Chapter 130 - 130 126 Calling Everyone Brother

Chapter 130: Chapter 126: Calling Everyone Brother Chapter 130: Chapter 126: Calling Everyone Brother Her question was out of blue, and Sheng Xian was startled, “Hm?”

“Would you believe me?” Lu Jingyan’s dark eyes stared straight into his, his tone slightly urgent, as if seeking reassurance, “I mean, if, just if someone told you something about me, would you believe what he said?”

Without hesitation, Sheng Xian answered: “No.”

Lu Jingyan’s lips moved.

Her question had been chaotic, and she couldn’t figure out whether his answer referred to her asking “Would you believe me?” or “Would you believe him?”

As if he had guessed what she was thinking, Sheng Xian spoke again: “Before the truth emerges, I won’t believe anyone.”

Influenced by his work, he had always been the type of person who remained calm and didn’t blindly trust anyone’s words; for him, evidence proved everything.

But he found that, in front of her, it was hard to maintain this sense of reason and clarity.

Especially after he said those words and saw the dimness in her eyes that instant, he suddenly felt that maybe, being impulsive and foolish once in a while wasn’t such a bad thing.

“But,” thinking this, he blurted out, “I will believe what you say.”

“…” Lu Jingyan felt somewhat uncertain and hesitated for a moment before asking softly, “Really?”

Looking at her with a touch of expectancy and unease, Sheng Xian replied with rare gentleness: “Really.”

Lu Jingyan nodded, seemingly reassured, “Oh.”

After two seconds, she couldn’t help but steal a glance at him, “Maybe you should make a vow?”

Sheng Xian: “Hm?”

Lu Jingyan mumbled, “I just feel like you’re fooling me, so make a vow.”

Sheng Xian: “…”

Lu Jingyan blinked innocently, “Make a serious vow, like, if you lie to me, you’re a dog.”

Sheng Xian couldn’t help but laugh: “Little Fish, you’re being a bit unreasonable, don’t you think? You asked your brother to trust you, and I did, but now you turn around and don’t trust me.”

“…”

“It’s a bit heartless.”

“…”

“Heartless is one thing, but also hard to please.”

“…”

Accused by Sheng Xian, Lu Jingyan started to feel a bit ashamed. After two seconds of silence, she stubbornly retorted, “How am I hard to please?”

Sheng Xian responded indifferently, “Hmm, hard to please like not seeing someone for five days.”

“…”

“And lying,” Sheng Xian continued coolly, “saying you had to work overtime when you were actually at a bar.”

Lu Jingyan: “…”

Where did this dredging up of past issues come from all of a sudden?

After a moment of thought, Sheng Xian scoffed lightly: “And calling everyone brother.”

“…” Lu Jingyan couldn’t resist retorting, “I don’t call everyone that, I only called five.”

“Oh, only five,” Sheng Xian stared at her for a few seconds then articulated slowly and deliberately, “That’s not many.”

“…”

“Fifty would be a lot.”

“……”

Lu Jingyan felt a bit irritated by his provocations.

He had seemed so apologetic at the bar, but now he was settling scores with her.

What was wrong with her deceiving him? If he hadn’t caused the whole “nishengri” mess, would she have needed to deceive him?

Lu Jingyan pursed her lips, knowing she wasn’t completely justified, but still couldn’t help but snap back, “If you don’t want to swear, forget it. It’s not like I absolutely need you to.”

It seemed Sheng Xian was actually getting annoyed as he clicked his tongue, “Quite the temper there. I didn’t say I wouldn’t swear.”

“…”

“What was that vow you wanted me to make? If I lie, I’m a dog?” Sheng Xian glanced at her and seeing her silent, looking out the window, he said, “Alright then.”

It was as though he faced a tremendously difficult task, and after a moment of consideration, he pledged, “I swear, if I deceive our Little Fish, then I am a dog.”

He deliberately paused, “Is that okay?”

Lu Jingyan, feeling guilty, muttered quietly, “It’s okay, I guess,” not saying much more.

Sheng Xian, not wanting to truly anger the young student, sensibly didn’t dwell on their recent spat and changed the subject, “Want something to drink?”

Lu Jingyan thought for a moment, “Yes.”

Sheng Xian got out of the car and fetched two bottles of water from the trunk, twisting off one cap and then reaffixing it before handing it to her.

“Thank you.” Lu Jingyan accepted the water politely, twisted off the cap, and drank half the bottle, eyeing Sheng Xian thoughtfully, “Do you often twist off bottle caps for girls?”

Sheng Xian, tilting his head back to drink water, glanced at her with the corner of his eye, “?”

“Otherwise, how come every time you give me water, you’ve already twisted off the cap?” Lu Jingyan chewed on the bottle mouth, speaking slowly, “I read online that this is a skill only acquired from dealing with lots of girls.”
