Chapter 131 - 131 126 Calling Everyone Brother_2
Chapter 131: Chapter 126: Calling Everyone Brother_2 Chapter 131: Chapter 126: Calling Everyone Brother_2 “Not many.” Sheng Xian set the water aside, as if he was seriously thinking about how many people he had helped open bottles. After two seconds, he lifted his eyelids slightly and said, “Probably still fewer than the number of times you’ve called me ‘brother’ tonight.”
Lu Jingyan blinked, “??.”
What’s with this joke not going away?
Sheng Xian continued, “Actually, I’ve thought about it, and I’ve only helped two people open their bottles.”
Two, so she wasn’t the only one.
Lu Jingyan felt the water bottle she was holding was no longer appealing, her expression flat as she uttered, “Oh,” seemingly casually but pointedly asking, “Who’s the other one?”
Sheng Xian glanced at her, “Want to meet her?”
This response was completely off-topic. Lu Jingyan looked up, “Huh?”
“If you want to meet her, I’ll take you to see her.” After a pause, Sheng Xian added, “But, you’ll have to call her ‘sister’.”
Chen Kai had told him about his situation, and he apparently didn’t have a sister. Lu Jingyan was a bit confused, “Sister?”
“Yes, not by blood, but it’s almost the same.” Sheng Xian’s eyelashes twitched slightly, as if he was recalling something. He was lost in thought for a moment, then after two seconds he looked at her and said, “Some other time.”
“Some time later, I hope I can take you to meet her.”
Lu Jingyan always felt there was a deeper meaning to Sheng Xian’s words, as if he were trying to win her over within this time frame, then take her to meet his family.
Thinking this, Lu Jingyan quickly suppressed the messy thoughts swirling in her mind.
It was just her overthinking that had led to that previous embarrassing joke.
The car fell silent again.
After some idle chat with Sheng Xian, Lu Jingyan had unknowingly relaxed.
Having been awake so long, she was starting to feel sleepy, but she didn’t want to leave the car and go home, so she just kept forcing herself to stay awake in the car.
During one of the moments when she couldn’t keep her eyes open, she heard Sheng Xian call her.
“Ayan.”
Lu Jingyan paused, held back a yawn that was on the tip of her tongue, and turned her head.
“Have you encountered something terrifying, which is why you keep having nightmares?” He had no proof, but he always felt that it might be related to why she had become like this today.
Lu Jingyan hadn’t expected Sheng Xian to guess so accurately. She was silent for a while and then slowly acknowledged with a hum.
“Brother is also scared of someone, but Brother is trying hard to move on, so Little Fish, you also have to try hard to move on.” Sheng Xian raised his hand and rubbed her head, “It’s okay if you can’t get over it, Brother will stay by your side.”
He thought for a moment, then added, “If you have nightmares again, just call me.”
Lu Jingyan clenched the water bottle in her hands, her heart fluttering uncontrollably at his words; she tried to maintain her composure as she asked, “Wouldn’t that be too much trouble for you?”
“Not at all.” The dim streetlight shone into the car, casting shadows on his face, making his features seem softer, but his voice carried a rare gentleness, “As long as it’s Little Fish, it’s no trouble.”
“Also, about making me swear earlier, I wasn’t upset, just worried you were in a bad mood, so I was just teasing you,” Sheng Xian said, lowering his gaze as he smiled slightly, his lips curling up at the edges: “Sworn or not, I would never lie to our Little Fish.”
…
The next time Lu Jingyan opened her eyes, she saw blindingly bright sunlight.
She was slightly stunned for a moment, then realized she was still in the car.
The passenger seat she was leaning on had been reclined without her knowing, and she was covered with a black coat.
Not sure what time it was now, the residential area was much busier than at midnight, and she could faintly hear the sounds of people walking their dogs and taking their kids to play in the garden of the neighboring community.
Lu Jingyan raised her hand, straightened the seat, and looked around while clutching the coat, gradually regaining full awareness.
Last night, while she was chatting with Sheng Xian, she had unexpectedly fallen asleep.
Through her groggy consciousness, it seemed like Sheng Xian had called her twice, telling her to go home and sleep.
Lu Jingyan rubbed her eyes and glanced at the driver’s seat beside her.
Sheng Xian was still asleep, sprawled across the steering wheel.
His shirt was wrinkled, sleeves rolled up revealing his sturdy forearms, his hair slightly tousled, and the sunlight shining on his face lightened the color of his hair.
The words he had spoken before she fell asleep last night once again surfaced in her mind.
Lu Jingyan pursed her lips, feeling her heart once again starting to race uncontrollably.
On Valentine’s Day, after realizing she had misunderstood everything, she avoided him; partly because she was embarrassed, and partly because she wanted to cool down.
