Chapter 48: It Wasn’t Me!

Jiang NianNian was already on the edge for a past few days and thus her mood turned even more sour upon seeing Lu Ping who now stood in front of her, desperately wailing for some help while others were staring at them. Those intense stares were gouging what had happened and what kind of scandals could be brewed from the interaction which would make a great news for their gossips and rumors.

Annoyed, Jiang NianNian pulled Lu Ping by her wrists, dragging her as quickly as possible outside the building before pushing her into her car. She then told the driver to drive as soon as possible away from the building before snapping her glare back at Lu Ping, "What do you think you’re doing, Lu Ping? In front of so many people?!"

"I- I’m sorry," Lu Ping said as quickly as she breath. She knew that Jiang NianNian always care about how people would view her image from outside, thus knowing as well that she would be hella annoyed to see a ruckus involving her. But she was far too desperate to even care about it. "It’s something really urgent. Something that I need you to help me. Remember, NianNian? We have been friends since high school. We even befriended each other since childhood. You know me and I know you well too."

Furrowing her eyebrows, Jiang NianNian rolled her eyes at Lu Ping’s pleading, "Get to the point Lu Ping," she demanded in annoyance.

Wringing her hand together, Lu Ping appeared almost embarrassed. Her face flushed red as she never begged for money to her friends as it was her pride that stopped her from doing so. She would have cried to her parents as although they despise her terrible habit and lack of financial intelligence, they couldn’t have her be homeless and embarrass the family even further. But these days, her family had became stricter, not caring rumors about her anymore and even declared to cut all ties connected to her.

She couldn’t help but beg to Jiang NianNian, her childhood friend, the only one who had been there with her since childhood, "I- I need some money."

Jiang NianNian stared at Lu Ping and inwardly scoffed. She knew this was what Lu Ping had came for and wasn’t the least surprised by it. She waved her hand in disinterest, "How much?"

Lu Ping took this as a green light. This means that Jiang NianNian was considering it.

"A- Around ten million dollars."

"WHAT?" Jiang NianNian snapped her neck back at Lu Ping. "Are you insane?! Have you gone insane Lu Ping?! Don’t you know how much that money is? What have you done?!"

"I- I just borrowed some money and it piled up!" Lu Ping answered in a hurry, "Please you are the only one I can turn back to, NianNian. I promise I’ll help you in anything.."

"Is there anything that you can help me in?" NianNian angrily humphed. "You don’t even have a job to sustain yourself. Other than gambling and shopping you can’t do anything!"

Lu Ping was too embarrassed to answer back. Perhaps because she didn’t have any response that could even protect her image. She pursed her lips, "J- Just half of it. If it’s half of it, you can help me right?"

"I don’t have the money," answered Jiang NianNian, her tone curt and chopped. Truth is, ten million dollars isn’t too much money for Jiang NianNian who had racked up a lot of wealth after her success in her business. She could have given to Lu Ping but she deduced that there was no point of benefit to continue her friendship with Lu Ping who was addicted to gambling and shopping. Her actions were the one that had caused her friends to be driven away and now Jiang NianNian didn’t have anymore use of her like she did back when they were high school.

Her brother, Jiang MengYao, has also warned her not to "help" her friends anymore as they didn’t want their names to be dragged by the mud when an upcoming important business plan was about to commence.

Before the words dawned on Lu Ping’s mind, Jiang NianNian had ordered the driver with a clipped tone, "Stop here. I don’t know where you live but you should go home now, Lu Ping."

Lu Ping’s eyes went wide with such shock and disbelief. She couldn’t believe the Jiang NianNian who she had known since childhood would turn so cold when she had begged for help. She desperate held to Jiang NianNian’s sleeve, "I- I promise I’ll stop my gambling and my hobby of shopping. I will stop taking more loans again, alright? Please. Please. Just this once NianNian! I have never asked for your help right? Just once!"

Jiang NianNian swatted her hand and shoved her aside, "I’m done with you Lu Ping! It’s tiring that you keep dragging my name with your bad reputation! Befriending you has only become a burden to me and now I think it’s best if we never meet each other again. Delete my number from your contact and stop yourself from appearing in Jiang Corporation again. If you do, then don’t blame me if the security will drag you out."

Shaking her head, Lu Ping began to cry, "You can’t do this to me, NianNian. Didn’t I do whatever you asked from me? I even— I even made sure that the bitch you disliked back in high school successful fell from the stairs until she hit her head and bleed out. I did what you asked, I even hired men to rape her like you asked me—"

SLAP

Jiang NianNian’s hands had already sweep through the air, crashing hard to Lu Ping’s cheeks, "Don’t. Ever. Bring. My name into the things you have done on your own!"

"W- what? But you- you were the one who ordered me to..."

"Weren’t you the one who had done it by your own admission? You hated AiLin," answered Jiang NianNian angrily. Her fury caused her lips to twitch and she could only urge herself to shove Lu Ping outside of her car as soon as possible which she did. Raising her hand, Jiang NianNian opened the door behind Lu Ping and kicked her out by the edge of her heels into her stomach.

Lu Ping was far too shocked to even recognize what had happened by the time she had fallen to the ground.

Ticking her jaw, Jiang NianNian cursed, "Damn it. Remember this you stupid bitch. The next time you bring up my name to those deluded story of your past, I’ll make sure to ruin your life for good. This is my last warning Lu Ping. Bring my name into any rumor and you’re fucking dead."

Scattering herself, Lu Ping shook her head, "NO- I’m sorry! I misspoke, you didn’t do it— I did it! No don’t leave! NIANNIAN HELP ME! DON’T LEAVE ME HERE!"

Ignoring the pleas, Jiang NianNian’s car had drove as fast as a pigeon as they left the scene, leaving Lu Ping right beside a trash can. Lu Ping found herself in diebslief as she stared at the ground when rain began to drip down. She recalled Jiang NianNian’s anger and desperation as she refuse to take credit for her own action when back then in high school she had really ordered her to hire men to rape another of their classmate.

"You seem to be in trouble, Miss Lu Ping?" Canary’s voice appeared as she reached out her umbrella to cover Lu Ping’s body that had been drenched by rain for the last thirty minutes. "Are you alright?"
