Elder Hua is prideful, she has a sense of hate even toward her own bloodline and seem to be particularly unfavorable to those she deemed unworthy, precisely toward the girls that she gave birth to or the girls her own son had given birth to. It didn’t matter to her whether they’re her own child or her own granddaughter, as long as they’re females to Elder Hua, they were better dead than alive.

"Nothing," Li ZiChen answered her. Pushing one hair behind her ears, he added, "There is no use in trying to please her. So do whatever you want, be her nightmare, she has tried to kill me before, once or twice won’t matter."

She puckered her lips and then nod her head, "True, I just have a bad feeling," she muttered as she looked at the luxurious house with the many actresses, idols, and even well known political figure who had filled the place, walking out of their expensive cars in their most luxurious gowns and suits.

This wasn’t a birthday banquet. It felt more like a competition to show off your wealth. But what worries her more was the fact that everyone here seemed to all wear similar color schemed dress, making them stand out as if they had been trapped here.

"Don’t worry," he whispered, "I will be here and help you with anything."

She smiled and nodded. Though anxious, with her hand wrapped around Li ZiChen, she felt somewhat calmer than before.

As they walked inside the building, AiLin’s eyes moved to the people around the room, the ones she had recognized and those she doesn’t. Upon their entrance, many people also looked back at them, their head turns with most of them whether women or men were in awe upon looking at Li ZiChen.

She felt somehow proud seeing this, knowing well that Li ZiChen’s handsomeness could charm anyone even his own enemies.

What she wasn’t aware of was the many people who had also turn their heads upon seeing her, questioning who the impeccable beauty who had walked into the party hall, dressed in a satin red dress and a beautiful long hair that matches with her fair complexion. Her dewy lips and hairstyle immediately made most of the women there to take note on her fashion style.

But this attention came with the negatives as Su HaiTan who was sipping to his drink immediately stood up upon looking at her. He had ignored his uncle who had spoke to him, causing his uncle’s head to turn behind and to be taken aback upon finding AiLin’s face.

"That’s... AiLin?"

Su HaiTan raised his eyebrows. His uncle is very well known for being a hermit. He was someone who had hide instead of trying to figure out the odd death of his parents that had happened and ended in a car accident. This cowardice of his uncle had always made Su HaiTan despise him and that was why he was surprised that for someone who had been hidden away for so long from the socialite, he would immediately recognize AiLin who was known to be "studying abroad".

"You know her?" Su HaiTan inquired, his lips a smile but his eyes grew deeper.

Seeing his gaze on him, his uncle, Meng Yan immediately darted his eyes away, responding urgently, "No. NO. I don’t. She just looks familiar but I don’t think it’s the right person."

"Oh," Su HaiTan said but his eyes didn’t believe an ounce of the words that his uncle had said, knowing well that his uncle was hiding something underneath his panicked face.

"Back to the conversation, HaiTan," said Meng Yan, "You have to remember that while the kindness of Elder Hua is something you should indeed thank her for, she still have questions she needs to answer about the company-"

"Uncle Meng," sighed Su HaiTan, "Last time you came to me, saying that the budget for the new project isn’t enough then you came to me again, requesting to use Elder Hua’s name so you can sign a contract now you’re questioning the details of her moves?"

MengYan went silent, frowning as he does so while Su HaiTan glared at him, "Don’t you think it’s shameless?" he asked his uncle again, "Once, twice, no every year ever since my parent’s death, you came to beg Elder Hua for her help and then you doubt her for her authenticity, I still haven’t forgotten about how you accused her of being the one murdering my parents."

"I am not accusing her, HaiTan. You have to understand how odd it is that on the day your parents had an argument with her-"

"-that they died?" Su HaiTan ruffled his hair, "Remember well uncle that my parents didn’t only have an argument with Elder Hua but the company that rival them and you."

Silenced by what Su HaiTan had said, MengYan could only look at the ground while biting down his lips roughly.

"Forget about this uncle, I have had enough arguing with you and to be very frank, I trust Elder Hua more who had always been there for me while I grieve compared to you who hides away from everything when you feel your life is threatened."

"HaiTan!" Meng Yan ruffled his hair and stomped on the ground upon seeing his beloved nephew already walking away, leaving him behind with words of disappointment.

This wasn’t what Meng Yan wanted to do. While it’s true that he has a cowardice nature, he wished to protect his nephew who is the only one left on their bloodline, but his nephew had long became attached to Elder Hua, seeing her as his own grandmother that he had never once doubted anything that Elder Hua had done. It didn’t help that Elder Hua only had shown Su HaiTan the good side of herself, never showing what she was capable of doing or what she often does to people who she resents or those that goes against her.

MengYan became stressed out. Though he didn’t have enough evidence, he hoped he could uncover one act of Elder Hua at a time and show his nephew the real devil innate in Elder Hua but no matter how much he tried to convince Su HaiTan, the boy had looked away from the evidence, believing instead that he was the one who meant evil and wanted to harm Elder Hua for her wealth.

As he failed to convince Su HaiTan for the millionth time, he turned back at the gorgeous young girl who had stepped into the party hall.

He’s sure that’s her. The same girl who was once crying underneath the school desk.

Xiao MuChen who had just stepped out of his car tilted his head a little, "Yes? She’s alright, Uncle Su. What’s the matter? I would like to call you again but maybe after the party."

"Party?" MengYan look around and realized that they must be in the same place, "Are you also in Elder Hua’s party?"

"Oh, yes I am, I just came. LiAi is actually also with me today. I had gotten some advice from someone and as I thought outsider is hard to trust with LiAi. I have decided to find a nanny from a well known company so I can make sure she’s being taken care well."

Xiao MuChen heard the panic and wondered why but he didn’t question much, answering as needed as he was always indebted to MengYan, especially his late brother and sister in law who had died in a car accident years ago.

"Yes? I know it’s a party but children are also allowed here, so I thought it would be a good idea. Do you think I shouldn’t?" The worried Xiao MuChen inquired but MengYan had sucked his breaths.

"No. No. Y- You can, you just have to be careful of showing LiAi to someone."

"Someone?"

In the heart of the party hall, both AiLin and LiZiChen who had gathered too many attention was being introduced to new waves of people who came and went toward them, eagerly introducing themselves and upon realizing that AiLin is Hua Valentine’s daughter, they first felt apprehensive of getting close to her, fearing that Elder Hua would be upset if she saw them trying to butter AiLin but then they thought about how out of all the Hua Family members that she was invited, thinking that perhaps...
