Chapter 261: Chapter 262 Help You Once More

The Empress Dowager did not ask much, nor did she expose Chu Nanli.

After Chu Nanli had finished administering the acupuncture, the Empress Dowager felt her head had cleared a lot, experiencing an unprecedented sense of relief.

"It’s all thanks to you, otherwise who knows how long I would have had to live with this stubborn illness," said the Empress Dowager as she massaged her head, her eyes filled with gratitude when she looked at Chu Nanli.

"It’s only right, and besides, you have helped me before, and I have no way to repay you," Chu Nanli replied with a smile.

The Empress Dowager’s gaze toward Chu Nanli carried a trace of admiration.

"You are a good child, but since you have cured a major illness of mine, a reward is still in order," she stated.

Chu Nanli intended to refuse, but the Empress Dowager had already spoken, so it did not seem appropriate for her to say anything further.

In the end, the Empress Dowager bestowed upon Chu Nanli a pile of gold, silver, and jewelry.

"If you need anything in the future, you can come to me. I can help you once more," the Empress Dowager seriously added in the end.

It wasn’t entirely appropriate for her to directly interfere with Chu Nanli’s marriage, but if there ever came a day when Chu Nanli truly couldn’t bear it, she would make a decision on Chu Nanli’s behalf.

Chu Nanli was slightly surprised, not expecting the Empress Dowager to make such a promise.

Through her understanding over the past few days, she knew that the Empress Dowager was highly respected and that the Emperor was extremely filial to her, so she did have a say within the royal court.

Chu Nanli felt somewhat grateful.

"Thank you, Empress Dowager."

"There’s no need for thanks," the Empress Dowager responded, her gaze on Chu Nanli growing even more satisfied.

A fine child indeed, it was just a pity she married that shortsighted grandson of hers.

If she had only been married later by a few years, she would have certainly tried to claim her for her own ninth son.

When Chu Nanli left the palace, she received many rewards; the palace even assigned her two horse-drawn carriages.

She did not plan to send these items back to the Prince Residence, fearing Lin Fuying’s jealousy, so she went directly to Bright Moon Building to find Chu Yi.

"Chu Yi, how is the search for the courtyard going?" she asked.

"Your Highness, it has already been found, just waiting for you to see," Chu Yi replied, as he had already found it early and was just waiting for Chu Nanli to return.

Chu Nanli smiled satisfactorily, "That was quite efficient."

In that case, she could move her things straight to the new home.

"Let’s go take a look," Chu Nanli said.

"Yes, Princess Consort, please follow me," Chu Yi replied.

Chu Yi led Chu Nanli through left and right turns, passing through several alleys, and arrived at the back row of a commercial street.

It was only two streets away from Bright Moon Building but seemed remarkably quiet in comparison.

Chu Yi walked to a residence at the very end, opened the door, and a lush greenness greeted them.

Chu Nanli followed Chu Yi into the courtyard, nodding her head with satisfaction.

The courtyard was spacious, filled with a variety of flowers and plants, had numerous rooms, and even a rockery and fish pond in the middle of the small yard.

"Is the Princess Consort pleased?" Chu Yi said, noticing Chu Nanli’s slightly curved eyes, knowing she liked it.

"Yes, you’ve done well, there will be a reward," Chu Nanli said with a light laugh.

The corners of Chu Yi’s lips curled up slightly.

"I don’t need any reward, Your Highness. It’s enough that you are satisfied," Chu Yi said.

Chu Nanli turned around and glanced at Chu Yi.

When their eyes met, Chu Yi’s ears turned red quietly.

Chu Nanli felt that Chu Yi had become more talkative lately, turning from that silent and reticent guard to someone a bit more open.

It might also be because after spending more time together, they had grown more familiar.

"You must have put in a lot of effort to find such a good courtyard in such a short time," Chu Nanli remarked.

After a moment of thought, she took out a jade pendant from around her waist.

The jade pendant was awarded to her by the Empress Dowager, and she had liked it so much that she wore it immediately.

"Here, this is for you. It’s not a reward, consider it a token of gratitude," Chu Nanli said warmly, handing the jade pendant to Chu Yi.

Chu Yi was stunned.

"I—I cannot accept this. These tasks are my duty to perform," he stammered.

"If you don’t accept it, you’ll be looking down on my gift." Chu Nanli feigned anger as she glared at Chu Yi.

Chu Yi had no choice but to nod, "Thank you, Your Majesty."

Chu Nanli’s face immediately broke into a smile as she handed over the jade pendant with both hands.

Chu Yi’s face turned red as he accepted the jade pendant, the smooth and delicate touch stirring something within him.

He looked up, only to see Chu Nanli smiling beautifully.

His face felt as hot as if it were on fire.

Chu Nanli took it as him being thin-skinned and embarrassed.

"Alright, go and send a message to Yanyan, letting her move all her stuff over." Chu Nanli said.

As for herself, she would stay here.

She didn’t want to set foot in the War King Residence again.

When Chu Yi went to find Yanyan, she had already nearly finished packing; she took everything she could with her.

No good things would be left for Ye Yunting!

When the two of them set out in the carriage, they happened to see Ye Yi, who had returned early.

Yanyan was surprised to see Ye Yi and quickly picked up her handkerchief to cover her face, not wanting him to see her, but she was a step too late.

"Stop."

Seeing Yanyan dodge him, Ye Yi instinctively had a bad premonition.

He had also heard about the events of the past few days.

Instinctively, he guessed that Yanyan was planning to move out; why else would she be avoiding him?

He suddenly felt uncomfortable.

The carriage was stopped by Ye Yi at the entrance of the War King Residence.

Realizing there was no escaping, Yanyan reluctantly alighted from the carriage, "Master."

The two of them had agreed that Yanyan could call him "Master" when there were no outsiders.

"You still remember you have me as your master." Ye Yi snorted coldly, somewhat displeased, "Are you moving out?"

Yanyan had not intended to deceive Ye Yi; she had been planning to bid him farewell, just that she did not know how to broach the subject.

She feared that Ye Yi would report this matter to the Prince, who would stop them.

"Master, can you let us go first? I’ll come back another day to explain." Yanyan pleaded softly, her voice tinged with supplication.

"Do you know the consequences of doing this?" Ye Yi said sternly, his face dark.

He knew about the events of the past few days.

He was aware that Chu Nanli wanted to move out and that Ye Yunting didn’t want her to.

"If you sneak away like this, what if the Prince becomes furious?" Ye Yi said sternly.

"Of course I know, but Her Majesty said that if we don’t sneak away now, we may not be able to move out once the Prince returns." Yanyan said.

She had no trust in Ye Yunting, that man who breaks his promises.

"You have seen it, Her Majesty has suffered so much in the Prince Residence; if this continues, she fears she might not survive." Yanyan looked at Ye Yi with pleading eyes.

Ye Yi was, after all, a bit softhearted.

"Go, go quickly!" Ye Yi said coldly with a dark face.

Yanyan felt instantly pardoned, "Thank you, Master!"

She jumped excitedly onto the carriage and hurriedly said to Chu Yi, "Quick, let’s go!"

Her tone was so urgent as if someone were chasing her.

Seeing her leave without looking back, as if she had no attachment, Ye Yi bitterly smiled, "Little ingrate."

He shook his head and tried not to dwell on it, but he was already preparing himself to face Ye Yunting’s wrath.

On Lin Fuying’s end.

Since coming back, she had dispatched Dong Yue to keep an eye on Chu Nanli’s situation.

With people and belongings moved out from Chu Nanli’s end, the commotion was not small, and naturally, she was informed of the situation.

"So Chu Nanli has already moved out?" Lin Fuying asked while playing with a handkerchief in her hand.
