Mrs Hale, I Surrender -
Chapter 205 Killing at the Door: I’m Here to Send Her Off
Chapter 205: 205 Killing at the Door: I’m Here to Send Her Off
Kyle Lowe furrowed his brow, finished messaging Zoe Bell, and calculated that the car ride from the hospital to the old residence had reached the suburban area. Although surveillance was now widespread, some parts of the suburb still lacked monitoring.
He suppressed the uneasy feeling in his heart and quickly located the car’s position.
The vehicle was found stationary on a road in the Suburb of Capital City, unmoved.
Immediately,
he made a call to William Hale.
In the company, because the New Year’s project decisions were delayed, the office atmosphere was tense. William Hale had recently packed next month’s workload into the current one, extremely busy.
The phone vibrated, his brow furrowing tighter.
Seeing it was Kyle Lowe, a sudden anxiety gripped him.
Ever since he had followed Zoe Bell, he hardly ever contacted him, especially not during work hours. He answered, "What’s up?"
"I can’t reach my wife at the moment."
"..."
The senior executives only saw their boss’s expression suddenly turn stern, his aura becoming more oppressive. He then signaled for the others to continue discussing the plan, and he strode out of the office.
Meanwhile, he contacted his cousin.
Since Zoe Bell got along well with her and occasionally did not answer the phone when with her,
Hannah Johnson was being affectionate with Isaac Shea. Seeing the caller ID, her interest vanished, "William?"
"Has Zoe contacted you?"
"No, we haven’t been in touch recently." Hannah immediately sensed something was off, "Is Zoe in trouble?"
"I can’t get ahold of her."
"Don’t panic yet." Hannah quickly buttoned her coat, "I’ll try reaching her again. She might be busy with something else. Don’t worry, keep me posted."
"What happened?" Isaac Shea frowned.
"Something’s up, I need to step out," Hannah said, grabbing her coat and rushing out in her slippers.
William Hale also found out that before Zoe Bell disappeared, she last called Payne Corps. Assistant Law was surprised when he received his call.
"Mr. Hale?"
The Junior President Payne, who was disinterested in work and staring blankly at his teacup, looked up at this.
"You’re saying you can’t reach Miss Bell?"
Junior President Payne: "..."
——
Zoe Bell’s car and the vehicle that had rear-ended her were quickly found.
But she was nowhere to be found.
Her phone was also discovered under the car.
And the car was confirmed to be one with a cloned license plate.
"Who did this? Are they out of their minds? In broad daylight!" Zac Cruz was so angry he wanted to curse.
Were these people seeking death?
"Has anyone in the family received any unusual calls?" William asked.
Kyle shook his head.
Kidnapping, either it targets a person, or it’s for money.
If it’s for money, they definitely would contact someone related to her. If calls remain unanswered, it only implied that the kidnappers might not be after money, but went specifically for Zoe Bell.
"My lady hasn’t made any enemies recently, who would..." Zac didn’t finish his sentence when he immediately thought of someone.
If he could think of it, William Hale obviously would as well.
While he had Kyle Lowe investigate suspicious vehicles that had passed by, he checked on Serena Conner.
"Sir, Serena Conner is scheduled to leave the country today."
William Hale’s expression darkened even more.
"Leaving the country? She wouldn’t be thinking of fleeing, would she?"
"It seems like the Conner Family had arranged it long ago, a flight tonight."
"We need to stop her then. Leaving at this time is just too coincidental."
After all, once out of the country, with the mountains high and the emperor far away, it would be hard to hold her accountable.
By the time William Hale reached the Conner residence by car, it would take about an hour, and he might not make it in time.
**
At that time, Zoe Bell was slowly waking up, but she didn’t open her eyes.
With the jolting of the car, her body was shaken from side to side, and her hands and feet were tied, rendering her unable to move.
"...Once this ticket is completed, can we really get five million?"
"Definitely, the other party is so generous, they gave us one million as a deposit directly, saying it was to kickstart our operation."
"A profitable haul indeed."
"Brother, this woman is so beautiful, and her skin is so smooth. Are we really not allowed to touch her?"
"Yeah, this waist could keep me entertained for years. I heard she’s a dancer; she’d probably be.... energetic in bed."
"Before we have accomplished our main task, don’t do anything unnecessary."
The last one to speak was that man who had deliberately hit her car, causing a rear-end collision.
Listening to the voices, Zoe deduced that there were probably three people. After the car had stopped, two people lifted her out of the car and walked for a while. Accompanied by the heavy sound of an iron door opening and closing, she was placed somewhere.
It was very quiet around; the murmur of insects could be heard.
"Brother, when will she wake up?"
"I gave her enough dose; it will probably take three hours. Let’s go grab some food and come back. You stay here and watch her closely."
"It’s only been a bit over an hour. You guys can go with peace of mind, and bring me some skewers."
Zoe had a resistance to sedatives, so she woke up earlier. After hearing the sound of a car driving away, she tried to open her eyes.
The sky had gradually darkened, and the lights were on inside.
And the man guarding her was playing with his phone, completely unaware that she had woken up.
It seemed to be an office that had been vacant for a long time.
There was the sound of an iron door; maybe it was some kind of factory.
She surveyed her surroundings before twisting her wrist slightly.
It was tied too tightly; she couldn’t free herself.
After pondering for a moment, she came up with a strategy.
——
At the Conner family’s home at this time, the parents were holding a farewell banquet for Serena Conner because her scandal of climbing into someone else’s bed had become widely known, so the banquet was modest with only a few close relatives present.
Owen Conner looked at his daughter, frustrated at her lack of initiative, "After you go abroad, don’t cause any trouble, just lie low for a while."
"When the rumors in Capital City blow over, I will bring you back."
Serena Conner smiled and nodded, "Dad, I understand, I promise I won’t cause any trouble."
"You should have been obedient like this before."
Owen Conner felt that today his daughter was unusually meek.
Just then, a car noise came from outside, followed by the doorbell. Thinking it was another relative coming to say farewell, the servant opened the door just as a cold wind swept in.
Hannah Johnson appeared at the doorway.
"Hannah? How did you come here?" Owen Conner was surprised; the two families were already close, "What are you..."
She was still wearing her home clothes, just wrapped in a sweater coat.
"I’m looking for Serena."
Her expression stern, she moved quickly as if bringing a breeze with her.
Serena, already afraid of her, saw her walking straight toward her, rose from her seat, the movement a bit too sudden, knocking the dining chair to the ground. She staggered back, even falling to the floor.
At this point, even a fool could tell there was something wrong between the two.
"Hannah, Serena is leaving for abroad tonight. Whatever grievances you have, you should let them go," Mrs. Conner said with a smile, trying to smooth things over.
Hannah Johnson gave her a smile, walked up to Serena, and looked down on her condescendingly.
"Are you also here to see her off?" Owen Conner said this, sensing that something was amiss.
When Hannah’s sharp gaze fell, Serena, feeling guilty, couldn’t even bear to look at her.
She had received a call from William Hale and was originally skeptical, but seeing her state now, she had a good idea.
It seemed,
it really was related to her.
"Seeing off..." Hannah scoffed, "Yes, I came to see
