Chapter 67: Chapter 67: You’re Good-looking, but Still Single

Su Mu always felt that someone had been tracking her over the past few days, yet when she turned around, she could never see anything.

So, she began to wonder if she might really be suffering from paranoid delusion, especially after Su Shiyue had occasionally schemed against her, making her admittedly concerned. However, thinking of Su Shiyue far away in England, and Fu Shinian not permitting anyone else to intervene, it seemed unlikely that history would repeat itself.

After Wen Han returned to the military, every evening when Su Mu came back from the Wen Family’s place, the driver would get out of the car and accompany her to the gate of her community, mentioning that it was arranged by Wen Han.

Wen Shaoyuan continued to be as understanding and considerate as ever, but differently, Wen Han had started coming back every weekend to stay for a day. When he was too busy to leave, he would video call with Wen Shaoyuan. Su Mu didn’t know if her words last time had an effect, but seeing Wen Shaoyuan’s increasingly happy smile, she felt it was a good change.

As for her and Fu Shinian, it seemed they were always marking time, and soon, whenever she felt she had grown a little closer to him, something would happen that returned them back to square one.

Su Mu encountered Wei Shaoqin a week later when Jiang Bei finally took a break and asked her to go shopping with him. Unfortunately, Su Mu was tied up since Wen Han’s parents, though they had already met, were still very busy. That weekend, they had no rest either, so Su Mu spent the morning at the Wen Family’s, accompanying Wen Shaoyuan.

After hearing this, Jiang Bei didn’t think it was a reason that should stop them from going out together:

"What’s the problem? Just bring Shaoyuan along."

Su Mu, "That doesn’t seem very appropriate, does it?"

"What’s inappropriate about it? Kids don’t need to study every day, they’d turn into fools. I know you’re a teacher and can’t really say much, but just wait, I’m driving over now to pick you and Shaoyuan up."

Jiang Bei ended the call without giving Su Mu a chance to argue.

Jiang Bei arrived quickly, and Shaoyuan also knew that Jiang Bei was coming to take him out. Hearing the car downstairs, he ran down gleefully, and Su Mu sighed softly but followed.

Downstairs, Jiang Bei had already picked up Wen Shaoyuan and pinched his nose:

"Little guy, you’ve put on more weight. Don’t eat so much, or you won’t be a handsome boy anymore."

Su Mu looked at her speechlessly, "He’s growing right now."

"Growing is growing, but appearances still matter. Otherwise, no one will want him when he’s grown up."

Wen Shaoyuan smiled at Jiang Bei:

"Aunt Xiaobei sure is pretty, but to this day, still no one wants her."

Jiang Bei, "..."

Su Mu, "..."

Perhaps Wen Shaoyuan’s comment hit Jiang Bei too hard because even as they were almost in the downtown area, she still dwelled on it:

"Shaoyuan, I actually think looks aren’t the most important thing. The way you talk is a big problem. You’re only 5, yet you’ve already shown your ’straight-man’ trait. What will you be like when you grow up? Girls, no matter their age, should be complimented, not told hurtful truths. Understand?"

Wen Shaoyuan sat in the backseat’s child safety seat, swaying his legs:

"Don’t understand."

"Don’t understand? Let Sister Su teach you, she’s your teacher."

"What I meant is, I don’t understand what you adults think all day long." Wen Shaoyuan hummed softly, "On one hand, you teach us to be honest and polite, but on the other, you tell us not to speak some truths. Can’t you all live simpler? Isn’t it exhausting?"

Jiang Bei looked at Su Mu incredulously, "Su Su, am I being scorned here, by a five-year-old kid?"

Su Mu could no longer hold back her laughter. In the time she had spent with Shaoyuan, she had never seen this side of him. It seemed whether one was a warm man or a ’straight-man’ really depended on the person, and clearly, Jiang Bei and his vibes just didn’t match.

After parking the car in the underground parking, Jiang Bei suddenly remembered something important she had overlooked:

"I should have just gone to the hospital."

Su Mu looked at her, "Do you still have work at the hospital?"

"No, I was thinking of getting a wheelchair so we can push Xiaoyuan around if he gets tired, so it won’t delay our shopping."

Su Mu: "..."

Upon hearing this, Wen Shaoyuan silently stared at her, "Auntie Xiaobei, if a boy wants to find a wife, he absolutely cannot say he’s tired or impatient while shopping with a girl. Don’t worry, although I’m only five years old, I definitely won’t say I’m tired. After all, you can’t even find a man to go shopping with you."

Jiang Bei had been lectured by Wen Shaoyuan countless times today, but this time she couldn’t hold back and gently tapped his head:

"Why are you worrying about so many things instead of studying at your young age?"

Wen Shaoyuan slightly furrowed his brows and touched his own hair:

"Don’t touch my hair; I don’t like it."

"I don’t like you saying I don’t have a partner either."

"But what I said is the truth, and you’ve said that kids should not lie."

Jiang Bei wanted to say something else when Su Mu timely intervened; she really didn’t know how long she would let this big and small duo continue arguing:

"Alright, both of you stop talking now. Aren’t we here to go shopping? If you two keep arguing, we might as well go home and provide you a more convenient environment."

Wen Shaoyuan held Su Mu’s hand:

"Sister Su, I won’t say it anymore; men should give in to women."

Jiang Bei: "..."

Wen Shaoyuan’s words didn’t affect Jiang Bei’s mood for shopping; starting from the first floor of the mall, she swiped her card on almost every level. Su Mu gradually understood that Wen Shaoyuan indeed hadn’t affected her, he had actually motivated her, but seeing her happy with the purchases, Su Mu didn’t say anything.

Finally, in the children’s clothing section, she even bought Wen Shaoyuan two sets of clothes and forcefully handed him the shopping bags:

"Carry your own things."

Wen Shaoyuan was about to reflexively say ’But I didn’t ask you to buy them for me,’ but looking back and seeing that Sister Su had already helped carry quite a few things, and to avoid triggering her to buy even more, Wen Shaoyuan finally showed a childlike smile:

"Thank you, Auntie Xiaobei."

Jiang Bei was happy, "Come on, let’s go eat."

Wen Shaoyuan finally breathed a sigh of relief and quietly walked up to Su Mu, looking up and asking in confusion:

"Sister Su, why don’t you buy anything?"

Su Mu smiled slightly, "Because Sister Su already has clothes at home, I don’t need any."

"But isn’t it said that a woman’s closet is always missing one piece of clothing?"

Su Mu felt that Wen Shaoyuan knew a bit too much, "Where did you hear that?"

"Mengmeng from our class told me; she never wears the same clothes twice."

No woman doesn’t like new clothes, whether a child or an adult. Yet, how should Su Mu explain to Wen Shaoyuan that she isn’t buying clothes now merely because she’s in debt and can’t afford it?

As she and Wen Shaoyuan walked into the restaurant, they immediately saw Wei Shaoqin. He also saw Su Mu and the child beside her, slightly furrowed his brows, and walked over:

"Don’t tell me this is your son with Fu Shinian."
