Chapter 243: Present Mixing Past
Chapter 243: Present Mixing Past
The situation in the scene was clear. She only needed to act as the two men hold her against the wall while the girls would be rummaging to her shirt and vest’s pocket. To make the scene more intense, she had to wear an extra sweater which she had just pulled as she practiced the line in her head.
The two girls were both InRan and FangMin. Unlike InRan, FangMin was particularly excited with every scene where she could be mean to AiLin. Specially after her miserable attempt failing, she was more eager to vent out her frustration.
"Stay in place!" Director Gu yelled as the other staffs were shooed off from the scene.
AiLin turned to look at Li ZiChen one last second before looking back to the scene, ready after closing her eyes. Just briefly to recall all the emotions of her character, the anger, pent up frustration, and the memory from her past.
This makes it easier for AiLin to immerse herself into the character, immediately opening her eyes with a look of unfairness when she stared back at FangMin. Director Gu nodded happily seeing her in character already and called the scene to start at the count of one.
"ONE!" yelled Director Chu and everyone immediately rehearsed their script.
"Come on," FangMin taunted, chuckling as she reached out her hand, pulling on the ribbon over AiLin’s collar. "If you aren’t guilty for stealing then you should allow us to open your bag, right?"
AiLin frowned and she looked back at FangMin with defiant glare, "Before you open my bag, you should give me a proof on how I was the one who could have stolen it."
"We know better than anyone else how you don’t even have enough money to buy your lunch. It wouldn’t be odd for you to start stealing. Don’t worry. I’m kind. If you confess to actually stealing, I promise I won’t... ask you back for the money."
Swatting FangMin’s hands away, AiLin looked at her with a glare, "I may not have enough money but that doesn’t mean that I will be so desperate as to steal something that isn’t mine. There are other thirty four students in this class so what makes you so sure that it is me who is behind this stealing?"
"Why?" FangMin threw her head forward and she stared back at her, "Because I said so."
AiLin frowned as she pulled out her bag. Not wanting this to be forced to take on for longer, she had reached to the zipper of the bag and pulled it over then she threw the content of the bag to the table, looking back at the people who had accused her. "Do you see that? I don’t have the things you told me I have stolen. So it isn’t me. Go away and find the one behind it yourself."
FangMin with crossed arms looked at the items scattered on the table and then on the ground. With her loafers she kicked one of the books in disgust and slightly turned her head away with a chuckle, "Do you really think that just because you say that you didn’t steal we can trust you?"
"I have shown you my bag."
"No. That’s not enough."
AiLin scoffed, "So if it isn’t enough, what else do you want from me?"
"I don’t know," FangMin looked at her upside down, "Maybe you had hide it inside your bag. Well we can find out about it ourself. Maybe you have hidden it inside your clothes or something."
"What?" AiLin waited for the actors to pin her to the wall but to her surprise it was FangMin and InRan who had came toward her, pushing her to the wall. FangMin didn’t hesitate before shoving her firmly by her shoulders with her fingers and spoke while doing it regardless of the script.
FangMin’s nails dug into AiLin’s shoulders as she pressed her against the wall, a wicked glint in her eyes that wasn’t just acting. AiLin gritted her teeth, her body tense as she felt the cold, unyielding surface behind her. The scene was intense enough on its own, but FangMin was pushing it further, too far.
"You really think you can get away with this?" FangMin hissed, her face dangerously close.
AiLin could hear Director Gu shifting in his seat, but he hadn’t called for a cut yet. This wasn’t enough to stop the scene.
Stick to the script. Keep going.
She let out a sharp breath, her chest rising and falling as she glared back at FangMin, refusing to back down. "I already told you, I didn’t steal anything."
FangMin scoffed, then turned to InRan, who had also stepped closer. "She’s too good at hiding things. We’ll just have to check for ourselves."
AiLin braced herself as she felt hands on her vest, fingers slipping into her pockets, searching, tugging. Her heartbeat pounded against her ribs, but she didn’t let her expression falter. She had prepared for this, had rehearsed the moment in her head. But she hadn’t expected FangMin’s touch to be this rough, her grip lingering a second too long, her movements a little too eager.
AiLin knew FangMin was enjoying this.
A slow burn of frustration and anger flickered inside her, but she held it in, channeling it into her performance.
She struggled, not enough to break the scene but just enough to make it real. Her breath hitched as InRan reached into her inner pocket yet instead of rummaging it, she pinned AiLin’s hands on one side and turned to InRan, yelling, "Pin the other hand."
InRan was taken aback and obviously confused. Confused because they were supposed to pull AiLin’s sweater and vest to act the dramatic effect not pinning her down right?
What were they supposed to do now? Actually pin AiLin down?
"NOW!" FangMin yelled at her.
Turning around, InRan had no choice but to hold AiLin’s other hands but seeing how odd everything is AiLin struggled for real, she didn’t want to be pin down, not like this when things weren’t as the script said which caused her to briefly shove InRan aside.
Shocked, InRan fell aside and seeing this, FangMin clicked her tongue, anger on her face as she held both of AiLin’s hands behind her back, pushing her face half on the floor, pressed tightly. It was uncomfortable, extremely so. But it wasn’t easily seen by the director as he knew most of the actors are extremely well known actors who knows how to act and perhaps it was because the acting was just so good that they could feel the uncomfortableness.
Li ZiChen however had frowned. He hadn’t seen the script so he couldn’t tell that this entire scene was off from the start. However he felt something odd about AiLin’s expression. It was still acting, isn’t it?
The three men who was the side actors quickly rushed toward her, they were not as confused as AiLin as they rummage to her pocket, as if they knew this was what they supposed to do. While she was briefly relieved to see that it had gone the similar way as to how it was suppose to be, she was startled when seeing one of the men who had grabbed her by the collar.
Everything went down hill then.
The man yanked her coat, pulling it roughly from her body, not only pull it was... tearing it away from her.
AiLin fell to the ground, her body and ankle hit the floor and immediately her face went pallid. The memories of her past came rushing in and she recalled everything so perfect, the day where she was assaulted- the day when she concieved her baby.
That day she recalled everything now. It was Jiang NianNian who had felt bored about bullying her the "usual" way. She find it too boring as AiLin would always endure without breaking. The last thing she could do was to break AiLin’s soul for good, to make her suffer not like any other suffering.
So that was what she had planned to do. She called up OuYang and invited a few of her friends, those who were just in for chaos and fun while not caring about the emotions of those they had harmed. They were also wealthy enough to shut anyone’s mouth in need, also allowing Jiang NianNian to have a moment of trill for being able to became friend with these wealthy young masters. She didn’t know when this would come in handy but this was a good price for her who loved to see AiLin suffering.
AiLin however had struggled badly. But she wasn’t in her right mind. She had been drugged before hands and was left in hand of these men. Jiang NianNian who claimed she was too disgusted had walked away and left with OuYang. She could see many hands reaching for her- the same as now- those hands ripped away her shirt and clothes, one tugged down on her skirt. It was extremely too traumatic that she began to hyperventilate. The air from her body was being stolen by something.
AiLin’s breath came in short, panicked bursts. Her vision blurred as reality bled into the past, the edges of the film set dissolving into the night of her worst nightmare. The hands grasping at her now were the same, angry, filthy, stripping away her defenses layer by layer. She could hear them laughing, a mixture of FangMin’s voice and Jiang NianNian’s cruel taunts echoing in her ears.
No, no, no—
The cold air on her skin, the feeling of fabric being yanked away, the weight pressing her down... it was all happening again, all the same way as those ugly past of hers.
The set lights flickered in her mind, transforming into the dim, suffocating glow of the light from the storage room, that blinding light that made her feel nauseous. Her stomach twisted violently, bile rising to her throat. She couldn’t breathe. Her chest ached as though an iron hand was gripping her lungs, squeezing the air from her body.
A scream built inside her, but her voice was trapped, just like back then.
Move. Damn it, move!
But her body refused to obey.
The hands on her vest, her sweater... everything from her past and present overlapped, indistinguishable. She was drowning in it, gasping, unable to tell where she was, who she was. For a split second, her mind convinced her that she was still that helpless girl, trembling beneath their shadows, with no one to save her.
A broken sob clawed its way from her throat.
Suddenly, the sound of fabric tearing sent her spiraling. The ripping noise—it shattered something inside her.
And then, AiLin snapped.
A guttural, raw scream tore from her lips.
She lashed out blindly, her body fueled by pure, primal fear. Her elbow struck something solid and someone grunted. She twisted violently, her nails clawing at the nearest touch, fighting as if her life depended on it. Her entire body convulsed with panic, her breathing ragged, tears she didn’t even realize were falling streaking her face.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!"
Her voice was shrill, cracking with agony and terror.
Someone grabbed for her wrist, and she bit down, hard. Another hand came near, and she swung wildly, her fingernails raking across skin. She was no longer on a film set. She was trapped in that nightmarish past, fighting so no one would touch her, so she wouldn’t be pinned down and that someone would dare to make her filthy again. She didn’t want to do this, she didn’t want to!
Somewhere in the haze, people were shouting. Someone called her name. That voice sounded more panicked than ever, something she would have noticed if she hadn’t been in such a panic state.
"AiLin... AiLin, stop!"
More hands reached out to her which scared her more than ever, tears spilling out, her breaths coming shorter until she felt as if she couldn’t breathe at all, dying slowly from the lack of air.
But she couldn’t stop.
She wouldn’t stop.
The world around her was collapsing, and the only thing her body knew was to fight..
