Mrs Hale, I Surrender -
Chapter 147 Invasion, Awaken, Degradation
Chapter 147: 147 Invasion, Awaken, Degradation
Old House of the Hale Family
Wyatt Hale always had a quick tongue. Lily Lott hurried forward and smacked her son on the head, "You little rascal, spouting nonsense. I made soup for your elder brother, come to the kitchen with me and check."
After speaking, she grasped the collar of his shirt and pulled him toward the back.
"Mom, I can walk on my own."
"I really want to find some tape to seal your mouth! He is, after all, your brother’s own uncle; he must be feeling terrible inside."
"I understand; I’ll try to keep my mouth shut."
Wyatt was just curious.
Is there really such a drug?
After taking it, do you feel like your whole body is on fire, and have to do that kind of thing to find relief? Wouldn’t a cold bath work?
For matters related to the Hugh Family, Lily Lott found it least convenient to say anything. Her son loved to join in on the excitement and, unfortunately, was someone who didn’t watch his mouth.
She was deliberately sending him away.
"Be more careful with your words in the future; otherwise, if your brother hits you, you will have no one to blame but yourself. Reflect on it properly," Lily scoffed.
Wyatt Hale was taken aback:
I reflect on myself thrice a day...
I did nothing wrong.
He was merely concerned about his elder brother’s health; what fault was there in that?
——
Meanwhile, in the living room, the two elders of the Hale Family had the most embarrassed expressions. The old lady still managed to control her emotions, but Old Sir Hale clenched his walking stick and after a few seconds of silence, suddenly pounded it on the floor, "Utter nonsense!"
"The elder couple from the Hugh Family, what kind of people are they? Eva is also so good; how could they give birth to such a thing."
When the old master grew angry, no one in the Hale Family dared to move.
After all, whoever would step forward at this moment
would be walking right into the line of fire!
They would surely catch the ’bullet.’
But Zoe Bell didn’t understand and lifted a warm cup of tea from the table, offering it, "Grandpa, don’t be angry."
"I’m just..."
The old master’s anger had rushed up to his throat but, seeing his granddaughter-in-law, a young and charming girl who smiled at you so sweetly and spiritedly, he felt his anger abate by more than half and took the tea.
The rest of the Hale Family looked at each other.
In the future, should the old master become angry, it seems they could find someone to ’extinguish’ it.
Logan Hale smiled as he offered tea to his elder brother and uncle.
"Does Hannah know about this?" the old lady frowned.
Although she was only a year younger, she was the one who doted on William the most. If she knew...
She would likely go crazy.
"She didn’t know before, but she definitely knows now. However, she went on a business trip out of town today." At the meeting with Liam Hugh, William Hale had already signaled peace; he wasn’t intent on pushing things to extremes.
But he couldn’t keep indulging him either!
"The Hugh Family is likely to be in turmoil soon," the old lady sighed deeply. "With such a good wife and daughter, how could he not be content, stir up trouble in such a peaceful life."
"Recently, be sure to look after your cousin. That girl is strong-willed and won’t speak up if there’s a problem. You live close by, so visit her more often," she advised.
William nodded.
"Knowing full well it was a setup, why did you go?" Old Sir Hale snorted coldly. "What if something had happened?"
"I had plans." William was confident.
"And if you had actually fallen into the trap? Utterly reckless!"
Brock Hale frowned, "Speaking of which, how were the Conner couple able to arrive so swiftly?"
"Because they were at another hotel nearby for a reception this evening," William spoke with a tone that clearly indicated he had arranged it beforehand.
All he needed was to get someone to invite the Conner couple to dinner at a nearby hotel, and that person was someone the Conner Family had been trying to please.
Thus, they could naturally arrive at the hotel quickly.
"I heard that when the Conner couple entered the room, they used a room card," Brock fixed his gaze on his son.
"I gave it to Zac Cruz to instruct the staff to pass it to them."
"..."
That room card was the one Liam Hugh had given him.
William dared to go because he had preparations in place.
Brock snorted coldly, "Making decisions without discussing them with the family, see how capable you think you are."
Logan commented, "My brother has always been capable."
Quade Hale scowled, "Don’t you start causing a fuss."
Whenever his eldest nephew was mentioned, his youngest son was blindly supportive, waiting on him hand and foot, offering tea and running errands, not even showing his own father such attentiveness.
Wyatt Hale soon brought out some hot soup, probably knowing that William hadn’t eaten much tonight, Lily Lott specially made him some food. He had no appetite, and after forcing a few bites, he went back to his room to rest.
——
In the room
When Zoe Bell came out of the shower, William Hale was sitting at the desk, staring blankly at his mother’s photo. As he caught a glimpse of her with his peripheral vision, he gestured for her to come over.
He pulled her and made her sit on his lap.
Buried his head in her neck, he didn’t speak, but Zoe could feel:
He was in distress.
Zoe Bell didn’t know how to comfort him, she merely reached out and gently hugged him.
"Actually, when I went to the banquet tonight, I had roughly guessed the outcome," he said.
William took a deep breath, "It’s just that he was even more shameless than I imagined. When things came to light, he even claimed it was for my benefit."
"Some people, even when they know what they’re doing is wrong, will find all sorts of reasons to beautify their actions," Zoe said, reaching out to gently pat his back.
"I used to be afraid of ghosts as a child..."
"But as I grew up, I realized that humans are scarier than ghosts."
He understood all this, it was just that really coming to the point of a confrontation, his heart couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable.
"Wyatt asked me if I was scared about the drugging incident tonight," William changed the subject.
"What drug?"
"What do you think?"
Zoe Bell furrowed her brows and tried to get off his lap, but his hand on her waist tightened subtly. She couldn’t move, and her slight wriggling seemed like a provocation...
"Zoe, you’re doing this on purpose."
Zoe Bell felt wronged and turned to look at him, only to be met with a kiss from him.
She couldn’t control herself,
Her nightdress fell off, and she pushed at William Hale.
"You haven’t taken a shower."
"Let’s go together..."
"I have already showered."
Who wants to shower a second time?
"Then take another one."
"No..."
Zoe Bell struggled, only to hear him whisper in her ear, "The old house has poor soundproofing."
"What if the elders are disturbed?"
She was always conscious of her image; she instantly didn’t dare to make another sound.
William Hale chuckled,
She really was, unexpectedly easy to deceive.
He carried her into the bathroom, closed the door, and the sound of the water drowned out all other noises. He forgot to turn on the drying system, and the heat filled the bathroom.
The steam from the water dampened her whole body.
"How’s your leg? Does it still hurt?" William Hale asked in a hoarse voice.
"It hurts!" Zoe Bell clenched her teeth.
"Zoe, it’s not good to lie."
"..."
The weather was clear today, and the massage from before had been effective. It really didn’t hurt much, Zoe Bell claimed it hurt just to get him to let her go.
"There’s no contraceptive here." Zoe Bell was not ready for pregnancy and childbirth.
"There is, I’ll go get it."
Zoe Bell felt numb.
What the hell?
When had he prepared this?
The bathroom was too hot; it was so hot that it was hard to breathe.
Fog formed on the mirror but was wiped away by her fingers resting on it.
Allowing her to clearly see the reflection in the mirror,
Her face flushed with embarrassment.
Lucid,
Yet lost.
It was only because he always pretended so well on the outside,
That each time he tore off the pretense and showed his vile nature, he could always make Zoe Bell’s heart race.
