Chapter 89: Saving The Damsel

AiLin saw how the group of men were gathering around the kitchen.

After checking almost the entire room in the first floor without being caught, the only odd place she had found full with men were the kitchen. To be more exact, it was the pantry. She turned to Tsuki who had came with her after agreeing to save Canary with her before finding his boss. Though AiLin had tried convincing him, she guessed that it would be faster to find Canary than convincing this stubborn subordinate of Li ZiChen.

She questioned if the subordinates reflect their boss as Tsuki was as stubborn as Li ZiChen, and calculated as well as this young man was clever in helping her open all the room without being noticed.

But they finally met a wall.

"It couldn’t be... inside the pantry?" AiLin muttered. She could see something on the floor after her own suspicious comment, finding that there was a heel that was fallen at the middle of the floor, the same heel that Canary had worn.

If earlier she wasn’t convinced, now she was a hundred per cent convinced.

"I think it is the pantry," answered Tsuki with similar confidence. He enthusiastically pointed to her side, "So many men! How would you proceed with this now, Miss Ailin?!"

Why was this kid so excited the moment their huddle became more intense?

She narrowed her eyes at how these type of people are dangerous. Those who seek thrill in moment of dangers are usually the most dangerous type, she thought in her head. Is he really good to be working under Li ZiChen? Should she asked Li ZiChen to carefully look again at the men he had hired?

But her ponder was caught in a suspense the moment she saw a group of man walking toward them. They hid nimbly behind the door and heard them discussing while they walked past the door.

"You," AiLin remarked to Tsuki, "Show yourself to the men in the pantry. Then tell them..." she wondered before adding, "Tell them one of your friend had allergic reaction and you’re in need of help because you don’t want an ambulance to be here. Make sure you bring all of them, or most of them. I can take care of two or three people."

"Wow! You’re so coo!" Tsuki said with glittery eyes. She would have thought he was being sarcastic if not for how wide his smile was. "But Miss AiLin, that wouldn’t ever happen normally..."

"What matters is you make it sound believable, go," she pushed him and then kicked his back to show himself to the men in the kitchen without any mercy.

Shoved to the light, Tsuki felt awkward and rubbed the back of his head. He obediently obeyed whatever was told by AiLin as Li ZiChen had made everyone in Morningstar to only recognize AiLin as the next in charge after him.

As he had expected, the men looked at him weirdly, eyeing him with a frown. AiLin herself watched through the gap of the nearby door, watching how every man were staring at Tsuki in daggers and then came forward while stuffing a dangerous knife on his back, "What is it?"

"My friend..." started Tsuki and she could see the man’s ears turning red in a slight embarrassment but he was so obedient as he managed to say everything as she had told him to, "My friend got into an allergic reaction! The Bosses would be mad if they found out that we call the ambulance so I’d need your help. All of you."

The men in the kitchen glanced at each other, giving a look of confusion and suspicion.

"Your Boss, Mister OuYang also told me that you should obey to my request," Tsuki looked nervous but his words brought more fear into the men’s heart as they immediately sighed and agreed to help him despite how stupid the request sound.

AiLin watched as Tsuki managed to bring a couple of men out of the kitchen, leaving only one behind. It seemed the one who was left alone believe that there won’t be any problem if he was alone thus he drove everyone else outside as well. He didn’t expect that soon after he had shooed his friends away from the kitchen, AiLin would close the kitchen’s door tightly and raised a bottle of olive oil to smash on his head.

Surprised, the man staggered but she frowned as he didn’t fall backward or unconscious. Instead, he snapped his head backward and reached his hand to her neck, ready to strangle her. AiLin who saw this took a nearby cooking pan and threw the boiling hot oil to his face. As that wasn’t enough, she then smashed his head with the cooking pan twice and thrice. She only stopped until he was unconscious.

Breathing out of relief, she slowly stepped on him and made her way to open the door of the pantry that was haphazardly tied with a brown rope. Deciding to take a knife and cut it open, she immediately saw in the darkness of the rooms as Canary who was marching out of the room with wrath that only stoped when she saw her best friend.

"AiLin!" Canary pulled her into a hug. "I’m sorry! This was my mistake. How dumb was I to actually fall into such a trap?! You can be mad at me, I’m sorry again.."

AiLin only rubbed her friend’s head and hugged her back, feeling that incessant anxiety leaving her body only when she saw Canary was alright, "Good. This is good. I was worried something bad would happen to you, Canary." She then looked backward at her men who were unconscious, "What happened? They wouldn’t have been easily defeated."

"They pricked us with a medicine. I’m not joking, OuYang is crazier than he looks. He doesn’t hesitate to drug even the people who he wants to work with."

"He must have a reason to be this confident, I think there are someone important behind the scene who could back him up even if he messed around," unless he was ready to die, she thought in her mind.

Canary then pushed her aside, kicking the same man she had beaten down earlier who was still trying to hold to her ankle. Her best friend had made sure to step into the man’s palm with the back of her heels until it bled. Staring at the man, she then scoffed and AiLin heard her commenting, "He touched my waist and butt earlier on purpose. This damn trash!"

AiLin regretted that the boiling hot oil wasn’t too hot. She should have made sure it was above a hundred degrees earlier. She then held to Canary, "Can you take care of yourself and go out now? I have to go back."

"Again?!" Canary shook her head, "I can go with you."

"Bad idea," she remarked, "Li ZiChen... he’s upstairs. I need to make sure that he is safe and sound before.. something else happened." Just thinking that a woman would touch him and repeat what he hates fill her with regret. "Can you do it?"

"I can but— AiLin!" Canary yelled but she had walked out of the kitchen. If earlier she had been sneaking around, now that she had made sure Canary is safe and could escape, she walked out brazenly while holding to the knife that she had found lying on the pantry earlier.

OuYang had messed around first. This is now her payback.
