Mrs Fox Heinous Revenge: Can You Love A Villainess like Me? -
Chapter 117: Odd Man’s Kindness
Chapter 117: Odd Man’s Kindness
AiLin quickly explained what she had dreamt, excluding the part about that young delinquent as she couldn’t understand why that had played an important role in her memories, but she explained to him how she had seen and heard the moment where Mrs Jiang had confessed the truth about her infidelity toward Mr Jiang, and how her hatred stemmed from her fear of being caught red handed for cheating.
It was a karma.
AiLin pursed her lips.
She didn’t have any reason to be abused. Even if Mrs Hua, her birth mother, had really exchanged her to Jiang NianNian, the truth is, Mrs Jiang had an affair with Mr Jiang’s older brother and truth is, even if she wasn’t related to the two, Mrs Jiang was the one in the fault for her infidelity.
"I had always thought it was weird," said Li ZiChen that made her attention grabbed toward him.
"Such as?"
"Fact is, your birth mother, Mrs Hua, had always made sure that whenever Jiang Family had a DNA test with you and the family, it would come clean to prove that you were really their child. But Mrs Jiang seemed very convinced that you aren’t her daughter and you’re a byproduct of mistakes, even though..."
"Even though she was the one who had given birth to me," she completed his guess and she tightened the clench on her chest. She realized now that the hatred on Mrs Jiang’s eyes and those times when she had tried to kill her was fueled by the desire to keep her mistake a hidden forever. It was why Mrs Jiang could never bring herself to love AiLin, because she feared that this secret of her would one day be found out.
It was like a karma.
As if the world wanted to prove Mrs Jiang’s infidelity with her presence.
"But wouldn’t that mean that Jiang NianNian could be an affair child?" She suddenly raised, questioning it out loud as she wondered again in herself if Jiang NianNian ever looked like Mr Jiang. She then realized while thinking back that no, Jiang NianNian or MengYao, both of them never really looked like Mr Jiang. Though perhaps Mrs Jiang was confident about having the affair a proper secret because the man she had an affair with had been Mr Jiang’s older brother. Their similarities wouldn’t raise a question as Mr Jiang and his older brother wasn’t too far apart in looks yet AiLin had features completely different from them so it must have freaked Mrs Jiang out to point of madness.
"It could be," answered Li ZiChen as he hummed, "It’s in two days isn’t it?"
She nodded. What Li ZiChen asked was the party that would be held by Jiang Company as they would be signing contract with Lu Ping’s family. Though they were all still blissfully unaware of the fact that the land certificate had long gone to her hand and now that it was hers as Lu Ping had exchanged it to pay for her debt. It wasn’t true legal means but she had spent the last week to make sure that it has became legally hers.
With Canary’s help everything had gone well so Li ZiChen came up with a suggestion, "How about you use this time to poke the truth out of them? And also find whether Jiang NianNian is really related to Mr Jiang or she is really the product of Mrs Jiang’s infidelity."
AiLin stood up and clapped her hand, "True," she smiled and cupped his cheeks, bending her body as he was still sitting on the ground beside the sofa, "You’re right! We can just check it ourself but I don’t want to go alone."
"I’ll come with you," he said at once, without missing a beat. "But before that, you said earlier that your memories were a little missing?"
"Yes but that shouldn’t be much a problem," she brushed it aside, not bothering around it which Li ZiChen found odd but he nodded and only kept this fact to his mind so he could speak to the psychiatrist.
As she walked away from the sofa to take a drink, Li ZiChen stared at her small back, "Don’t you feel like it’s time for you to visit... the psychiatrist?"
"No."
She didn’t turn back as she rejected the idea.
"Mr Li," she then said his name in a polite manner that casted an instant distance between them. "I know you are worried but I know my mental health better than anyone and don’t worry, I don’t plan to overdose. I really only thought drinking the medicine would speed up the effect."
Li ZiChen didn’t expect her to speak so straightforwardly but he felt uneasy with the way she had forcefully try to convince him that she would be alright as if she was trying to cut him off from even trying to help her out.
AiLin spent the next two days lounging in the house. She didn’t have much energy to do anything after her sickness and find herself too unenthusiastic. It wasn’t her first time to suddenly lose all urge to be productive but she made sure that she was still on her game for her revenge plan, talking to Canary a few times a day to make sure that Lu Ping had gone to the sea to work as a fisherman, quite a dangerous work for someone who despise the sea and fear the storm.
At times, AiLin would be accompanied by a knock on her door as Nanny Po would bring snacks. She didn’t feel like eating but seeing Nanny Po seemingly fearful and concerned, she decided to eat though it wasn’t a lot.
When Li ZiChen came home, he would usually cook for her too, offering her food and seeing how he had gone so far to cook for her even though he was tired, she felt bad to reject the food and ate it together with him for the past two dinners.
She had also noticed that despite her rejections for their relationship to grow, Li ZiChen never once step back or become dispirited. Instead, he would try again and again to make her trust him.
She found this a bit odd and tickled.
But she didn’t want this to be love. She can’t afford it.
Since that day, he didn’t bring up the talk about going for counseling which was good to her but she found herself always finding Li ZiChen reading some psychology book on the corner.
What a weird man... there are other women better than her yet why is he so driven to help her out?
Because she helped him once before? In the past? But she couldn’t recall it, and even if she did help him, she didn’t think he should try so hard to repay her back as only good people’s kindness should be return not someone like her...
