By the time AiLin had left the audition room, she waited to see Li JingYi. He was the one who had called her here but after seeing he was in one of the seats of the audition today, she wondered why he had asked her to come so early. After all he seemed to be preoccupied with another three to four hours for the audition.

Unexpectedly, Li JingYi rushed out of the audition room, he made his way toward AiLin upon seeing that she was sitting idly while staring at nothingness. Li JingYi caught by her and huffed as he made his way to stand before her.

She stared at the young man and regained her energy, "What? Did you got startled seeing me in the audition?"

"Of course!" Li JingYi said but he shook his head, "That acting was amazing! I didn’t know that you’re an actress, sister in law."

Sister in law? Since when did this kid recognize her as his sister in law? Did her acting impressed him so much to the point that he would start calling her his family?

"I’m not an actress," she brushed off with a laugh, "Though I do like to act."

"But that makes me scared," said Li JingYi and she tilted her head in question, seeing him hurrying to explain, "I mean! When you acted like XinYi, it felt to me as if you’re really going to... end yourself."

Her smile faltered but she quickly slapped the younger brother by his back and scoffed, "Me? Killing myself? Look at me, do you really think someone like me would do that?"

Seeing AiLin’s wide smile, Li JingYi suspect he was the one who was just caught up by her act, "Right, you won’t. Brother will be really sad if you’re gone."

"He will?" She asked in a réthorique tone and turned to look at the sky that was so blue, "Do you know that the percentage of people who attempt suicide is higher on a sunny day?"

"Why would you say that?" Li JingYi rubbed his arms in a shiver, "After that acting, learning this makes me scared even more! And Brother will be sad if you’re gone from him, alright? Trust me, I know him best."

She chuckled and shook her head, "No, he won’t."

Li JingYi frowned, "Why are you so certain?"

"Because why me?" She whispered and then muttered under her breath, "It’s filthy."

Li JingYi heard her loud and clear though their surroundings were filled with noise. Feeling annoyed that AiLin had called his brother’s love filthy, he was going to pop off like a corn kernel in anger when someone suddenly wrapped her hands around his neck. Her long fingers dabbed in pink blush nail art drew a line on Li JingYi’s cheekbones as she huddled and rested her head on her neck.

A wide sweet smile appeared on her lips, "JingYi! I was waiting for you, did the audition finish? It’s faster than I thought."

Li JingYi’s eyes turned to Mei Hua and a wide blush powdered his cheeks. AiLin saw the immediately delight in seeing the woman in his face as he said, "Mei Hua! Yeah, Director Chu and Gu had made their decision at once. So they immediately closed the audition."

"Really?" Mei Hua asked but her smile was confident as AiLin noted her eyes that seemed triumphant as though she had won a prize. Mei Hua knew the audition wouldn’t go for long today and that’s because she had acted in it earlier and impressed Director Gu and Writer Xuan. Of course Li JingYi her childhood friend would be on her side and while Director Chu seemed unsatisfied with two people on her side, he wouldn’t be able to say no in choosing her for the role of XinYi.

"Yeah," Li JingYi looked at AiLin who was staring at the two with a soft smile on her lips but confused. He quickly introduced Mei Hua who had undone her hands from his neck, "Miss AiLin, this is Mei Hua! My childhood friend."

AiLin smiled and nodded, "My Name is AiLin."

"AiLin? That’s a familiar name," hummed Mei Hua who then reached out her hand to her. AiLin returned the handshake to feel the girl pulling her body forward, when realizing that she was stronger, Mei Hua instead moved forward and hugged her, wrapping her arms on her body that made AiLin’s face went stony.

She quickly moved back after the hug and turned aside. Chills filled her body as being touched by someone she wasn’t familiar with immediately made the cold biting nervousness to spread like ants all over her skin.

Mei Hua was startled when AiLin pushed away after the hug and quickly showed a sad expression, "Was I too friendly? I’m sorry, my love language is to touch someone I care about."

AiLin shook her head, "No problem, I just don’t like being touched too much by strangers," she wiped her back that felt wet from sweat and then saw the brief offended expression on Mei Hua’s face that disappeared.

"I see, I understand," Mei Hua muttered and then she brought up a smile again, veering the conversation around, "I am Li JingYi’s childhood best friend and also to his older brother! We three were like siblings that no one could even separate us from each other. Our family is also close that every time there is a holiday, I would come to visit them and go with their trips, you can even think that I’m a part of Li Family members."

AiLin eyed Mei Hua who was making a plain point that she was the one who is closest to the Li siblings. She didn’t argue and nod, "Sounds like a lovely friendship from childhood."

"Indeed, but I haven’t seen you before," Mei Hua said, "Who are you to JingYi?"

Li JingYi who was oblivious to how forward Mei Hua was which could go very rudely at one point let AiLin to answer the question.

AiLin answered mildly, "Their friend." And that was all. She didn’t add more. She didn’t mention that Li ZiChen and her had lived together and how sometimes she could feel that the gaze Li ZiChen had on her was too sweet like a confectionary that could cause one a cavity.

She didn’t want to.

She didn’t want to ruin his life.

"Only a friend?" Repeated Mei Hua as she pulled a wide grin, her eyes turning triumphant, "I see. Only a friend."
