Chapter 276: Kindest Helpful Hand

Li GuangSha had looked over the printed documents. Her eyes were in a daze as she stared at it, hearing the voices that were speaking from the coffee room that was far too near beside the photocopy machine.

Though the walls in the office had always been thin, the people who work in the designing company had never truly bothered to lower their voices while they had let out gossips about their own coworkers.

At times, it was gossiping out of worries. At times meaning, little to no chance of happening. Most of the time on the other hand? They were busy magnifying flaws of their coworkers and once the person who had gossiped walked away to resume their work, that person would be the one gossiped by the previous coworkers she had gossiped with.

Funnily enough, all of the workers knew that the coffee room was a place of gossip but they were never aware that someone who had been ordered to use the photocopy machine most of the time would be able to hear on everyone’s darkest secret just by doing their work as nothing usual while receiving informations without the need to ask or befriend them.

Just like any other days, Li GuangSha who was making more copies of the designs as per Jiang NianNian’s demand had heard the women gossiping from inside the room, whispering to one another.

"Do you think that Crimson, I mean, Li GuangSha is going to participate in the designing competition too? Knowing how she had always won designs, she should be able to win this one easily, right?"

"True but do you think Jiang NianNian would let that to happen?"

"Well Li GuangSha might have the talent to win but she doesn’t have enough money to participate. Unlike NianNian whose parents are wealthy even in such brink where they’re currently about to lose a lot of their wealth, Li GuangSha has an ill mother and could barely afford day to day while living from paycheck to another one."

"Yeah she might win but NianNian wouldn’t let that to happen or the Director that’s for sure. The Director is NianNian’s uncle don’t you guys know?"

"What? Really?"

"You just work here two years ago so it make sense you don’t know about it. We were told not to say anything and spread it and you know how NianNian would become if you upset her. Just like that previous designer who had designed her competition’s gown."

"I heard about it, they say that NianNian had bullied him?"

"Bullied? No!" the women chuckled at the new coworker who had just worked that for two years unlike them who were there since Jiang NianNian was first hired. "I mean he was bullied but that wasn’t the "only" thing that Jiang NianNian caused you know. They were close before because NianNian had doted on him since he’s smart, easy to work with, and would do whatever requested by her with such flawless execution."

"True true then that happened right?"

"That?"

"NianNian saw his designs. Then she realized that the man he had looked down so badly actually had more talent than her!"

"ahahhahahahah, I still remember how her face turn pale when she saw his designs."

"Then since then NianNian pressured him, scolding him from the smallest mistakes, well we call it scoldings but it was more of a verbal abuses. It didn’t work well considering that he’s also an eyesore so we didn’t really care about the bullying though some of the other designers who hadn’t been too happy about him either saw this as a chance and bullied him. NianNian of course saw and knew this but she ignored what had happened."

"So Miss Jiang didn’t bully him?"

"What obviously she did, she also was the one who told everyone about his self harms wounds. Then in the moment where all his mind was awry he found out that all his designs had been stolen by NianNian. Worse, wherever he complained he would get in trouble and instead fired in the end for daring to accuse Jiang NianNian for something that didn’t happen, according to them."

"Wouldn’t it be funny if it happens again to Li GuangSha?" another coworker spoke from the side, "How about we make a bet of how long she would last with Jiang NianNian."

Hearing all of the giggles from outside the office, Li GuangSha’s innocent smile remain the same, not even a single muscle on her face had moved or even flinched upon finding out what Jiang NianNian had done. Instead, she had picked the designs all at once and then made her way to Jiang NianNian’s office, placing it on the table with such precision at the corner.

Her eyes also caught the pens scattered and began to pick them one by one, placing it neatly on the table in color scheme wise, as though her habit was to put everything in order.

Then she heard the door that moved open and turned to see Jiang NianNian who appeared stress, pressing her hand on her forehead and upon seeing her, she had spoke unhappily, "Leave the office GuangSha."

"But you look pale, Miss Jiang..." Li GuangSha looked at her with concern, "If there is anything u can let me help you with."

"There’s nothing! Damn it! Fuck this," yelled Jiang NianNian who had threw her designs all over the floor, stomping on one of them that had been scribbled angrily in black.

Seeing that, Li GuangSha quickly stopped her, showing an expression of concern, "No! Calm down, Miss Jiang. If this is about your design, I can guide and help you with an idea of the design."

Jiang NianNian was frustrated. The past few weeks she had been trying to get back her momentum and crawl out from the slump of being unable to create anything decent ever since the death of the designer whose designs she had just copied a little. Since then she had became obsessive about her own designs, finding it always lesser than any other designs, knowing that if that designer hadn’t killed himself, she would have had a better design, one that everyone would never be able to look away from, one that would finally satisfy her.

But she couldn’t design anything at all! Even though she had made a few, everything seem too pale in comparison to the old designs, much to her annoyance.

Now that Li GuangSha had offered her own help, Jiang NianNian was tempted but more than that annoyed to the deepest of her heart, "And how will you help me design anything?! You haven’t even been designing anything ever since you step into this fucking company! I know that my uncle paid you so you can give me all your designs! FUCK THIS! You’re all the same like that fucking old one. He should have drawn a few more design before killing himself, fuck!"

Li GuangSha saw the outburst with a calm outlook. She bent her knees down, picking the designs on the floor except the few that had been scribbled over with colorful colors, and looked back to Jiang NianNian’s eyes with a gentle smile, "It’s not that I don’t want to design for you, Miss Jiang. It’s also not because I am scared that you would be stealing my designs. It’s because I am concerned for you instead."

Jiang NianNian’s eyes narrowed, her face fully turned to look at Li GuangSha’s face, "What do you mean by worried about me?"

"There had been rumors badly about you stealing designs," Li GuangSha said, "If the workers in this building had heard about it, it would eventually reach the ears of the people who are going to judge in the competition. If someone then make an accusation about you stealing designs and they found how your usual designs had changed completely to fit my design, that would simply cause for more rumors to float and even for the competition to be deemed unfair and that you are stealing. It would ruin this company’s image as well as yours and that’s not a good idea."

That...

Jiang NianNian hadn’t thought that far but Li GuangSha was correct. Every designs she make from now on, people would be raising their eyebrows at it, questioning how genuine it was. If the judges became more certain that she had stolen someone else’s designs, it wouldn’t just end up with a warning, she could even lose her certificates and all her chances of ever remaining in the designing industry!

The worry finally set into her as she bite down her lips, "Then what should I do?" She snapped at Li GuangSha, "You seem to have an idea on how to go on about this right? Right?!"

"I do," Li GuangSha smiled, as she helped Jiang NianNian to sit down on her place and picked a navy color pencil, pressing it Jiang NianNian’s hands and then pulling a new sheet of paper, "Try designing at least five gowns. Don’t think too har about it, don’t worry about anything. Just draw what you want to draw, what inspires you and what your idea is. Then I’ll improve your idea and make it a design that the world had never seen before."
