Mrs Hale, I Surrender -
Chapter 272 - 271 Mr. Hale vs Isaac Shea, Wolf and Sheep
Chapter 272: 271 Mr. Hale vs Isaac Shea, Wolf and Sheep
William Hale’s gaze fell on Kyle Lowe, as if to say,
"Come on."
"I’m listening to your explanation (or excuse)."
Clutching his fingers, Kyle Lowe said, "Sir, I did know about this matter earlier, but Cousin Miss didn’t want to publicize their relationship, and I didn’t know whether to tell you."
"So, the first time I met Mr. Shea at the old mansion, I mentioned it to Zac Cruz."
"I thought, since he usually spends a lot of time with you and knows you better, he would tell you once he knew, but he didn’t, so..."
Kyle Lowe, expressionless, said, "I didn’t say anything either."
"Because, I think Brother Cruz has his reasons for the way he handles things."
"He has always been a senior I respect."
Zac Cruz was dumbfounded!
What the fuck!
I, Brother Cruz? Respect? Senior?
He’s willing to say anything to drag me down with him.
"Sir, don’t listen to him, he’s just trying to exonerate himself!" Zac Cruz hurriedly explained.
Kyle Lowe said, "If Brother Cruz insists on saying so, then I’m helpless, but Brother Cruz and I took turns tailing, and yet discovered nothing, it really makes one doubt your abilities."
Zac Cruz was so angry he could barely stop himself from charging up and punching him!
Who did he learn this from?
Such a schemer!
But William Hale wasn’t foolish.
He could see that these two were incriminating each other, simply stating, "Neither of you should expect a bonus this quarter."
Kyle Lowe stayed silent, considering losing only one quarter’s bonus quite fortunate.
But Zac Cruz felt as though the sky had fallen.
Leaving the room, he almost wanted to kick him, but he couldn’t beat him, and it frustrated him to the point of stomping.
"Kyle Lowe, are you even human?"
"You started it first."
"I never realized before how good you are at making excuses."
"I never realized before how shameless you could be."
"..."
However, William Hale had called them over for other matters too, mainly to investigate what exactly happened to Mr. Grant after the incident and how Isaac Shea came to know Cousin Miss.
When Kyle Lowe and Zac Cruz arrived at the hospital, Mr. Grant was wrapped in a blanket, trembling and hooked up to an IV drip.
He wouldn’t say a word when asked.
When Isaac Shea’s name was mentioned, his eyes bulged out as if he’d seen a ghost.
"What exactly has shocked him so?" Zac Cruz exclaimed, "I’ve met Mr. Shea, who seems harmless enough. Could he be behind it?"
Kyle Lowe, emotionless, said, "Truly harmless wouldn’t attract the attention of Cousin Miss."
"An act?"
"Definitely."
Ever since the first time they met Isaac Shea, they felt this man was unusual, acting recklessly because of his looks, claiming he wanted to take Cousin Miss home.
It was just Cousin Miss, blinded by a handsome face, confused by the affection.
—
That night, William Hale didn’t rest well.
Neither did Isaac Shea, who might have been affected by medication, had an unsettled sleep, at one point hugging him calling him ’Daddy’ and then whispering secrets in his ear.
Consequently, two insomniac men unexpectedly met early in the morning at the resort’s restaurant.
William Hale, unlike Michale Shaw, couldn’t bring himself to call him brother-in-law, but Isaac Shea took the initiative to greet, "Mr. Hale, you’re up early."
"Didn’t sleep well last night."
"Because of the change in scenery?"
"Because of you."
"..."
William Hale was direct in his speech, which made the atmosphere a tad awkward. He raised an eyebrow and asked him, "What would you like to drink? Coffee? Juice?"
"Coffee, please."
At the buffet, William Hale casually poured him a cup.
"How’s my sister doing?"
"She didn’t sleep well last night, not settling until after four in the morning."
"Thank you for taking care of her."
"It’s the least I could do."
Many people stayed overnight at the villa, and all were surprised—how did these two unrelated individuals wind up together?
Isaac Shea looked too harmless, which made William Hale appear even more menacing.
Added to that Isaac’s cautious behavior, a lot of people couldn’t help but speculate:
Was Young Master Shea blackmailed by Mr. Hale?
Someone snapped a photo of the two together, and Michale Shaw laughed nearly to insanity:
It was exactly like the wolf and the sheep.
Anyone would think Young Master Shea was the one being bullied.
Hannah Johnson didn’t sleep well and got up early. She had planned to return to the city last night and attend a morning meeting at the office, but now all her plans were disrupted. Groggily getting up, she saw the photo Michale sent and headed to the restaurant.
"Sis." William spotted her first.
Upon hearing this, Isaac hurriedly stood up, his eyes pitiful and helpless.
"Did you bully him?" Hannah poured a cup of coffee and sat down beside her cousin.
"Just some casual talk, not bullying." William raised an eyebrow at the person across, "Young Master Shea, did I bully you?"
"No."
Isaac shook his head, his eyes still innocent.
Without speaking, he seemed genuinely bullied.
William fiddled with the coffee cup in front of him. This kid, playing what in front of his cousin.
Last night he was the same, tormenting Mr. Grant to the point of a nervous breakdown, leaving him dazed. The Grant Family, ignorant of the situation, thought Isaac had kindly taken their son to the hospital and were deeply grateful.
He definitely used some extreme methods, but in front of them, he had those wet puppy dog eyes, leaving William unsure of how to even raise his voice.
"What would you like to eat? I’ll get it for you." Isaac couldn’t take his eyes off of Hannah ever since she appeared.
"I’m not hungry, I don’t have an appetite."
"You should eat something, don’t just drink coffee. I’ll get you some porridge."
After Isaac left, William turned to his cousin, "Does Grandma and Aunt know you’re living together with him?"
"I’ve told them, but they don’t believe it."
"..."
Knowing her cousin’s temperament, Hannah warned, "You better not give him a hard time!"
"I’m not, just curious how you two ended up together."
"I was the one who took him home."
William massaged his temples, headache intensifying, "Do you like him?"
"What do you find lacking in my Isaac?"
"My Isaac?"
William gave up on asking any further.
"By the way, is Zoe not eating with you?"
"She’s going to physical therapy early and will eat after finishing."
"Aren’t you accompanying her?"
"Someone else is."
Hannah understood—it’s probably someone from the Payne Family.
—
Meanwhile, Celine Payne and two friends were planning to head back to the city. Finn Hale had left, and there wasn’t much point in staying. When she arrived at the villa’s gate, she saw a middle-aged man with a cane arguing with the security guard.
She only glanced briefly, but the guard, seeing it was the Payne family car, hurriedly approached and gently tapped on the window.
"Miss Payne?"
"Need something?"
"This gentleman doesn’t have an invitation, yet he wants to enter the villa."
The Payne Family had booked the villa for several days, and it was closed to the public during this period.
"If he doesn’t have an invitation, he can’t come in." Celine was annoyed and spoke tersely.
Last night, her mother had scolded her not to provoke Finn.
She was the Payne family’s only daughter—there was no reason for her to stay away from him.
She felt a surge of anger.
"But..." the guard hesitated, "he claims to be Mrs. Hale’s father and insists on finding her. We don’t dare to turn him away."
Mrs. Hale?
Zoe Bell’s father!
Celine’s eyes lit up as she took a closer look at the man.
When Zoe Bell and William Hale were together, her background had been thoroughly investigated by insiders, and Celine had seen photos of the Bell Family.
But now, Kevin Bell was crippled and no longer carried his past air of vitality.
Corners of Celine’s mouth lifted in a sly smile.
She finally found something interesting.
With a slight smirk, she said, "Let him in."
