Chapter 279: I am Done

Samuel’s hands on the steering wheel tightened. He snapped his head toward her and furrowed his eyebrows tightly, "What are you saying, sister?" He sighed and sucked his breaths, lowering his tone as if afraid to scare her, "Li Zi Chen loves you doesn’t he?"

At that question, she was stunned and she nodded, "He does?"

"He does," he firmed her answer as he turned the steering wheels, "Do you really think he’s someone who would be embarrassed about the fact that you had a child with someone else? Especially when it wasn’t under your control. I know you must be worried, thinking that he had ignored you because of LiAi’s but I saw him when you were asleep, checking up on you and her."

"You saw that?" She questioned and he nodded. AiLin was asleep so she didn’t know this had happened and it surprised her as she thought Li ZiChen hadn’t visited for a long time but it had turned out that he did but while she was asleep which was why she wasn’t aware of his presence.

Samuel nodded, "He didn’t dislike LiAi, I can tell that," he could see regret on Li ZiChen’s face but he suspected it was out of regret for not being able to protect both her and the little girl. After all, though Li ZiChen was always presented as someone cold he often felt guilty for things that happened to people close to him even though it wasn’t his fault. "But he does seem busy as it seems the shareholders in the Li corporation are demanding for someone else to replace him."

AiLin furrowed her eyebrows, "But why?"

"Well, who doesn’t want to become the CEO of Li corporation? It’s a seat that everyone would do anything and even kill to be in," he answered, "but other than that AiLin I hope you don’t think less about yourself or blame what happened to you. I will tell you this but if the man you love turns to despise the child that who you gave birth to just because it isn’t his, you should leave him. Love means to accept one’s flaw and if he couldn’t, we might as well get rid of him."

AiLin smiled and she shook her head, "As you said, ZiChen isn’t someone who would lose his love for me over this. I just... feel guilty."

"Because the child isn’t his?" Samuel asked as he didn’t understand what it felt to be her but he could feel how miserable it was and sympathize with his sister’s suffering. Though they were never close enough to truly understand each other, Samuel always held a sense of pity toward AiLin. She had suffered a lot, especially caused of their grandmother and that was something he understood better than anyone else. Their age difference was only a few years but she had suffered perhaps a hundred times worse than him.

When he first heard the news about his sister, Samuel was worried. He was worried whether she could truly feel home but he was never worried whether he would come to love her or not. After all, this is his sister and no matter what he would always be on her side for all the times others hadn’t be.

Samuel didn’t care if it means turning li ZiChen against them as an enemy but if AiLin was suffering because of Li ZiChen he was going to visit that man now and give him a piece of his mind.

Though awkward, it was clear that Samuel was on her side and to see that, AiLin felt her heart flutter. She smiled and told him the truth, "I know that Zi Chen will always be on my side but that’s... I feel as if I’m asking too much from him. He doesn’t have a choice but to accept LiAi does he? And though I am happy he never shows how he hates the idea of adopting LiAi as his own, it feels as if I trapped him into making that decision."

"Because he loves you, you feel that you have forced him into accepting LiAi whether he likes it or not?"

She nodded, "And if he doesn’t accept LiAi, I can understand but he does, without a word and somehow I am worried that he had hid his own thoughts inside him."

Samuel hummed as he thought about Li ZiChen. He was always a man of few words that’s for sure and he could see where his sister had came from but he could also tell that Li ZiChen wasn’t as miserable as she thought. After all he was someone who would even dip his hands into murder if it meant that he could be by her side.

What was accepting a young girl that isn’t his? If it means that AiLin would always be bound by his side, which sounded as twisted as it was, Li ZiChen was someone who would take full advantage of this.

"Samuel?" AiLin asked and he turned his head toward her before letting out a hum.

"You’re scared about this because it’s the first time someone has loved you so deeply," Samuel thought about it and continued, "Because it’s normal for love to be self sacrificing and so accepting, AiLin even with nothing in return. I’m not good with words so what I mean is... Li ZiChen would never think he had sacrificed too much for you. He wouldn’t feel that you had asked too much from him either, instead, he would be happy if you could ask for more you know?"

"But self sacrifices isn’t something I want to see from him. I don’t want him to suffer because he loves me."

"In life and love that happens and when the person you care about has made a sacrifice for you, the way to return their kindness is to be by their side as they had been for you."

AiLin blinked and softly she smiled. Samuel was true. Pondering about the sacrifices Li ZiChen had made for her wasn’t her priority right now. What she should worry was how to be by his side and support him as he had always done for her. If she was still worried about it, she could also talk it out to him. Right, that’s true. She had always bottled her emotions inside of her but why should she continue that stupid mistake?

Li ZiChen would also be happy if she open up and tell him all about her emotions.

"By the way," Samuel cut through her thoughts that had floated inside her head. "Today’s shooting is in a hotel?"

AiLin peeked out her head to the window, a little surprised as though she knew it was held in the hotel, she didn’t know if it was this luxurious hotel which is a part of Li Corporation. But this make sense as the shooting itself was produced by Li Corporation though she didn’t expect it to be the five star hotel.

"I think it is," AiLin whispered as she pulled her bag, "Tomorrow’s shooting will be back in the high school for the very last scene though."

"Ah last scene? So the movie’s shooting will end soon?"

"Yes, what’s left is the promotion, I guess," and that worries her more than the shooting but she didn’t dare to say it out loud.

"Well good luck then," Samuel smiled, pulling out something from his bag he had placed on the back seat which had turned out to be a lunch box and a box of milk. "Mother made this," Samuel explained, "She wanted you to have breakfast while you’re in the set. I can’t be there with you and there is supposed to be someone named YanLan who would be waiting for you inside the hotel?"

"Right," AiLin looked at the lunch box and tighten her grasp on it like a little box of treasure. This was something she had always seen young girls have with them and something she used to be envious of as Mrs Jiang had never ever made her a lunch box or even bothered to ask the servants to give her one.

To think that in this age her childish dream was accomplished. How could she not be happy?

"Thank you Samuel," she said to him and Samuel in return softened his gaze. The young man who always seem on edge was finally smiling and when he did she could see a little bit of her own reflection on his face. They were still awkward, trying to understand each other little by little but she had already felt a sense of familiarity with Samuel that she felt to be endearing.

"Have a great day," Samuel waved his hands after dropping her at the hotel and in return she waved her hand to him, smiling as she said her goodbyes.

Just then she heard the voice cutting through, "So while you caused everyone a problem you’re here flirting with your boyfriend."

AiLin let out a sigh, turning to look at FangMin who had stood with her arms crossed. She was dressed in plated dress and a headband over her head which gave her a young mistress’s air. Added with her wicked smile, she suited her part as a bully to the T.

"So that’s your boyfriend," FangMin then said, eyeing on the car that had left with a smile that quirked the corners of her lips.
