Ms.CEO Falls in Love with Aloof Professor
Chapter 82 - 82 80 You Should Resign

Chapter 82: Chapter 80: You Should Resign Chapter 82: Chapter 80: You Should Resign “… Chen Kai’s cousin fell for your ex-boyfriend?”

Lu Jingyan: “…”

Song Xian: “Which one did he fall for? Got a picture?”

Lu Jingyan really wanted to reach through the phone and crack open Song Xian’s skull to examine its structure.

She was genuinely sharing her feelings with her.

Song Xian: “He didn’t fall for both of them, did he?”

“…”

Lu Jingyan, with her eyes closed, slowly exhaled, not even in the mood to argue: “Maybe.”

Song Xian: “Then you need to be careful. You might still compete for a woman, but you have no advantage over men unless you go to Thailand. But knowing you, I advise you to think twice; by the time you come back from Thailand, your enthusiasm for him might just disappear.”

Lu Jingyan was silent for a few seconds: “Song Xian.”

Song Xian: “Hmm?”

Lu Jingyan, dead serious, suggested: “You should resign.”

Song Xian: “Why?”

“Because I think it would be a real waste if you didn’t pursue a full-time career in writing novels with that imagination of yours.”

“…”

Even though they didn’t make it for lunch, Lu Jingyan and Song Xian still met up for dinner.

After dinner, it was still early, and the two strolled through the nearby shopping district, stopping in various shops.

With the Spring Festival approaching and promotions everywhere, it was cold in the evening, but the area was still quite crowded. Lu Jingyan and Song Xian bought some clothes in a designer brand store. After paying, they were just about to leave when Lu Jingyan’s phone rang.

It was Lu Zhou, the second son of Lu Hongcheng, and Lu Jingyan’s second cousin.

Lu Jingyan answered: “What’s up?”

Lu Zhou: “Nothing serious, I am drunk, can you come pick me up?”

As he spoke, Lu Jingyan felt her phone vibrate.

Then she heard Lu Zhou say: “I’ve sent you the address. Hurry up and get here; don’t make me wait too long.”

With that, Lu Zhou hung up.

Song Xian asked: “Who was it?”

“Lu Zhou.” Lu Jingyan opened WeChat and looked at the address Lu Zhou had sent: “He’s drunk, wants me to pick him up.”

Song Xian: “Ah? Can you handle it alone or should I come with you?”

Knowing Lu Zhou could be a handful when drunk, Lu Jingyan didn’t really want Song Xian to come along: “It’s okay, I can handle him.”

The address Lu Zhou sent was a club that Chen Kai, Song Xian, and Lu Jingyan often frequented, not far from the shopping district they were currently at. Lu Jingyan and Song Xian went to the parking garage to get the car, then Lu Jingyan dropped Song Xian off at the roadside, watched her get into a cab, and then drove towards the club.

It was just past ten o’clock in the evening, and there weren’t many people in the club; the DJ on stage was soundchecking.

Under the multicolored flashing lights, Lu Jingyan followed the booths inside, then found the spot Lu Zhou had mentioned.

On the black leather sofa sat a mix of men and women.

A row of drinks was arranged on the table.

Lu Jingyan stood beside, circled around the group once, but didn’t see Lu Zhou.

She was about to call Lu Zhou when someone at the far end raised their hand: “Over here.”

Lu Jingyan looked in the direction of the voice.

It was Yang Xu.

He leaned back on the sofa, patted the space next to him: “Come sit.”

Lu Jingyan stood in place, “Where’s Lu Zhou?”

“Come over and sit first,” Yang Xu said.

Lu Jingyan didn’t respond and pulled out her phone to call Lu Zhou.

No one answered.

Lu Jingyan frowned and was just about to continue calling when Yang Xu, who was sitting inside, stood up and walked out with a glass of wine.

He pointed inside towards the people at the furthest end, signaling everyone to clear two seats, then sat down and incidentally grabbed Lu Jingyan’s wrist, pulling her to sit next to him.

Lu Jingyan jerked her arm but couldn’t break free. “Let go.”

Yang Xu, acting as if he hadn’t heard her, poured a drink and placed it in front of Lu Jingyan, “Here, drink a little.”

“I’m not feeling well today, can’t drink,” Lu Jingyan said, dialing Lu Zhou’s number again on her phone.

Yang Xu handed the drink to a girl dressed rather coolly nearby, signaling her to drink it, then poured another for Lu Jingyan, “Then drink something with a lower alcohol content.”

No one answered Lu Zhou’s phone still.

Lu Jingyan ignored Yang Xu, went to WeChat, and sent Lu Zhou a message.

Yang Xu raised his hand, pressing down on Lu Jingyan’s phone, “Don’t waste your effort, he is not going to bother with you.”

Lu Jingyan paused, then turned to look at Yang Xu, “What do you mean?”

Before Yang Xu could speak, Lu Jingyan understood, “You two conspired together?”

Yang Xu chuckled, “I didn’t conspire with him. He told me to let his sister come and have fun with me tonight.”

Lu Jingyan’s fingers tightened around her phone.

“You’re here now, just enjoy it,” Yang Xu said, pushing the newly poured drink towards Lu Jingyan, “After all, your brother Lu Zhou is really begging me for that project right now.”

“Then let Lu Zhou come and keep you company,” Lu Jingyan said, stuffing her phone in her bag and trying to get up to leave.

Yang Xu reached out to hold her leg and leaned close to her ear, looking intimate to outsiders, but his words were threatening, “Don’t make me lose face.”

Lu Jingyan glanced down at Yang Xu’s hand on her leg for two seconds, “Then I’ll say it again, let Lu Zhou come and keep you company.”

Yang Xu laughed, his eyes clearly showing anger, “Lu Jingyan, I know what’s going on with you perfectly well. In the eyes of the Lu family, you’re just a bargaining chip, don’t act high and mighty with me.”

Lu Jingyan looked at Yang Xu and without another word, grabbed her bag, hit him hard on the arm with it, then stood up, tidied her hair, and turned to leave.

“Lu Jingyan, stop right there!”

Lu Jingyan acted as if she hadn’t heard.

“Lu Jingyan, don’t fucking ignore the respect I’m offering.”

Yang Xu raised his hand and threw his phone at her.

“Lu Jingyan, I fucking told you to stop, did you hear me?”

The phone whizzed past Lu Jingyan’s ear, landing in front of her.

Lu Jingyan stopped walking and slowly turned to look at Yang Xu.

Yang Xu pointed at the phone near Lu Jingyan’s feet, “Pick it up.”

Lu Jingyan looked down at the phone for a while, then bent down to pick it up.

Yang Xu gestured, “Bring it here.”

Lu Jingyan looked at Yang Xu, then at the circle of onlookers behind him, evaluated the phone with a cracked screen in her hand for a few seconds, then turned around and went back towards him.

Seeing Lu Jingyan return, Yang Xu sneered dismissively, “Would’ve been better to be obedient earlier instead of making me angry.”

Lu Jingyan stayed silent, handing the phone over to Yang Xu.

Yang Xu reached out to take it.

Just as his fingertips were about to touch the phone, Lu Jingyan suddenly twisted her hand to the side, releasing her grip, letting the phone drop into a wine glass, “Pick up your own stuff.”
