Chapter 565: Before Him, She Is a Child
Chapter 565: Chapter 565: Before Him, She Is a Child
Su Mu’s assurance did not provide any relief to Fu Shinian, as he still wanted to stick to his own ideas, but Su Mu dragged him out of the bedroom:
"We can’t be at ease leaving Shiyue alone right now, can we? Her emotions are unstable, and if something really happens, it will be too late. If I can convince her to come with us, it will save us some worry."
"You heard what she told you before."
Su Mu smiled slightly:
"But those were just words spoken in anger, not to be taken seriously."
Fu Shinian was still worried, and at this moment, Su Mu fully realized that Fu Shinian truly saw her as a child who could be bullied by other kids at any moment. She felt joy in her heart, yet some things couldn’t be handled this way:
"Do you think I’m still the Su Mu from three years ago, who let others bully her? It’s not me anymore. I won’t just endure it. I’m no saint who forgives everyone that hurts me. Besides, you’ll be outside. If something bad happens, I will call you, and you will appear immediately."
Fu Shinian saw her determination and nodded lightly:
"Okay, I’ll wait for you. Don’t force it. If she really doesn’t want to leave, just let her be, and I’ll find someone to watch over her."
"Okay, I understand."
Although Fu Shinian wasn’t very confident that Su Mu could persuade Su Shiyue, it didn’t take long for Su Mu and Su Shiyue to come out of the bedroom together, and Su Shiyue’s mood seemed to have improved a bit, though not much, but at least there was some change.
Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu, and Su Mu slightly raised her eyebrows at him, as if boasting. Fu Shinian couldn’t help but smile along, with a touch of pride.
Though Shiyue came out, she still didn’t feel like talking much. Fu Shinian took them both to the dining area. The atmosphere during the meal was very somber, considering Shiyue, Su Mu, and Fu Shinian didn’t talk much, maintaining silence.
After the meal, Fu Shinian directly took Su Shiyue to the apartment. Initially, Su Mu thought Fu Shinian would have Shiyue sleep at their apartment, but unexpectedly, Fu Shinian knocked on Song Yi’s apartment. Song Yi, who was eating takeout, was startled upon seeing Fu Shinian and the others appearing, and then said:
"Mr. Fu, madam."
"Yes, tonight Shiyue will sleep here with you. Keep an eye on her, and don’t let her run away."
Song Yi widened his eyes: "Wha... what?"
Fu Shinian frowned slightly: "What? Any objections?"
"Mr. Fu, this isn’t really appropriate, is it?"
Not only did Song Yi think this, but even Su Mu felt it was inappropriate, gently tugging at Fu Shinian’s finger: "This isn’t nice, is it? It’s not like we don’t have rooms in our apartment. Let Shiyue stay in Qiqi’s room."
"No."
Su Mu: "..."
Song Yi felt embarrassed, but seeing that Su Mu was also helpless, he could only nod: "Come in then."
From beginning to end, Su Shiyue didn’t show much emotion, like a puppet that could be easily manipulated by others. Hearing Song Yi say this, she stepped forward and went inside without a word or any expression, while Fu Shinian, seeing this and holding Su Mu’s hand, returned to their own apartment, ignoring Song Yi’s almost pleading gaze.
Back in the apartment, Su Mu watched as Fu Shinian went straight to the bar to pour himself a drink and walked over to him:
"Why won’t you let Shiyue sleep here?"
"She won’t be able to sleep tonight."
"Hmm?"
Fu Shinian set down the water glass and poured another cup of warm water at just the right temperature for Su Mu. Su Mu slightly shook her head to indicate she wasn’t thirsty, so Fu Shinian put the water glass back on the table and slowly began to speak:
"She released her emotions too intensely during the day, which is why she slept for almost an entire day. Thus, she probably won’t sleep tonight. Isn’t keeping her here going to disturb our rest? Just let her go mess around at Song Yi’s place."
Su Mu’s lips twitched:
"You... Is it really okay to treat your subordinate like this?"
"I don’t see any issue with it."
Fu Shinian walked over to Su Mu, scooped her up around the waist, and strode toward the bathroom:
"You’ve had a long day, and didn’t get proper rest last night either. Now go take a bath and sleep early."
Today had been overwhelmingly busy, and Su Mu hadn’t had a moment to rest properly. Although the issues with Su Shiyue and Yu Qingzhou weren’t completely resolved, they had reached a conclusion for now. Now that Song Yi was looking after Shinian, there shouldn’t be any problems, and everything seemed relaxed. Feeling indeed tired, Su Mu yawned while nestled in Fu Shinian’s embrace.
Fu Shinian smiled faintly upon seeing this.
After helping Su Mu with her bath, Fu Shinian placed her directly on the large bed. She fell asleep quickly, and after tucking her in, he sat quietly beside the bed for a while before leaving the bedroom to go to the living room.
The TV in the living room was on but silent; it did not seem that Fu Shinian was truly watching. He was just waiting for someone, while idly passing the time.
It wasn’t long before the door was gently knocked. Fu Shinian pinched his brow lightly, stood up, and went to open the door. Seeing Su Shiyue and Song Yi standing at the door, he wasn’t surprised at all. He stepped aside to let Su Shiyue in and said to Song Yi:
"You go rest first. I’ll send her back later."
Song Yi: "...Yes, Mr. Fu."
After closing the door and turning around, Su Shiyue was still standing by the door. Fu Shinian glanced at her indifferently, stepped toward the living room, and whispered:
"Susu is sleeping. Keep your voice down."
Su Shiyue glanced towards the direction of the master bedroom and followed Fu Shinian into the living room.
Fu Shinian had anticipated that Su Shiyue would come over to talk, which is why he had stayed up without resting. Now seated on the sofa, his gaze still fixed on the silent TV screen, he spoke calmly:
"What do you want to know?"
After a long silence, Su Shiyue finally spoke softly:
"Everything about him, I want to know it all."
Fu Shinian shifted his gaze from the TV screen and looked at Su Shiyue calmly: "What’s the use of knowing? What do you plan to do? Don’t tell me you still think it’s okay to be with him, disregarding ethics and morals."
"I’m not."
"If not, then you want to acknowledge his identity?"
Su Shiyue shook her head: "No."
"If that’s the case, there’s no need for you to know about those past events."
Su Shiyue hadn’t expected Fu Shinian to respond this way and furrowed her brows, about to say something, but Fu Shinian cut her off:
"I don’t know much about him. Our prior acquaintance was merely out of necessity for a plan, seeking a business partner. Indeed, I know some of his past, but I won’t discuss his privacy without his permission. Even if he agrees, I think it would be better for him to tell you. I won’t butt into this situation."
