Chapter 251: Walking Into Trap
Chapter 251: Walking Into Trap
The darkness that had overlapped on Li ZiChen’s face was too overwhelming. While his head remained icy cold and logical throughout his lifetime, this was the very first time in a long time that he couldn’t control his emotions. His anger had gone haywire, his fists that plummet down Jiang MengYao’s face held no hesitation for the kill, and if not for the hand that had stopped him, he would have destroyed the bastard’s life there and then.
Meanwhile Jiang MengYao was yelling for help. He felt as though he had been taken into a cave and eaten alive by some wild animal, causing him to let out a genuine scream of help for his life. He could feel his head swaying, his eyes couldn’t see anything on its left while the red was covered in scarlet. The pain, the powerful punch, and the fear of the sheer rage that was let out by Li ZiChen had him traumatized, causing him to cower and flinch when Li ZiChen took a step closer to him.
YanLan, who had stopped Li ZiChen, heaved his breaths aloud as if he had just ran miles in a matter of seconds. Then he looked at Jiang MengYao, who out of fear and pain had fainted on the spot, and checked his pulse. The pulse was weak, so YanLan pulled out his phone, requesting the staff below, "Call Assistant Wu here, there’s a wounded man. Police? No! The perpetrator is our CEO."
After checking whether Jiang MengYao had broke his neck, he sighed in relieve as the man didn’t seem to hit anywhere dangerous but if not for the quick first aid that came in minutes after his call, Jiang MengYao would have been beaten to death by Li ZiChen.
Meanwhile, Zi Chen who watched the bloodied Jiang MengYao being brought away with a stretched narrowed his eyes. He could only think of how that first aid would have been more beneficial for someone else if it wasn’t Jiang MengYao.
"Calm down," YanLan held to his shoulders.
Li ZiChen furrowed his eyebrows, about to tell him that he had calmed down only to look at his front and saw the reflection of himself on the dark window, seeing his reflection that was extremely hideous. His face was marred with rage, almost too overwhelmingly so that it didn’t look humane any longer.
He covered his face with his palms, sighing as he tried to ease down his heartbeat that was far too errant from his anger. He told himself to calm down as he had almost went to prison when AiLin still needed help. He didn’t mind going to jail for her but he couldn’t afford it now. Not when there was still a lot more on her kill list.
His finger traced his knuckles until YanLan spoke, "How about sitting down first?" He then pointed to his knuckles, "If AiLin sees that, she wouldn’t be at ease."
Though he didn’t want to sit down now and take care of the wound when his mind was still a mess, AiLin’s worry was the priority for him. He took his steps toward the couch, sitting down as he reached out his hand and the doctor immediately rushed to take care of his wounds, dabbing the medicine along his knuckles that had also turned red and torn on its skin.
YanLan then sat in front of him, placing his elbows on his knees and then holding his hands like a prayer, "You were being reckless. If I hadn’t heard about your plan in meeting Jiang MengYao from Tsuki or Taiyo, you would have killed that bastard. Do you really have to talk with him?"
Li ZiChen closed his eyes, exhaling a heavy breath, "No. I was just weighing," he answered and then drawled, "Weighing what he had done and what’s the best punishment he could get."
"Isn’t that an excuse?" YanLan let out a small laugh, "We both know that you only wanted to call him here because you couldn’t vent your anger enough after what had happened to AiLin the other day."
Li ZiChen didn’t smile and looked at his cousin dead in the eyes, "Was it too obvious?"
YanLan brushed off the shiver that ran down his spine and sighed, "Of course. So? What did you talk to him?"
"The camera," Li ZiChen leaned backward, "I think that Jiang MengYao had held something inside that camera which is worse than any other abuse his parents had done."
"Like?"
Li ZiChen went quiet. He didn’t want to imagine what was inside there but he could imagine that not only had Jiang MengYao whipped AiLin, he had recorded it. At some point, AiLin must have found out about it and tried to destroy the camera. The idea wasn’t only absolutely disgusting but abhorrent. He couldn’t imagine what AiLin had gone through and while she was trying to get rid of the past, her heart was once again at ill ease when she found out later on that the camera was still somewhere in Jiang MengYao’s hands.
Hearing the quietness from his cousin, YanLan nodded, "I understand," he answered. "For now, I will make sure that Jiang MengYao sign a silencing contract for what had transpired tonight."
Li ZiChen nod only briefly. He had planned it ahead before destroying Jiang MengYao’s face that as long as he didn’t kill Jiang MengYao immediately, he could punch him without getting any backlash. Jiang MengYao has far too many secrets he wanted to protect, and being punched to death was simply more beneficial to him rather than having that past spread out.
"For now calm down," YanLan said as Li ZiChen look at his hands that had been wrapped cleanly with the bandage. The snake tattoo of his hands seemed to slither around the bandage which he stared at. "If you visit AiLin now, she would be worried."
"I know," he answered in a quip, "I know," he then repeated, eyes closed, head leaned backward on the couch.
YanLan looked at him again with a sigh, pursing his lips as he knew that his cousin was always level headed but all his calmness was being tested the past few days with people who had been bothering AiLin’s safety here and there. He could only wonder what were those people who had harmed AiLin were doing, knowing well that the other day Li ZiChen hadn’t only launched a bad press on Jiang MengYao but every one of Jiang Family members as well as those high school classmates of her.
In the same evening, Jiang NianNian had bitten down her thumbs, not knowing that she had ripped her own skin, causing it to bleed out.
Her eyes were glued at her shattered phone, frustration swelling in her neck as she read all the comments on the newest articles released about her.
[The only beloved daughter of Jiang Family. A known bully in her High School?!]
[Anon 2229: I knew it. Look at her smile whenever she look at people who were suffering. She looks so happy.]
[Anon 99920: Remember that video in the past that was immediately deleted? Back then she was giving out gifts to the orphans and right after she had given the gift to one child, she rubbed her hands with wet wipes furiously. I knew she was unhinged from the start lol.]
[Anon 7700: FINALLY! I went to school with her during high school. She always bully this one girl until she finally left the school completely. Jiang NianNian isn’t only a two faced bitch but she’s a coward with a lot of insecurity. The people she bullies are mostly those who does better than her.]
Jiang NianNian ruffled her hair in a crazy scratch. Her anger causing her to scream hysterically as she kicked the table in front of her.
How was this possible?! Why is it instead of AiLin’s past being uncovered and the rumors about her hysteric behavior during filming was being spread out, instead all the articles were talking about her and her family?!
It would have been fine if it was only one article speaking about her or MengYao, but no, as if organized by someone all the articles had spoken about all her family members. Not only them but the rest of her friends including HangZhou, TaLu, and FaIn. The only person who was being exempted from all this was Bai HaiZe. But that wasn’t because he’s completely innocent, rather it’s because he always kept a good image of himself that there was hardly anything that could be dug up about him.
But Jiang NianNian was the opposite. She had used her family’s authority and wealth to hide the truth of her ugly past. Now that past was being uncovered and her family was running out of wealth to hide everything.
To make matters worse, she could hear her mother and father arguing outside.
She hesitated before stepping out of her room, her pulse quickening as she caught the sharp edge of her father’s voice.
"The rumors about your affair—again!" Mr. Jiang’s furious voice echoed through the house.
"You know that’s not true! It’s all lies—pure fabrication!" her mother shot back, her voice trembling, whether from anger or desperation, it was hard to tell.
Mr. Jiang let out a bitter laugh. "Oh, really? Then how do you explain the pictures? Tell me, how am I supposed to believe you when the whole city is whispering behind my back?"
Her mother sucked in a breath. "You should know me better than that. Those pictures... they’re staged! Someone is trying to ruin us, can’t you see?"
Mr. Jiang’s jaw clenched, his hands curling into fists at his sides. "I should’ve listened to my mother," he spat, his voice dripping with resentment. "She warned me. Said you’d bring nothing but misfortune. And damn it, she was right."
A thick silence fell between them, heavy and suffocating.
"I regret marrying you."
Her mother’s breath hitched, the words slicing through the air like a blade.
Mrs Jiang angrily shot back, holding to a book and threw it over Mr Jiang’s direction, "And do you think I don’t regret marrying you?! All you had was your wealth and your family name- but where are those now?!"
