Chapter 192: How a Loyal Man Acts

Inside the car, AiLin had taken a seat sideways with her back leaning on the door so she could outstretch her legs. YanLan on the other hands were busy typing on his phone which made her slightly curious, "Did you tell Zi Chen about it?"

"Of course!" YanLan puffed his chest, "He deserves to know this and so that he could clean this mess. Unlike ZiChen who cares about the actor’s gossips and rumors, JingYi who now take his job is the clear opposite. I don’t mean to say that JingYi is careless but he’s young, so he doesn’t take it to his mind that someone’s pasts could affect the movie production."

AiLin hummed, "But this should be fine," She then closed her phone, "I just watched everyone’s performance in other movies. FangMin and Xiao MuChen, they are really an actor worth their fame. Their actings really pull the viewer even if it’s subtle. It’s right in all places. JingYi’s eyes caught this perfectly."

"But they are bullies," said YanLan, "And please let me stop you when you’re in danger, I almost feel my life slipping from my fingers whenever I see that bucket of ice thrown to you. If ZiChen knows this.."

"He won’t be angry at you," she assured him, "I was the one who asked for it so I could pin it perfectly that someone in the set is a troublemaker and that I’m the victim in this. From now on those who wants to harm me will have to be very careful before making the same mistakes again."

"That’s true... but it’s hasty."

After being warned about her action, Ailin reflected only to recall how Li ZiChen had scolded her for pushing her body in brink of dangers and suddenly she felt the same fear as YanLan, not wanting ZiChen’s scoldings and to see his face marred in anger and sadness. A part of her reasoned that this was the best outcome she could have chosen while the other also asked whether it’s necessary.

"Where’s ZiChen now?" She asked, pushing herself toward the driving seat so her eyes could see the phone that YanLan had held as the car hadn’t drove away yet. "Is he busy? Or is he still in the building?"

"He’s currently in a meeting with a shareholder. He’s here," YanLan showed his phone screen, showing that Li ZiChen was in a night club where the shareholder had decided to meet him at.

"Hm," she hummed while looking at the place, "Can we go there? But don’t tell Li ZiChen about this, I want to surprise him," she smiled, slightly grinning as she thought about seeing Li ZiChen.

This was perhaps her very first time of ever reaching out to someone first.

YanLan was quick on his thinking, also delighted with the idea of surprising Li ZiChen so he nodded his head eagerly, "Alright! Let’s keep this as a surprise for him. Hehehe, I can’t wait to see his eyes wide from shock."

Away from the two tricksters, Li ZiChen saw the text from YanLan and he frowned. Having seen all the actors in the project and being someone in the industry, he could tell at once that there were really some troublesome characters that had managed to slip into the production.

He was going to make a call to Director Chu as soon as possible but at work, Li ZiChen kept his professionalism and had only texted Director Chu about how he needed to talk soon and to shut the production for the day to let all the actress to go home.

Thankfully, AiLin had told YanLan to keep the details as minimal as possible, if not, Li ZiChen would have stormed off from the place and run to her side.

After a while, he noticed there was no response from YanLan, concluding that his cousin must be driving Ailin back to home.

He closed his phone, looking at the older man in front of him who was looking at the dancers, his eyes glued while he ignored the performance and the ladies who were winking at him, his eyes following his phone and never once leaving to look at the women around him no matter how hard they tried to seduce him.

"Mister Li," said the man in English, his words laced with joy as he was smiling to the ninth as two women hugged his shoulders each. "Aren’t you going to enjoy yourself? Drink and dance a little. It’s good to relax once in a while."

Li ZiChen turned to the man and his eyes narrowed but he kept his words cool, "I have my lover waiting for me at home, I wouldn’t want to touch a woman while I’m committed."

"Oh come on, I’m a married man. But as you should understand that us men have desires that sometimes our wives at home couldn’t handle," shrugged the man who had pulled his cigarettes which the two girls gladly lit up for him. "The trick to a long lasting and peaceful household is for you to play around here and there, keep it a secret- I’ll keep this as our secret. You fulfill your desire, your wife won’t know or hear about anything, isn’t that a good deal?"

Li ZiChen lowered his lips into a smile, one that was as sharp as a blade, but his words carried a venomous edge. "I’m impressed," he began, his tone laced with mock admiration, "at how effortlessly you can say something so vile with a straight face. Truly, a talent."

The man’s smirk faltered slightly, but he quickly recovered, blowing out a puff of smoke. "It’s not vile— it’s practical. You wouldn’t understand. You’re young, idealistic—"

ZiChen cut him off, his voice calm yet dangerously cold, "Young age doesn’t mean being foolish. Sometimes we are wiser. Don’t worry Mr. Guan you can continue with your endeavor, I have no intention of stopping you, but I’d rather that you of this is your idea of wisdom, do me a favor: don’t share it. The world already has enough rot."

Mr Guan frowned voice strained in embarrassment and anger, "ZiChen. You’re young so I think you forgot how I am once your father’s closest friend and he wouldn’t be happy with how you speak to me."

"My father will say the same thing, Mr Guan, or perhaps he had once told you this before?"

Mr Guan was shut at once, his expression seemed to have confirmed Li ZiChen who had hit the mark. With a shrug of his shoulders, Li ZiChen pushed himself to stand from the place.

"We have came to an agreement so I assume this conversation would end here now?" As he asked the rest of his men stood from all the seats in the nightclub, startling even the dancers who had yelled and ran away from the place.

Mr Guan’s face drained from blood as he looked around, finding himself in a pickle as he rubbed his hands, offering his most polite face, "Come on, Mr Li. It was just a light hearted joke. You’re going to continue with the agreement, aren’t you? I mean, it’s not as if you are married, being in a relationship so committed when you’re still young is a waste of your youth, is what I’m saying. But if you don’t agree-"

Li ZiChen turned his face, his gaze covered with disgust as he knitted his eyebrows at Mr Guan, "I do not care what you think about relationship seeing you can still sit here laughing while your wife is waiting at home, but I have never respected a man who doesn’t respect his own family. About the agreement, it can be talked again next time and hopefully not in such a place like this."

Mr Guan panicked, "Mr Li! Mr Li, please-" the door shut on his face as Li ZiChen made his way out of the room. With arm crossed he leaned to the elevator and leaned on the wall while his men entered in turns.

Tsuki was the first to comment, "Should we do it as always?"

Li ZiChen nodded once, his expression calm and unreadable. Taiyo chirped in with a teasing tone, "Again? You really do love tattling on husbands who cheat on their wives, don’t you, boss?"

Li ZiChen’s gaze remained steady as he replied, "It’s not tattling. It’s telling them what they deserve to know. It’s none of my business until they make it my business by doing it right in front of me. They want a wife who stay at home and serve them while doing whatever they could outside the home and calling it necessary since they’ve been working at home. Don’t you think it’s unfair?"

The twin brothers giggled, "As I thought boss, you’re different. Your father will be happy if he knows about this."

"Wait but uncle also does the same thing often doesn’t he? Did you maybe learn from him?"

The two twins continued their conversation as the elevator door opened. Li ZiChen looked downward, a smile softened his lips as he looked at the picture he had taken of AiLin.

Meanwhile the secretary let out a whisper, "Sir, there is another appointment requested by the managerial of YouHan company about the new product that will be introduced in Li electronics."

"At what time?" Li ZiChen pulled his watch as he found that it was almost nine at night.

"Around ten, sir," answered the secretary quickly.

"Tell him to adjust the appointment tomorrow. I need to be home before AiLin goes to sleep," Li ZiChen then pushed his phone to his pocket. Distracted, he continued, "It will be dangerous if she’s asleep at night without my presence, what she could do to put herself-"

"ZI CHEN!"

Li ZiChen’s forehead immediately turned into a frown. He turned his head, his eyes almost snapping over the left side of his shoulders as he knew that voice which belonged to Mei Hua.

The young girl was all smiles. Even though she had been kicked out of her family house, she still believe that it won’t be long before she could come back home and her smile was wide when she saw Li ZiChen, happy to see him after such a long time.
