Chapter 171: 171 Mysterious Person, Are You Secretly in Love with Me? (3 more updates)

The police officer sighed, "He is sitting on the ground and refusing to get up. You should talk to him."

Hannah Johnson remained silent.

She thought it was quite good, this child was destined to bear the stigma of being a bastard from birth, with such parents, being born into a hell mode. Better not to be born into such a family at all.

Her lips curled up slightly:

Perhaps this was a kind of luck.

Liam Hugh noticed Hannah Johnson’s curled lips as he struggled to his feet from the ground, "Hannah Johnson, are you satisfied now?"

"You must be proud, my son is gone, no one to compete with you for the inheritance now!"

Hannah Johnson scoffed, "Did I cause the loss of this child?"

"You murdered him with your own hands!"

Liam Hugh’s eyes turned blood red from agitation.

Gone,

everything’s gone!

Having irreparably fallen out with his family, he knew his grandmother’s character well; going back would be difficult.

Now, he had lost his wife, and his daughter too.

He never even saw a shadow of his son.

After all this trouble, deserted by his wife and child, he was left with nothing. How could he bear it?

"Miss Johnson, regarding the investigation of your stabbing incident after you called for help, how do you plan to handle it? Insist on filing a case, or would you prefer to settle it privately?" the officer asked, looking at Hannah Johnson.

The kidnapping was fake, but Hannah Johnson’s stabbing was real.

But after all, she and Liam Hugh were father and daughter.

Hannah Johnson gritted her teeth, "Call the police."

Liam Hugh’s pupils shook, "I’m your dad."

"You haven’t been for a long time. Besides, no father would draw a knife against his own daughter. After I was injured, all you cared about was the child in Molly Hanson’s womb. You never even asked if my injuries were severe."

"Then why should I care if you get caught?"

"We might as well be clear about things between us."

During their conversation, William Hale had already arrived.

Seeing Hannah Johnson’s arm wrapped in bandage and gauze, his brow furrowed and the look he directed at Liam Hugh was frighteningly tense.

Due to William Hale’s insistence, Hannah Johnson stayed in the hospital for a few days.

"Do you have any idea who might be behind the attack?" Hannah Johnson was very curious about this.

William Hale shook his head.

There were still no leads.

"Do you have any suspects in mind?" William Hale asked, staring at her.

Hannah Johnson shrugged her shoulders, "Besides you, Logan? Or possibly one of your friends?"

"I’ve asked them all; it wasn’t them."

Hannah Johnson noted the tense atmosphere and joked, "It’s not because someone who secretly loves me is helping me from behind, right?"

William Hale was momentarily speechless.

He was worried that this person had malicious intents.

With such capabilities, if they wanted to do harm, it would be effortless.

Hannah Johnson understood his concerns, "Okay, I get it. I’ll be more cautious myself."

"In the near future, I’ll have Kyle Lowe accompany you."

"Are you sure you’re not monitoring me?"

"Should I switch with Zac Cruz?"

"Let’s stick with Kyle Lowe. Zac Cruz is too cunning for my taste, I prefer someone more straightforward."

Zac Cruz was standing outside the hospital room at that moment, glancing sideways at Kyle Lowe.

He, straightforward?

Isn’t he just dull?

At that moment, Kyle Lowe’s mind was a whirlwind of emotions. He had a suspect in mind, but dared not voice it...

And it seemed the suspect was a male college student.

That couldn’t be it, could it?

The man appeared completely harmless, but nowadays, who is truly innocent? He just feared that it was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

----

Hannah Johnson’s injury was kept secret from her grandmother and aunt by William Hale, so they only knew about the child in Molly Hanson’s womb being lost and felt deeply sympthetic.

Although the kidnapping was staged, Molly Hanson was also suspected of extorting a large sum of money.

The police still wanted to hold her accountable, but because she had just had a miscarriage, they currently allowed her to receive medical treatment outside the hospital.

On that day, Hannah Johnson was in the hospital room, with Zoe Bell by her side, who brought her laptop and was handling her online store’s business when Kyle Lowe gently knocked and entered.

"Are you going for a check-up?" Hannah had scheduled a physical examination.

Since she was idle at the hospital anyway, she might as well get a thorough check-up.

"No, someone wants to see you."

Hannah was sharp-witted, "Molly Hanson? I won’t see her."

"Her two children."

"..."

Molly Hanson had married underage in her hometown, where she gave birth to a son and a daughter. The older daughter, who was in middle school, didn’t come, but her younger son did, together with her husband.

Since she was underage when she got married, they had never obtained a marriage certificate.

The man looked honest and decent, and it was on his children’s behalf that he hoped to plead with Hannah Johnson to help Molly Hanson.

Hannah didn’t want to help Molly, "This is personal fate, I really can’t do anything."

"Eva Hugh." The man suddenly said.

Originally looking at her computer, Zoe Bell, hearing this, looked up at this awkward and honest man.

"What do you mean by that?" Hannah furrowed her brow.

"She said if you wouldn’t come, she asked me to find Mr. Hale and tell him the name. He would definitely help her, but I really can’t find Mr. Hale."

"Besides this name, did she say anything else?" Zoe asked persistently.

The man shook his head.

"I’ll check it out." Zoe closed her computer.

Hannah clenched her teeth, "I’ll go with you."

There were some things Zoe didn’t understand.

Before Aunt’s death, apart from the Hale Family, her father was the last one to see her. So, her uncle had once asked him if Aunt had said anything before she died, all of which he had flatly denied.

Molly Hanson had been with him so long, perhaps knowing or sensing something.

If they let William go directly, if he heard anything, he might not be able to control himself.

Molly Hanson was really going crazy lately.

She lost her child,

Her dream of marrying into a wealthy family was shattered.

She even implicated two fellow villagers, and now their families had also come looking for her, demanding she give an explanation and find a way to bail them out.

She didn’t have the capability to do that, the only people she could turn to were Hannah Johnson,

or, William Hale!

She was just trying her luck; she hadn’t expected that a single name would really make Hannah come over.

"I didn’t expect you to agree to see me." Molly Hanson’s face was deathly pale.

"Speak up, what do you know?"

"Let her go out, I can only speak to you alone about this matter." Molly looked at Zoe Bell beside her.

"She’s family, it’s okay."

Family... person?

Molly Hanson’s pupils dilated suddenly, she seemed to realize belatedly just how close Zoe Bell and Hannah Johnson were.

Hannah was straightforward in character, clear in her liking and disliking—if Zoe Bell really were a woman nurtured by William Hale, and her own father had an affair causing her family to break apart, how could she become so close to Zoe Bell?

Thinking about Zoe Bell’s reception at the Hugh Family the last time...

She suddenly started to laugh.

Laughing so hard that tears fell.

"Liam Hugh, he really doesn’t have a brain!" Molly scoffed.

"Now you can talk, what do you know!" Hannah’s expression turned cold, "Molly Hanson, my aunt has been dead for a long time, if you joke about her, I won’t forgive you."

"I don’t know the specifics, after all, I didn’t know Liam Hugh back then."

"But once when he was drunk, he came to my place..."

Kyle Lowe stayed outside the hospital room, as Hannah wouldn’t let him listen, so he deliberately kept his distance from the door.

About more than ten minutes later, the two of them came out of the hospital room.

Hannah’s expression was especially grim, and Zoe’s face was also full of solemnity.

Kyle took a deep breath:

Here comes trouble,

this is really going to be a problem.
