Chapter 252: That Is MY Position

Anger flared inside Mr Jiang almost immediately upon hearing what his wife had said to him. All those worries about his wife’s loyalty now came back to him and it crashed down as he realized that the loyalty she had was never toward him but his wealth and family’s name. The anger mixed with fury caused him to shoot forward. His steps angrily stomped down the floor and cut the distance between him and his wife.

Mrs Jiang saw how quick he had reached toward her and before she could shield herself, Mr Jiang had held her by the collar and threw him down the nearby couch.

Jiang NianNian gasped as he saw her father’s hands wrapped around her mother. His grasp was tight and it had caused for the veins on Mrs Jiang’s neck to be squeezed and climbed toward her chin, her eyes bulging and bloodshot from fear and the shock of being choked. She clawed using her fingernails while Jiang NianNian watched everything in silence.

She covered her mouth and saw that her mother’s eyes had rolled to its back, about to lose her consciousness.

Only then did she saw how her mother had reached out her hand to holding the nearby vase and without any single hesitation, she had swung it across Mr Jiang’s head.

A still and eerie quietness then envelope the room. So quiet that it had caused every single heartbeat to sound even louder than ever, drumming against their ears.

Mr Jiang staggered backward. His hands that had grabbed tight to Mrs. Jiang’s neck had released itself from its tight grasp and he began to hold to his head and then neck.

From where Jiang NianNian had stood at in quietness, she couldn’t see what had actually happen until her father’s face turned and she walked closer to her room. Then she finally saw the blood that profusely dripped from his neck, the sharp ceramic shard that had pierced through Mr Jiang’s neck.

Jiang NianNian let out a gasp, her body trembling as her face turn pallid. Her mother who had also seen her shadow looked back at her in fear, eyes shaking as they both understood that if this matter was to be discovered by the media, they wouldn’t only suffer from the backlash, they would die socially this time.

Mrs Jiang let out a worried gasp, "What should we do- What should we..."

Jiang NianNian rushed out from her room, trembling at the sight of blood and her lips were too shaky for her to say anything. She forced out her words with a great difficulty, "Call the am- ambulance! We n- need to call for help!"

"No!" Mrs Jiang snapped, "If we call for an ambulance, they will find out everything!"

"Then what should we do?!" Jiang NianNian yelled back at her mother, "He will die! He will die- you’re killing him!"

"A- Ambulance," finally Mrs Jiang agreed, "But don’t tell them what happened."

Jiang NianNian clicked her tongue, "I will say that it’s an accident... phone, my phone!" She then rushed away from the place, calling the ambulance with a shaky voice and when the ambulance had came, she had lied and instead said that her father had fallen and his neck was pierced by the broken vase while her mother furiously held and wiped the broken shards, pretending to be the one who had cleaned up the shards.

Not seeing anything off about the statement as everyone would have been in panicked in their position, the medical team didn’t ask as much question and brought Mr Jiang to the hospital as soon as possible, a news that greeted AiLin the next morning as she had turned on the hospital TV while Mrs Hua Valentine packed all her clothes into a bag as she was discharged the same day.

She stared at the screen and seeing what had transpired, Mrs Hua sighed, "They are only paying their karmas now. I didn’t expect that Mrs Jiang is that kind of a person."

AiLin turned to her mother, tilting her head, "What do you mean?"

"She was once studies to become an elementary children and she is extremely good in taking care of kids. That was why I had thought she would take care of you. I didn’t have much choice back then but now I regretted it." Mrs Hua expressed with a frown, her sadness appearing on her face as she thought of the past and thought that everything she had done had instead cause more harm than good to her daughter’s upbringing.

"You’re not to blame," AiLin smiled at her mother. "You were simply hoping that I could remain alive. I was alive, even though it’s difficult, I’m grateful for your protection."

After all if she had been born in Hua Family, Elder Hua would have done everything in her hands to make that baby die. Her mother expressed how she hadn’t had enough power and authority in that house back then and so was her father who was hospitalized due to an "accidental" car crash. Her mother wasn’t able to protect her alone and had made the hasty decision to safe her.

But if it wasn’t due to that, she wouldn’t have been born safely to the world and wouldn’t be able to meet Li ZiChen.

So how could she ever blame her mother?

She walked closer to Madam Hua, holding her hands by linking her elbow, "Mother," she called, her smile widening. She has a mother now, one that would reciprocate her love, one who she didn’t have to chase so she would pay attention or care for her. "How about we visit a shop together with Vicky? I heard that there’s a yarn shop here, I’ve heard from Vicky you’re good at knitting."

Madam Hua, her mother, smiled wider, "Of course. Is it a gift for Zi Chen? That being said, did you see him last night?"

She shook her head to her mother and wondered, "Did you see him in my room last night?"

"He was watching you asleep while I took a rest. He was beside you all the time," Madam Hua answered, "He looked a little... well, after seeing your face he was smiling again. I’m happy to know that there is someone out there who loves you more than himself."

AiLin smiled, "And in exchange, I will also love him for than myself."

Madam Hua chuckled as they held hands, making their way out of the hospital while Jiang NianNian who had just brought her father to the hospital had stepped out to see AiLin who was smiling wide while holding her mother’s hands.

As if struck by the lightning, her eyes that watched AiLin was stunned and at lost.

How could this be?

Shouldn’t she be the one in such a happy ocassion? Not.. Not this.

Why is it instead of AiLin who was suffering misfortune it was her? AiLin was there, smiling. She also has everything she wanted, a career, a lover who is so devoted to her, and a family who was ready to tear the world apart for her.

What about her? Wasn’t that the life she was supposed to have after ripping all of AiLin’s happiness?

Why is it that darkness now greeted her life and she was about to meet her doom while AiLin had ascended to a life like haven?

This was unfair. Unfair. UNFAIR!

Hadn’t she took everything from AiLin?

No, it wasn’t her fault. Her life could have been perfect. It would have if not for AiLin who had destroyed her family by placing all those traps... Indeed. She wasn’t at wrong. It was AiLin.

She wouldn’t let everything be torn apart. She would do anything to switch their position. Whatever it takes. Whatever.

Leaning on the chair with the knitting sticks on her hands, Elder Hua had leaned back while counting her stitches and only lifted her face to smile when she saw Su HaiTan who had taken a seat in front of her, pouring the warm tea into her teacup, "Take breaks in between, grandmother."

Elder Hua dropped her knitting appliance, smiling back as she took the teacup that was offered by Su HaiTan.

"Dearest me. Your tea has always been the best I have ever drank. What occasion it is that my busy grandson would even pour a tea for me this afternoon?"

Su HaiTan hummed, "Nothing but grandmother, you will always drink my tea no matter how bad it is since I was young."

"Of course, you made it with love after all," Elder Hua drank the tea, something she had always done since Su HaiTan’s childhood. No matter what kind of leaves that he had used, what kind of brewing technique and whether it would taste good or bad, Elder Hua would always drink the tea he prepared.

Su HaiTan looked at the yellowish brown liquid, his lips humming, "Grandmother can I ask you for a small request?"

Elder Hua clicked the teacup, "Go on."

"I want to launch an investigation again," he continued with a smile, looking at his grandmother’s eyes, "As you have expected, on my late parent’s accident. These days my uncle had been tearing my ears apart with accusation that you have something to do behind it so I would like to clear your name once and for all."

Elder Hua looked at him, her sharp eyes gouging his expression until she looked away and turned toward the window, nodding her head after some thoughts, "If that would put your mind at ease, I do not mind. Instead, I will help you too. Don’t you know Chief Ta? You can meet him in the police headquarters and talk about this matter with him. I will give you my full support, dear."
