Chapter 216 - 217: Ghost!
Chapter 216: Chapter 217: Ghost!
She purposely leaned closer to Ye Yunting, as if to tell Chu Nanli that she was indeed the one best matched with Ye Yunting.
Chu Nanli did not care.
She took out a record book from the sleeve of her robe and tossed it in front of Ye Yunting.
Ye Yunting frowned.
"Chu Nanli, what are you doing!" he exclaimed.
Chu Nanli crossed her arms, "Just take a look."
Ye Yunting picked it up and the first page he saw was the one about Dong Yue borrowing the padlock.
"What about it?" Ye Yunting asked calmly.
"Last night, it was the person from the Concubine’s side who took the padlock from the storeroom and locked me in the firewood room," Chu Nanli said calmly.
Lin Fuying’s face changed, she glanced lightly at the record, indeed Dong Yue’s name was there, and she couldn’t help but grit her teeth secretly.
How could this foolish maid leave behind evidence.
"Sister, this record alone doesn’t prove anything."
"Sister shouldn’t have failed to find useful evidence and just randomly picked something to pretend, right?" Lin Fuying said with a covered laugh.
Ye Yunting’s brows tightened slightly, "Is this all you brought?"
Chu Nanli shook her head, "Of course not."
As soon as Chu Nanli had spoken, Ye Yi dragged over a sneaky household servant.
"My Prince, last night I discovered this servant sneaking around, and upon interrogation, it was he who locked the Princess Consort," Ye Yi said gravely.
Chu Nanli knew that this record alone was insufficient evidence and had come to seek Ye Yunting only after knowing Ye Yi had captured someone.
Ye Yunting’s eyes darkened slightly.
"Why would you harm the Princess Consort?"
Ye Yunting’s face darkened, his cold eyes intimidating, causing the servant to tremble in fear.
"Reply to the Prince, it was Miss Dong Yue who made me do it!"
"Miss Dong Yue said she was afraid that the Princess Consort would run away, so she added the padlock!"
Ye Yunting’s eyes turned colder.
Lin Fuying’s expression changed as well.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" she snapped.
The servant, startled by the shout, struggled to make eye contact with Lin Fuying and stammered, "It wasn’t me who wanted to harm the Princess Consort; it was Miss Dong Yue’s instructions."
Lin Fuying’s face changed completely, she took a deep breath, clutching her fists tightly.
"Prince, perhaps there has been some misunderstanding," Lin Fuying spoke softly.
"Dong Yue took the padlock from the storeroom and instructed someone to lock me up, trapping me in the fire when I couldn’t escape. What misunderstanding could there be?" Chu Nanli asked.
Lin Fuying bit her teeth tightly, not daring to say more.
"However, Dong Yue indeed had no motive to harm me," Chu Nanli chuckled. "Perhaps someone behind the scenes was instructing her?"
With this statement, Chu Nanli directly pointed the suspicion towards Lin Fuying.
After all, Dong Yue was Lin Fuying’s personal maid, and her likely instigator was probably Lin Fuying.
Lin Fuying clenched her fists, looking towards Ye Yunting.
"Yunting brother, things aren’t as complicated as sister says. Dong Yue wouldn’t harm anyone and there aren’t any manipulators behind the scenes..."
Ye Yunting did not speak.
Just as Lin Fuying was about to say something, Chu Nanli spoke up, "Isn’t the Concubine feeling guilty now?"
Lin Fuying gritted her teeth, "How could I be?"
"Bring Dong Yue here!" Ye Yunting ordered.
Lin Fuying nervously clenched her sleeves.
Soon enough, Dong Yue was brought forward.
"What are you doing, my lady save me!"
Dong Yue, still unaware of the situation, was brought forward and immediately sought help from Lin Fuying the moment she saw her.
However, in just an instant, she was suddenly scared into silence.
Because she saw Chu Nanli standing next to Lin Fuying!
"Ah! A ghost!" Dong Yue was so frightened that she stepped back and fell to the ground.
