Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Ex-Girlfriend

Fu Shinian’s gaze fell back onto Wei Shaoqin from Su Mu with indifference:

"Why is Junior President Wei here? To apologize?"

Wei Shaoqin looked at Fu Shinian:

"What have I done wrong?"

"You’re well aware," he said and then ignored him, walking straight into the house.

Wei Shaoqin smiled slightly behind his back, out of sight. Everything he had done today hadn’t been expected to escape Fu Shinian’s notice. With eagle-like eyes, if Fu Shinian could be fooled by such casual tricks, then Wei wouldn’t need to engage in cunning business tactics anymore.

Indeed, it was Wei Shaoqin who had orchestrated these events. He came to the film and television city specifically to take a jab at Qin Nianwan. Initially, he hadn’t decided on his approach until Qin Nianwan’s phone call to Sun Raorao the previous night. After Sun Raorao relayed their conversation to him, Wei Shaoqin decided he would turn the tables on them. What he hadn’t anticipated was Fu Shinian risking himself to save her. Even if Fu Shinian hadn’t intervened, Wei had a contingency in place to ensure Su Mu’s safety, but once Fu acted, Wei didn’t make a move, considering it an opportunity for them to reconcile.

Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu:

"I’m returning to Shen City now. Will you come with me or stay here?"

"I’ll go with you."

Wei Shaoqin objected in dissatisfaction: "Su Mu, it was me who invited you to leave with me first. How could you just turn around and agree to him?"

Fu Shinian didn’t look at Wei Shaoqin but gazed down at Su Mu:

"Who is this person?"

Su Mu blinked, and smoothly replied, "I don’t know him, was about to call the police just now."

Wei Shaoqin: "..."

——

The setting sun bathed the entire sky in red, and a flock of birds flew by, adding a touch of profound historical feel to the quaint film and television city. Song Yi was already standing in front of the car, holding the doors open for the two of them. As Fu Shinian was about to bend down and get into the car, he suddenly saw Qin Nianwan approaching.

Su Mu saw her too and indifferently withdrew her gaze:

"I will take a walk upfront."

Fu Shinian glanced at her, "Don’t wander far."

"Okay."

After Su Mu left, Song Yi found an excuse to leave temporarily as well. Only then did Qin Nianwan step closer, standing about a meter away from Fu Shinian. He looked at her indifferently:

"Is there something you want to say?"

"You trust me, right?"

"Haven’t I answered that question before? I only believe what I see."

Qin Nianwan couldn’t hide her disappointed expression:

"So, you believe I really did something to harm Su Mu?"

Fu Shinian didn’t answer immediately. Glancing in the direction Su Mu had left, he saw her silhouette elongated by the sunset, just like the time she wrote her name on the roadside and then ran to erase it because of his words. On the way back then, the sunset also stretched her shadow long, but the difference was, on that day he was by her side, whereas now she was alone, making her figure seem even more lonely and desolate.

Realizing he was lost in thought, Qin Nianwan was about to follow his gaze when he had already regained his composure and looked back at her:

"Nianwan, Su Mu is not someone you should touch. Remember that."

That statement hit Qin Nianwan harder than if Fu Shinian had believed she was responsible for sabotaging the brakes. She looked at Fu Shinian incredulously:

"I don’t quite understand what you mean. Have you fallen in love with her?"

Fu Shinian smiled faintly:

"She is my wife. Protecting her from harm is my duty and responsibility. If there’s anyone in this world who can hurt her, it’s only me. Regardless of whether you’ve done something to Su Mu already or are planning to, I have only one thing to say, I will never let off anyone who harms her."

"What about me?" Qin Nianwan asked mournfully, "What am I?"

"An ex-girlfriend."

Without a second thought, he finished speaking and walked toward Su Mu. Qin Nianwan watched his receding figure silently, witnessing him gradually catch up to the distant Su Mu to walk side by side. Her hand involuntarily tightened into a fist. Clearly, it should have been she who was at his side, walking with him...

Song Yi appeared out of nowhere, and when he saw Qin Nianwan still foolishly standing in place, he nodded faintly, got into the driver’s seat, started the engine, and slowly drove forward.

Su Mu liked such scenery, and also liked to stroll slowly in it, giving her a sense of comfort as if nothing else in the world mattered. When she became aware of someone beside her, she instinctively looked over, and upon seeing Fu Shinian, she smiled slightly and said,

"I didn’t go far."

Fu Shinian didn’t look at her and lightly responded, "Hmm, with those little short legs, how far do you think you could go?"

Su Mu: "..."

On the way back, Su Mu noticed Fu Shinian was intermittently moving his leg and discreetly massaged his knee a couple of times. She looked at him worriedly and asked,

"Are you hurt?"

The driving Song Yi also got startled, "Hurt? Mr. Fu, are you all right?"

Fu Shinian, who had been resting with his eyes closed, found their conversation somewhat noisy,

"You two would love for me to be hurt, wouldn’t you?"

Song Yi didn’t dare say anything more, but Su Mu was fearless, especially when facing the possibility that Fu Shinian might be hurt. She insisted on rolling up his trouser leg to check, but he stopped her with his hand,

"Don’t touch me all over."

Su Mu was anxious,

"Let me take a look."

Fu Shinian smiled,

"Wait until we get home. Then you can look as long as you want."

Song Yi: "Do you think I’m deaf?"

After the car entered the city area, Song Yi directly drove to the hospital. Seeing that Fu Shinian didn’t comment, Su Mu realized he must have informed Song Yi earlier. Thinking he was genuinely injured, she became extremely nervous. Fu Shinian observed her reaction and suddenly had a feeling that if it were possible, she would have probably picked him up and rushed him to the hospital already.

This realization improved his mood quite a bit, until he got out of the car and saw Qiao Yu waiting at the entrance with a stretcher. His expression instantly turned cold.

Su Mu also saw it and became even more nervous, supporting him constantly,

"Where exactly are you hurt? Why didn’t you tell me? Is it that serious?"

Fu Shinian ignored Su Mu and looked indifferently at Qiao Yu, then glanced at the stretcher beside him,

"What are you doing?"

"Wasn’t it a car accident? Aren’t car accident victims usually not supposed to move? Even if they can move, there might be fractures or something. I thoughtfully prepared a stretcher for you. Why do you look so disdainful? You really are ungrateful."

Fu Shinian smiled faintly,

"I am Lv Dongbin."

Qiao Yu blinked, "What do you mean?"

Fu Shinian didn’t bother with him and walked straight into the hospital. Although Su Mu was worried, she saw that the way he walked didn’t change, and she didn’t insist on having him lie on the stretcher. A man’s pride, ah...

As Su Mu wanted to catch up quickly with Fu Shinian, Qiao Yu suddenly came to his senses and grabbed Su Mu’s arm,

"Was your man just calling me a dog?"

Struggling to suppress her laughter, Su Mu shook her head,

"I didn’t say that."

Just as Qiao Yu was about to say something, Fu Shinian, who was walking ahead, turned his head and saw him holding Su Mu. He spoke discontentedly,

"Take your hands off."

Qiao Yu: "..."

Neither of these two is any good!
