Chapter 180: Tense Tea Time
Chapter 180: Tense Tea Time
It took AiLin a long time to understand what kind of position she was in. So much informations flooded into her mind and as she was about to think whether to flee or to stay and taunt the elderly woman which would probably be a bad idea, Su HaiTan was quick on his feet as he made his way toward her. His hands outstretched toward her shoulders and his other hand extended forward.
There was delight on his face as he uttered, "I didn’t know that you would be here to eat with us too, AiLin! Grandma, why didn’t you tell this previously to me, if you do I would have dressed up better."
AiLin was stunned by how eager Su HaiTan was in having her as one of his friends and to sit down in this table as if he was so naive that he wasn’t aware of how sour the relationship of Elder Hua to her birth mother. She suspect that Su HaiTan was only pretending to be a fool as his face says how he was showing less than what he actually know. But at the other hand, his youthful face that looked like a male idol that would always capture the young girl’s heart and those elder women appeared so innocent that doubting him turn difficult.
She moved her gaze to Elder Hua, the grandmother who hadn’t only harmed her mother, causing her to live a hell, but also hurt Li ZiChen with the intention of killing him.
Clenching her hands, she saw that Elder Hua’s face was as expressionless as a paper but she had eyed her back with such a fierce gaze as if she was a thief who had broke into her home. AiLin stared at the woman before bowing her neck slightly, "It’s a pleasure to meet you, Elder Hua."
Su HaiTan looked at AiLin’s face, recognizing that she seemed to be so unfamiliar with her own grandmother and saw that Elder Hua seemed to studying her, seizing her figure from the rounds of her head to the bottom of her shoes.
"Why have you came here?" Elder Hua inquired sharply and AiLin could tell that this woman wasn’t so happy to see her. But it wasn’t as if she was happy to see her either.
"I had entered the wrong room," AiLin said and then she smiled, "Though it’s a coincident, I’m glad that I could at least catch a glimpse of you considering how I have never met you before. I have heard a lot about you."
The old woman’s eyes turned darkly amused as she remarked, "I also have heard a lot about you."
As expected of a woman who would kill others when they didn’t suit her palate, even her words are so ominous.
"Since you are here, take a seat," said the Elder Hua which was something AiLin hadn’t expected as she thought that she would have been shooed off to walk out of the room. After deciding on staying and learning the woman who is her real grandmother, AiLin pulled her phone from her purse.
She texted briefly to Li ZiChen: [Lots of things happened and I’m about to sit down and talk to Elder Hua. Don’t be too worried, I won’t get hurt, I promise]
Right after she had sent those message a hand plopped right in front of her phone, covering the screen. She lifted her chin, finding Su HaiTan who was staring at her face, smile on his lips while he stared at her expressions as he spoke, "I think using your phone in a conversation is quite rude, AiLin."
AiLin pulled her phone from his hands and answered dismissively, "True, but I just had to send this message before sitting down."
Su HaiTan watched as she walked beside him and then take a seat where it seems closest to the door. If she want to escape, she just need to turn her body and run from the door, her escape plan was fool proof and only then did she sit down with the other two odd people.
The only one who wasn’t affected by the quietness seemed to be Su HaiTan as he continued, "But I still feel sorry that you have to see such an embarrassing side of me, grandma."
"It is not your fault," the older woman seemed really much kinder to Su HaiTan as the rumors had entailed. "Sometimes there are those stupid girls who think of a man’s slight kindness as his interest in her."
AiLin could note the change of spiteful energy coming from Elder Hua upon saying the word "girls". The people who explained Elder Hua’s despise toward female seemed to just be right on the coin.
Su HaiTan continued, disregarding how this conversation should have stayed private. "But I did made sure to clear it between me and Miss NianNian that we are just friends. Yet to suddenly find her trying to kiss me earlier, that was quite..." he sighed, "It is very embarrassing."
Opening her eyes slightly, AiLin showed so confused expression to Su HaiTan for him to catch it and explained to her with a smile, "Right you must be confused about what had happened. You do remember miss NianNian, don’t you, AiLin? I was a close friend to her before but I then found out how behind my back she had introduced herself as my partner. I don’t really like that idea as..."
His eyes lingered on her face and AiLin tilted her head with a fake smile, "As?"
"I have someone I like," he said, his gaze piercing her but she hope that the man wasn’t saying now that the person he likes is her as that would make him so off putting to her.
"Then she kissed you?" she asked, veering his focus.
"I cut off my friendship after everything with her and she suddenly found out that I was having my monthly dinner with Grandma Hua in this hotel. She rushed in and then tried to kiss me."
AiLin furrowed her eyebrows, thinking of how low Jiang NianNian would go all for the sake to live as the socialites she always seem to admire and was jealous of even though usually she wouldn’t ever do such a thing. Was she desperate? Especially after the failed project, the Jiang Family’s status was dipping low, and perhaps that was the reason for her to do what she did.
A smile appeared on AiLin’s lips as everything was going the way she wanted. Jiang NianNian need to be more desperate. So desperate like Lu Ping was, and eventually walk into her trap and fall into the Hell she appeared from.
Then she heard Elder Hua muttering spitefully, "There are many women who think the best way to achieve success is by sleeping their bodies off to other men. Be aware of those women, HaiTan, you don’t want to ever involve yourself with someone of such a loose morale. Women like that are nothing more than a prostitute."
AiLin couldn’t help but felt a little annoyed by what Elder Hua had said. She seemed to simply dismiss everything to be women’s fault even though she was a woman herself. This was rather off putting.
"Yes, people should learn from Auntie Valentine," said the naive toned Su HaiTan. "She built her own name in the company, work hard as she could, and achieve everything with sincere hard work."
AiLin saw Su HaiTan’s eyes on her and heard him ask her, "Aren’t you also proud of your mother, Ailin?"
"I am," she replied with a smile, "Her current success came all from her hard work," though now that success was stolen by the younger son of Elder Hua. AiLin had heard everything from Vicky earlier before she had stepped out of their restaurant room. She found out how her mother had been kicked out from her position to a place where it was so desolate and fill with problem. What Elder Hua wanted to do was to push all the blame that happen in that place all to her mother.
AiLin’s eyes landed on Elder Hua as she lovingly stated, "Well it’s a humble opinion but sometimes, it’s not only whether they are male or female. There are many times when male peers steal the female’s achievement and make it their own. I’ve heard it happen so many times," like your own younger son, added AiLin in her head.
Elder Hua seemed unperturbed by AiLin’s remark and instead answered with a scoff, "Then the female should have worked harder to make sure that achievement wouldn’t be taken away from them."
AiLin raised her eyebrows. So if a man steal, that’s the woman’s fault? And when a woman steal, that’s the woman’s fault as well?
It seems there’s something broken inside Elder Hua’s head as despite being a woman too, she really held this deep hatred against other women.
Elder Hua then commented, "Valentine might have succeeded here and there in few of her works but they are too small to be mentioned. Besides, women should rather stay at home and make her family happy. She had been doing too much and eventually cause more problem to her own children and husband."
"Mother had never caused me to have a problem," AiLin answered, "I am more than proud to see her achievement and father never once hate that side of her, instead he admires it."
Elder Hua let out a sarcastic smile and looked at AiLin’s face before she remarked sharply, "Like your mother aren’t you? You two always have an answer to everything. Do you think that everything you do is always right?
