Chapter 604: You Really Are Bold
Chapter 604: Chapter 604: You Really Are Bold
I heard that the shooter involved in that shooting incident has not been caught until now. If this place is where Su Mu was kidnapped and where Fu Shinian was shot in the past, then isn’t it possible that the person who abducted Wen Shaoyuan and Qiqi is the same person who wanted to finish off Su Mu back then? Otherwise, why would they kidnap Qiqi?
Ji Qingluan had many thoughts in her mind, but none of them could be confirmed in such a scenario. She carefully made a round on the first floor, the pitch darkness yielding nothing. Without knowing what was beneath, she didn’t dare to venture down, so she sat next to the stairwell where a wall was situated. It was a spot where she could hear the noises from downstairs and also hide herself in case they came up at any moment.
The underground parking lot was vast but also empty; there were no other sounds around, so the conversation between two people below intermittently reached Ji Qingluan’s ears.
"Why did you suddenly take action today without giving a heads-up? I was startled when I received your call. You really are bold."
Yu Xin spoke:
"I hadn’t planned on doing it today, but the opportunity was just too perfect. Su Yimo had asked for leave from school, so no one would notice she’s missing before school is out, which gives us plenty of time."
"That sounds good, but what’s up with bringing another kid along? Isn’t our target Fu Shinian and his money? This could get us into trouble, couldn’t it?"
"There was no helping it. This child saw me taking away Fu Shinian’s kid. If I had left him behind, the Fu family would probably have been alerted by now, and they would have noticed Fu Shinian’s child was missing." Yu Xin glanced at the still unconscious Wen Shaoyuan: "This child isn’t from an ordinary family either; keeping him really is troublesome."
The conversation broke for a few seconds, and after a short pause, the man spoke:
"What if, we just finish them off now?"
Ji Qingluan’s heart skipped a beat, and before she could react, Yu Xin spoke again: "You’ve killed before, and it’s just a kid. It’s nothing difficult for you. But we have to stay here for two days, and I don’t want you turning this place into a bloody mess. Take the child out and do it there."
"What about you?"
"I have to return the car to the city." Yu Xin said: "It’s too conspicuous here, and the surveillance along the way would have captured it. I’ll take a different route back, then find another way to get here."
The man didn’t speak immediately and laughed after a few seconds:
"I’ve messed around with women, with men, but I’ve never had a child. Since it’s been decided to finish them, why not let me enjoy myself, to taste the exquisite pleasure of this little body."
Yu Xin slightly furrowed his brow but did not disagree:
"As you wish."
"Then you go first, I’ll enjoy the child here, then take them out and finish it."
Yu Xin didn’t say more, and shortly after, Ji Qingluan heard the sound of Yu Xin walking upstairs. She forced down the nausea churning in her chest and hid in the corner behind the wall. Seconds later, the sound of footsteps was audible beside her, gradually moving away until they disappeared completely.
Downstairs, there are two unconscious children, along with an adult male. Ji Qingluan doesn’t know what kind of weapon he has in his hand, but there’s no way he’s unarmed. If she goes down, she’s definitely no match for the man, but if she doesn’t, Wen Shaoyuan’s life will likely be ruined.
If she goes down, perhaps Wen Shaoyuan won’t be saved either, after all, despite Ji Qingluan’s self-defense skills, they are ultimately superficial. For a man, subduing her would be effortless, but if she doesn’t go down, Wen Shaoyuan will certainly be destroyed, even killed.
Ji Qingluan’s hesitation lasted only a few seconds before she stood up from the corner and quietly descended the stairs, step by step.
There were lights downstairs, so Ji Qingluan clearly saw Qiqi, unconscious and bound to a pillar not far from the stairwell, as well as Wen Shaoyuan, who had just been untied and was now held in the man’s arms. The man didn’t notice Ji Qingluan, probably because he didn’t expect anyone else could come to this place, so he was exceptionally bold.
He set the unconscious Wen Shaoyuan on the ground with a lecherous smile, about to strip Wen Shaoyuan’s clothes. Clutching a can of pepper spray and a brick picked up from the ground, Ji Qingluan edged closer, her palms sweaty with tension. She thought she had been very quiet with her breathing and footsteps, but to her surprise, she was detected from a mere two or three meters away.
However, the man assumed it was Yu Xin coming back and didn’t turn around in time:
"Why are you back? Don’t tell me you want to join in the fun?"
Ji Qingluan was disgusted once again, but she knew she had little time to react. She realized that by the time the man didn’t get an answer and turned around, it would be too late. So, she couldn’t worry about being stealthy, and instead, ran towards him, intending to smash his head with the brick while he was unaware.
Close now. Almost there. Any second, she would succeed.
At that moment, the man turned his head. Just one centimeter before the brick hit his head, he reacted swiftly, kicking Ji Qingluan away. Ji Qingluan fell to the ground and couldn’t get up, but the man got on his feet, pulled out the handgun he had been hiding behind his waist, and pointed it at Ji Qingluan:
"Who are you? How did you get here?"
Ji Qingluan, kicked in the chest, felt as if her internal organs had shifted. She cursed silently, but forced herself up. Facing the man and the gun in his hand, she was stunned for a moment, but still spoke:
"Let the children go, and I won’t call the cops, nor will I meddle further."
The man looked at Ji Qingluan, and after a few seconds, he slowly let out a laugh, probably realizing that Ji Qingluan came alone without any lethal weapons, and he put away the gun, chuckling confidently: "You are already meddling. Who are you to these kids? Or did you just see something unjust and decided to lend a hand?"
"All you want is money. Just say the amount, and I’ll have someone bring it to you," Ji Qingluan said, enduring the pain and keeping calm: "Their families still think the kids are at school, so if you take the money now, no one will find out about what you’ve done. Isn’t this the best outcome?"
Hearing what Ji Qingluan said, the man seemed tempted, but in the end, he just chuckled:
"I don’t trust you. I don’t believe that after you bring the money and take the kids away, you won’t call the police. I’ve already stopped believing in these words from people like you."
Ji Qingluan never thought her few words would be believed by the man, so she wasn’t surprised when she heard his response:
"You don’t trust me, but do you think their families won’t notice their disappearance? They’ll still call the police eventually. I believe you know about the family background of these two kids. Do you want to get the money but lose your life spending it?"
