Chapter 273: Undeserving Mother

Canary rushed into the hospital and once she saw the number room that had been sent to her, she rushed in, opening the door to see that there was a small young girl lying in the bed unconscious and her friend sitting beside the girl while holding to her hands tightly. The sight was supposed to envoke a sense of pity but canary wasn’t feeling only pity. She was startled and shocked, specially as she found out that the girl on the bed is AiLin’s daughter, the one she never knew she had.

AiLin turned to see canary and upon seeing her friend, a feeling of relief washed over her. She shot to her feet, reaching out her hand before pulling canary into a tight warm hug, "Thank you for coming."

"Don’t thank me," Canary answered, hugging her back tighter. "How are you? In pain? Don’t be too stressed while I know this is a big shock I think that you should calm down first."

AiLin nodded as she sat down, helped by canary. Her voice was soft as she spoke, "I can’t believe this. I really cannot. Those in the Jiang household wouldn’t have saved LiAi."

Canary was quiet in return as she had agreed to this. There was no way that Jiang family would have let LiAi survive. If back then AiLin wasn’t forced to abort her baby but rather had given birth prematurely, the Jiang family must have seen it as a chance to pretend that she wasn’t pregnant in the first place so they could save their face from some shame.

But that same day they had found their real daughter thus kicking AiLin without explaining a single thing that had happened. She also wondered. When she looked in the past and consider it, she wondered how AiLin had always known and thought about being forced to abort her child all this time and how Jiang family never once corrected the misunderstanding.

Did they know?

"I don’t think they knew anything about LiAi," AiLin said to her and her eyes moved to her friend, "That night was a chaos but I suspect that the people in that house wouldn’t bother to save a baby who was born prematurely. I think someone, perhaps the doctor felt that aborting was a bad idea before moving my baby to the hospital."

"And Jiang family wasn’t aware of it."

AiLin nodded, "Their family doctor have changed the last six years and seems from a little search the doctor had resigned. She didn’t want to work in Jiang family anymore thus to her she had returned her resignation. By the timeline it’s... it fits."

Canary leaned backward it makes a lot of sense when she thought about it too. The doctor who had seen such a young girl pregnant and had given birth prematurely perhaps must have felt guilty somewhere and instead of doing what was asked of her, she had tried to save the baby and the mother at the same time.

Jiang family was a rather psychopathic bunch and whenever they have an enemy, even if it was something horrendous, when they had found a chance to hurt others they despise for their own reasoning they will still do it for the sake of the fun.

She could tell that if the family had known about LiAi back then. Would they not take the opportunity to kill LiAi just so they could see AiLin suffer badly? As sick and twisted as it sounds, it’s very plausible.

"We can look into it later," suggested canary. "I know you are curious but you should give all your energy in caring for LiAi instead. I know things had been too rough and you wouldn’t want to suddenly faint. I doubt LiAi will be happy see to her mother in hospital after taking care of her."

AiLin smiled and whispered, "I’m grateful that I have you beside me."

"Oh silly," Canary smiled and elated by her words, she pulled AiLin deep to her embrace. "Anything else that you found?"

"No..." AiLin answered, "Zi Chen has been away to finish all the aftermath of the kidnapping. I haven’t told my parents or his parents either."

"You should do that soon but don’t force it if you still don’t have the energy to do it."

"You’re right," AiLin softly sighed. "I have some questions too. Can you tell me what’s the condition with the Jiang ’family?"

"Well!" Canary harrumphed smiling wide as she announced, "One in a coma. One in the hospital after a horrible fight. One is in work but couldn’t get a fresh idea for her competition, soon to be doomed!"

To be very honest it wasn’t surprising as this was something that AiLin had planned all this time. She tapped her finger on the desk, humming, "What about Madam Jiang?"

And at this, Canary grin widely.

Away from the hospital inside one of the hotel was madam Jiang sitting with a cigarette inside a luxurious suite. She has scrolled her phone, reading all the comments in the media about her sick husband but when she looked into her personal phone, not even a single message or call had came from all her so called "friends".

An older gentleman walked from the bathroom, wiping the towel over his wet hair, "Why are you so serious looking at the phone?"

"Nothing dear," Madam Jiang’s speeds into a rather sickening sweet hum. She stood from her chair, walking toward the older gentleman and put her hands on his shoulders, slowly wrapping it over his larger yet shorter body type, "I’m upset," she said, "Look at all my friends! Whenever they need help they came running to me the fastest but now they don’t even bother sending message to ask whether I’m alright because they’re scared that if they’re found to befriend me, they would be caught up with some bad press. But I’m their friend! Now I don’t have friends... my children are busy with their own lives. I’m lonely and the only one who cares about me is you."

She blinked her eyes sweetly to the man, not her husband but rather one of her "pocket wallet" at least that’s how madam Jiang would name all the men she had begun an affair with ever since her husband wasn’t capable of paying for her over the top luxurious lifestyle.

This man in particularly is one of the executives in Hua Corporation. Questions don’t need to be ask about the money he has and upon finding this out, Madam Jiang had sworn to do whatever it takes to be in his good side so he wouldn’t suddenly lose interest in her.

Madam Jiang’s made her lips to pout as she pressed herself closer against the man, her arms curling more tightly around his neck and her bosom pressed tight on his back which made the man’s grin to quirk upward, "Are you upset about your friends?"

"They’re fake," she whispered, voice trembling with frustration. She couldn’t handle the anger of being looked down by people any longer, muttering hatefully. "Those women were never truly my friends. They smiled when I was throwing parties, when I gifted them diamond bracelets, designer handbags and all those new seasonal clothings. But now? Now they act like they don’t know me. Like I have a contagious illness upon contact. It upsets me and every night it makes me feel like I’m powerless."

The man chuckled lowly, his eyes gleaming with lust as she looked at madam jiang’s body that had been kept youthful and beautiful with all the money she had spent on herself. He placed his hand on her waist, dragging it to circle down her bottom, smirking as he said, "People love power, darling. The moment you stop holding it, they run like rats from a sinking ship." He turned to face her more fully, his dark eyes glinting with interest. "Do you want me to punish them?"

"Yes!" she eagerly agreed as she was waiting for this words coming from him.. "Ruin their social lives. Dig out their secrets. Use your connections—whatever it takes. They’ve humiliated me. I want them to know what that feels like."

He reached up, brushing her hair gently behind her ear, "Of course, my lovely. I can make sure they’re blacklisted from every gala and investment table in the city. No more invitations. No more favors. They’ll be begging you to speak to them again."

A smile bloomed across Madam Jiang’s face, satisfied. But then his voice dipped, which alerted her as he had let out a thoughtful and rather dissatisfied look on his face.

"But," he murmured, "there’s something I’d like in return. I have always given you everything I want under counts of minutes right? If you could do one thing for me, I’ll be happy and always promise to do whatever you ask me."

She blinked up at him, lips parting slightly. "Anything, darling. You know I’m always grateful."

The man’s grin widened, showing teeth. "I want to meet your daughter. Jiang NianNian."
