Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Want to continue?

At that moment, Song Yi, seated in the passenger seat, dared not even breathe. He believed he must have drunk too much on Fu Shinian’s behalf during the dinner, which is why he subconsciously cautioned Fu Shinian, who was resting with his eyes closed in the back seat:

"Mr. Fu, the person ahead seems to be Mrs. Fu."

No sooner had he spoken than Song Yi regretted it, as no one knew better than he how the chill from behind struck him; but it was too late to regret, and he wished he could hide in a crevice, although Mr. Fu hadn’t uttered a word yet.

Only when the car slowly stopped at the villa’s entrance and Song Yi opened the door to let him out did he glance at him faintly:

"You’ve been talking a bit too much lately."

Song Yi: "..."

Su Mu had just reached the villa’s entrance and was about to step inside when a light shone from behind her. She instinctively moved to the side, only to see that the car had stopped right in front of her. Turning around, Su Mu saw Fu Shinian the next second.

Not knowing what he had said to Song Yi, Su Mu could feel Song Yi’s nervousness; then he excused himself like a mouse fleeing from a cat and scrambled into the passenger seat.

Fu Shinian slowly approached Su Mu, who smiled at him:

"Did you have a social engagement tonight?"

Fu Shinian did not answer her question but instead lifted his wrist to check the time, then a cold smile formed on his lips:

"10:20 PM, Mrs. Fu has set a new record for coming home. Is it to earn a bit more to supplement the household?"

Su Mu sensed his displeasure but did not understand why; she had let him know about her tutoring job today, and she believed he was aware of the rain earlier, yet he was still confronting her aggressively. However, Su Mu did not want to be unhappy or to argue, so she explained:

"Wen Shaoyuan was a bit feverish today, so I took extra care of him. Plus, the rain earlier made it inevitable that I’d be delayed."

Fu Shinian snorted softly:

"Why explain all this to me? What you did outside, and why you came home so late, do you think I care?"

Before Su Mu could argue, he had already walked past her and into the house. Watching his figure, Su Mu thought it over and finally guessed some clues. They had come back almost at the same time, and his sarcasm—could it be that he had seen her talking to Wen Han?

But Su Mu soon dismissed this reason. Fu Shinian didn’t like her, so why would he be jealous?

When Su Mu returned to the room, Fu Shinian had already gone upstairs. She put down her bag and went straight to the kitchen; she had smelled a considerable amount of alcohol on him earlier and must have drunk a lot at the banquet. She decided to make him some sobering-up soup.

Carrying the soup back to the bedroom, where Fu Shinian was taking a shower, Su Mu placed the tray on the bedside table and then went to the guest room to wash up in her pajamas.

When Fu Shinian came out of the bathroom, he didn’t see Su Mu. His face was even more sullen than before, and as he wiped his hair and walked toward the bed, he gradually smelled the sweet and tangy scent; then he saw the steaming bowl of sobering-up soup on the bedside table.

Then, he felt considerably more relaxed.

When Su Mu returned to the master bedroom after her shower, she realized this fact and was even more convinced that Fu Shinian wasn’t jealous. Although she felt a tinge of loss, it was a relief that his mood had improved, and it didn’t seem to matter much. She approached the now empty bowl and smiled slightly:

"I made it sweet and tangy today. Did it suit your taste?"

Fu Shinian was engrossed in his book and merely responded without saying much, yet that was enough to satisfy Su Mu.

She took the bowl away, returned to the bedroom, and noticed that Fu Shinian’s hair was still wet, so she asked,

"Shall I help you dry your hair? Sleeping with wet hair can cause headaches."

Su Mu thought he would refuse, as there had been a previous incident when he had angrily thrown the hair dryer, but unexpectedly, he merely responded with a faint "Hmm," catching Su Mu off guard and causing her to pause in place.

It wasn’t until Fu Shinian shifted his gaze from his book to her that he said,

"It seems you were just saying that, not really intending to help me dry my hair."

"No," Su Mu came back to her senses, "I’ll get the hair dryer."

Su Mu plugged in the hair dryer on Fu Shinian’s side, tested the temperature on her palm, and then began to blow his hair. Perhaps finding it comfortable, Fu Shinian put down the book and slowly closed his eyes.

Seeing this, Su Mu smiled slightly; she enjoyed these warm moments.

This was not the first time Su Mu had dried Fu Shinian’s hair, but she still couldn’t help feeling that his hair was very nice. Her fingers moved continuously through his hair, which felt like a very intimate act, perhaps even more so than what happened on the bed.

The sound of the hair dryer was neither too loud nor too soft, but to Su Mu, it felt very quiet. Probably no one could understand her feelings at that moment, a quietness stemming from her heart. If possible, she wished she could extend this moment indefinitely, extend...

However, Fu Shinian’s short hair dried quickly, yet she still couldn’t help but prolong the time, because ordinarily, he wouldn’t allow her to touch his hair like this.

It was only when Fu Shinian spoke:

"How long do you plan to continue?"

The next second, Su Mu stopped her actions. Her hand lingered hesitantly in his hair when suddenly he caught her wrist and forcefully pulled her toward himself. The still on hair dryer fell to the floor as Su Mu was caught off guard, and then the noise from it ceased.

Su Mu thought, another hair dryer broken.

Fu Shinian looked at her intently and slowly spoke:

"Do you like touching my hair?"

Su Mu confronted him from a close distance, saw her small reflection in his eyes, and nodded as if under a spell:

"I do."

Then, she saw Fu Shinian slightly smile, and Su Mu’s heart seemed to melt along with it.

"Would you like to continue?" he asked, like a seductive demon weaving a web, waiting for Su Mu to jump in willingly without hesitation.

"May I?"

"Of course," Fu Shinian said softly, his fingers slowly climbing up Su Mu’s cheek: "But there’s no such thing as a free lunch, Mrs. Fu. What would you like to offer in exchange?"

Su Mu looked at him, silent, seeming to understand something from his eyes, but she dared not speak it out loud. If she was wrong, she would likely die of embarrassment, and although they had resumed their physical relationship the day before, it was under the influence of medication and she was not conscious. Now, however, she was very lucid and unsure how she would react to Fu Shinian’s touch.
