Chapter 641: Chapter 641: Wanting to Kill

All the way to the hospital, Su Mu’s emotions were finally somewhat stabilized. Jiang Bei could clearly sense her nervousness—her entire body trembled, her hands were so cold that no amount of warmth could bring them back.

Perhaps everything felt too much like a dream, so along the way, Su Mu kept repeatedly confirming with Jiang Bei:

"Xiaobei, you’re not lying to me, right? Qiqi really came back, she’s really at the hospital right now. If we go there, we’ll see her, right?"

This was already the eighth time Su Mu had asked Jiang Bei this question. Jiang Bei patiently answered once more:

"Yes, Qiqi has come back. We’re about ten minutes away from the hospital. Once we arrive, we’ll see her."

Perhaps it was because she’d asked so many times, or maybe Su Mu had completely realized she wasn’t dreaming anymore, she didn’t ask again. But even so, her emotions did not relax. Instead, they intensified—fear began to creep in, a fear of facing Qiqi’s condition.

She was so tense that she had to keep talking to Jiang Bei just to cope.

"Xiaobei, I’m really nervous right now."

"I can feel it. Try to relax. Qiqi won’t leave again. She’s waiting for you at the hospital."

"I know," Su Mu said. "I won’t let her leave me ever again. But Xiaobei, I don’t know if you understand—I’m scared."

Jiang Bei didn’t fully grasp what Su Mu meant, so she asked softly:

"What are you scared of?"

"I’m scared to see Qiqi."

"Why?"

Su Mu clenched her hands tightly:

"A few days ago, I received a set of photos from Qin Nianwan. In the photos, Qiqi was severely injured—she looked terrible. I don’t even know how to describe it. Just looking at her in those pictures, I felt as though she might disappear from this world at any moment... I know, I know nothing matters more right now than her coming back. I’ve prepared myself for how badly hurt she might be. It’s something we can heal—it’s something we will heal. But I... I don’t know how to face her. I’m afraid..."

Jiang Bei hadn’t known about the photos, but thinking back, she recalled how Su Mu had acted strangely a few days ago—how she recklessly ran off outside. At the time, Su Mu returned with Fu Shinian and said nothing, and Jiang Bei didn’t ask. Now, connecting these pieces, it was likely because of what Su Mu mentioned.

She understood Su Mu’s feelings—truly understood. That kind of emotion is indescribable. Though she knew this fear wouldn’t stop Su Mu from seeing Qiqi, she still reached out to hold Su Mu’s hand:

"Susu, Qiqi needs you the most right now. Like you said, no matter what, we’ll make her healthy again. She’ll get better, and all the suffering she endured—we’ll make sure it’s repaid."

"Even if it’s repaid, then what?" Su Mu stared at Jiang Bei. "The scars on Qiqi’s heart might never be erased."

Jiang Bei didn’t know how to comfort Su Mu. At this moment, she assumed Su Mu was simply too sensitive, or overwhelmed with pent-up emotions and uncertainty. Jiang Bei hadn’t seen the photos of Qiqi, so her imagination didn’t run as far.

Kidnapping. Qiqi was just a child. No matter how cruel Qin Nianwan might be, she wouldn’t go too far with a child, right? But her assumption would prove baseless. The moment she reached the hospital’s ER and saw Qiqi, the only thought that surged through her mind was the urge to rip Qin Nianwan’s skin apart bit by bit!

When Su Mu and Jiang Bei arrived at the hospital, Qiao Yu was already waiting in the lobby. Without saying much, he led the two straight to the designated private room. Qiqi had been transferred from the ER to the Fu family’s exclusive ward on the top floor.

In the elevator, Su Mu was trembling uncontrollably. Jiang Bei’s comforting words had no effect. Even Qiao Yu noticed her overwhelming nervousness, but having already seen Qiqi’s condition himself, he didn’t know what to say. He believed that once Su Mu saw Qiqi, things would only get worse.

Finally, the elevator reached the top floor. As Su Mu stepped out, her legs gave out inexplicably. Caught off guard, Jiang Bei didn’t manage to stop her from falling, but Qiao Yu was quick-eyed and steady-handed, catching her before she hit the floor. Jiang Bei was deeply worried:

"Are you okay?"

Qiao Yu exhaled softly: "Su Mu, you need to be strong right now. Qiqi still needs you."

Su Mu nodded slowly:

"I know, I know."

"Let’s go in. Qiqi is still unconscious—we should check on her first."

Jiang Bei glanced at Qiao Yu at this revelation. Their gazes met, and Qiao Yu had no explanation to give, but he could see the shock in Jiang Bei’s eyes.

Unconscious?

Why was she unconscious?

Upon entering the room, the overwhelming visual rendered all previous feelings meaningless. The petite, frail body lying on the massive hospital bed was hardly visible. The moment Su Mu saw Qiqi, all her fears of facing her vanished into oblivion. She rushed to the bedside, intending to cradle Qiqi in her arms—but the sight of her bandaged head, the scars on her body, and the sound of her barely audible breathing stopped her.

She didn’t dare to touch her, terrified that even the slightest contact would hurt her.

Even now, Su Mu couldn’t fully believe Qiqi was truly back.

This was her child—the flesh and blood torn from her own body. When she first realized she was pregnant, she swore to give her everything beautiful in this world. And yet, before she could fulfill that promise, Qiqi had suffered an unimaginable calamity.

She was so young; she hadn’t even had the chance to understand how wonderful and beautiful this world could be, yet she had been forced to confront its darkest, most sinister side. Now, here she was—breathing carefully, lying lifelessly in bed. But what happens when she wakes up?

What kind of feelings and outlook would Qiqi have toward this world?

Would she forgive this world?

Would she forgive her?

Su Mu dared not think about it, nor did she want to. All she wished was to stay by Qiqi’s side, regardless of what reactions or actions Qiqi might display. She was prepared to understand and accept it all. The only comfort she could offer herself was that Qiqi was still young. Though she faced the ugliest reality so early, her memory of it might not be clear. Perhaps, in time, Qiqi would forget.

Su Mu clung to this belief—only by holding onto it could she keep herself from collapsing.

Jiang Bei, who had been silently watching with her teary eyes, finally understood why Su Mu had said she was scared to face Qiqi. If it were her, she might not have fared any better than Su Mu did.

The guilt and anguish Su Mu carried could crush anyone.
