After quite ten to twenty minutes, Tang Ming’s complexion was unchanged, and he didn’t even need to go to the restroom, showing no signs of poisoning or diarrhea. The onlooking crowd saw this and started murmuring among themselves.
It seemed Tang Ming should add fuel to the fire. He stood up, jumped a few times, and said, "Look, everyone, it’s been so long since I ate the popsicle. If there was anything wrong, I would have run to the restroom or called an ambulance by now. But look, nothing’s wrong. What does that tell you? It tells you that these people are just here to cause trouble. You all can rest assured and buy the diet popsicles. There aren’t many left today; once they’re sold out, that’s it."
After this announcement, the onlookers hesitated a bit, but once a few office workers walked into the Xia Family’s dessert shop and took away a few diet popsicles, the crowd went wild, each entering the shop and frantically buying.
The Xia Family mother and daughter hurriedly tended to the customers and sold the popsicles, busily keeping up with the crowd.
The trouble-making woman, seeing the situation had gone beyond her expectations, got a bit anxious. She was about to continue shouting, but Tang Ming was already beside her, speaking coldly, "Still want to make trouble, huh? Do you not value your life?"
Seeing it was Tang Ming, the trouble-making woman immediately felt afraid. This guy had eaten so many popsicles with no effect; it was downright eerie. Moreover, if he was slow to react and only started showing symptoms now, and died right in front of her, what would she do? Others might think she had tampered with them. Therefore, she didn’t dare to strike or scream, just retreated two steps.
"Who sent you to cause trouble here?"
Tang Ming asked with a cold laugh.
"No one sent us. I only came because their popsicles made my husband sick,"
the trouble-making woman quickly responded, her face changing as she defended herself.
"Your husband?"
Tang Ming glanced at the person on the stretcher and said disdainfully, "Then call him and see if he responds to you?"
