Chapter 58: Chapter 58 A Good Deed A Day
As noon approached, they came over with a nurse to draw several tubes of blood from Su Mu, saying they needed to check whether the medication she took the day before contained any other harmful substances. After the nurse left, Qiao Yu personally treated the small wounds Su Mu had inflicted on herself, then couldn’t help but laugh.
Fu Shinian had been sitting quietly to the side, and glanced over when he heard the laughter:
"Enjoying yourself so much?"
"I was just thinking about how Wei Shaoqin looked when Su Mu was brought to the hospital yesterday."
Su Mu had already heard from Fu Shinian briefly that Su Shiyue wanted her to get involved with Wei Shaoqin, and later it was also Wei Shaoqin who had taken her to the hospital. Though surprised, Su Mu felt she should find time to thank him, as she wouldn’t necessarily have been so fortunate if it were someone else involved.
Hearing Qiao Yu mention it, Su Mu also became slightly curious:
"What about him?"
Qiao Yu smiled:
"You probably don’t remember what you did to Wei Shaoqin, do you?"
Su Mu indeed didn’t remember, she couldn’t even recall who she had slept with the night before, let alone what she did to Wei Shaoqin. Just as she was about to ask, she saw that Fu Shinian’s expression on the couch had turned a few shades colder, so she swallowed the question that was on her lips.
As far as Fu Shinian was concerned, whether or not she had any interaction with Wei Shaoqin, he probably didn’t want to bring up this person.
But Qiao Yu evidently didn’t feel the same way and spoke up anyway:
"You bit Wei Shaoqin, and when he brought you to the hospital, his entire shirt was almost soaked red. Later I heard from colleagues in the emergency department that the wound they treated had a deep bite mark."
Su Mu remained silent, not responding, and Qiao Yu, not noticing, was about to say more when Fu Shinian, who had been silent, spoke up:
"Are you done yet, with all your nonsense."
Qiao Yu wasn’t afraid of Fu Shinian at all, snorting lightly, "Don’t be so bitter. No matter what, Wei Shaoqin helped Su Mu, helped you. One must distinguish clearly between gratitude and resentment."
Fu Shinian couldn’t be bothered with him, and Qiao Yu also closed his mouth. It was only when Qiao Yu finished up and got up that he said:
"Alright, make sure not to get it wet these next few days, until it scabs over, then it should be fine."
"Thank you."
Qiao Yu turned to look at Fu Shinian: "Where’s Su Shiyue?"
This question also made Su Mu look up at Fu Shinian, their gazes briefly met before parting again as he looked towards Qiao Yu and indifferently said:
"She ran away."
"Looks like she’s not completely unafraid of you."
It was already late by the time Song Yi had tracked down Su Shiyue’s whereabouts last night, and Fu Shinian hadn’t insisted on bringing her back right then, because even if she went abroad, she would always have to return. He remembered this debt; when she came back, he would settle it slowly.
After lunch, Song Yi came to pick them up from the hospital. After dropping off Su Mu at Bishui Yuntian, Fu Shinian went directly to the company, where Wei Shaoqin had been waiting for him in the office for a long time.
When Fu Shinian entered the office, Wei Shaoqin was sitting bored in the chair opposite his desk, with his legs crossed, not at all like a corporate leader. Fu Shinian walked over after unbuttoning his suit jacket, giving Wei Shaoqin’s shoulder a casual pat:
"Have you been waiting long?"
Wei Shaoqin sucked in a sharp breath and reflexively jumped up as if Fu Shinian’s hand were studded with steel spikes.
Fu Shinian looked at him innocently: "Hurt yourself? Why didn’t you say something earlier?"
Wei Shaoqin seriously doubted that Fu Shinian’s action was accidental, given his completely unapologetic manner, but Fu Shinian didn’t give him a chance to call him out on it. Having taken his seat, he opened the conversation directly:
"Junior President Wei came looking for me, you must have gained a deeper understanding of the plot in Mt. Jing."
Wei Shaoqin looked at him:
"You’re right, I had the project department redo the survey, and although I’m not sure if there’s a tomb from the Ming Dynasty underneath, there definitely is a problem. This time, consider it a debt I owe you."
Fu Shinian smiled slightly.
"But I don’t understand why you would tell me. Given your previous tactics against Junyue, you should be eager to see me lose a fortune, right? Why suddenly become so benevolent?"
"You can think of it as my daily act of kindness, and you just happened to be the recipient."
Wei Shaoqin: "..."
Is this guy always this infuriating when he speaks?
It took quite a while for Wei Shaoqin to calm down enough to speak evenly: "I am clear about debts of gratitude and grudges. No matter what happened before, you indeed helped me out this time. I don’t like owing people anything, and I believe you didn’t help me without reason. So tell me, what do you want from me?"
"Does Junior President Wei think you have anything I would desire?"
Wei Shaoqin: "..."
A company? Not as big as Fu Corporation. Resources? Not as abundant as Fu Corporation’s. Money? Also not as much as Fu Corporation’s.
But did Fu Shinian really need to be so brutally honest?
Wei Shaoqin stood up from his seat: "I’ve said what I needed to say; I’m leaving."
He truly didn’t want to stay here any longer. Each additional minute spent here increased his urge and impulse to punch Fu Shinian. However, he had injuries on his body, which obviously made it an unwise choice. Thus, he opted to exit the scene.
But it seemed Fu Shinian was not ready to let him go just yet:
"Junior President Wei’s speech may be over, but I haven’t finished speaking."
Wei Shaoqin turned back to look at him, full of wariness: "What do you want to say?"
Fu Shinian smiled faintly:
"Junior President Wei’s determination to open a branch in Shen City has impressed me, so I’ve decided to offer you an exclusive deal on that plot of land in Lin Hai. Would Junior President Wei be interested?"
Wei Shaoqin truly couldn’t understand. He didn’t deny that the plot of land in Lin Hai was the most favorable location for Junyue Hotel. Fu Shinian had snatched it ruthlessly before, and Wei had thought that aside from Su Mu, there was also a factor of business competition involved. Now that he was transferring the land to him, it seemed completely different from what he had thought.
"What, not interested, Junior President Wei?"
Wei Shaoqin looked at Fu Shinian:
"Mr. Fu, you informed me of the issue with the Mt. Jing property, and now you are offering me exclusive rights to the Lin Hai property. I believe you wouldn’t do this without reason, but after racking my brain, the only reason I can think of is Su Mu. Although she is certainly beautiful and possesses an extraordinary temperament, for someone like Mr. Fu, such women are a dime a dozen. Why would she occupy such a large place in your heart? Mr. Fu, does this mean it won’t be long before I should start calling her Mrs. Fu?"
"I’ve said it before, she is the daughter of an old friend."
"That’s all there is to it."
Fu Shinian leaned back into his chair, calm and composed as he looked at him:
"Junior President Wei need not speculate too much. Fu Shinian has always been clear about separating personal matters from business. Your saving Su Mu was a personal matter, but business is still business. I never engage in a losing deal."
Wei Shaoqin caught on: "The Lin Hai property, how much do you plan to transfer it to me for?"
Fu Shinian smiled faintly: "22 billion."
Wei Shaoqin: "..."
The plot of land had probably not even warmed in Fu Shinian’s hands before he flipped it to him. Making a clean profit of 2 billion in just one month, he was indeed adept at doing business.
