Chapter 560: Chapter 560: Regret it Now or Not Later

"Brother? How come you’re here."

Su Mu asked as Fu Shinian led her by the hand out of the elevator, he snorted lightly, "If I didn’t come, where were you planning to go?"

Fu Shinian glanced at the luggage next to Su Shiyue, staring at her coldly: "Abroad?"

"You’ve been investigating me?"

"Surprised? My sister has been missing for five days, and as a brother, am I not supposed to use some means to find out if she’s safe and what happened?" Fu Shinian looked at Su Shiyue: "If I hadn’t done this, would you think that I didn’t care enough about you, that nobody in the Fu family cared for you?"

Su Mu frowned slightly at his words and tugged lightly at Fu Shinian:

"Let’s talk this out nicely."

Fu Shinian looked towards Su Mu, the hostility in his eyes diminished a lot. He smiled briefly, then turned to Su Shiyue: "Are you going with me and your sister-in-law to our place in Jiangcheng City, or to your current room?"

Su Shiyue didn’t know the purpose of Fu Shinian’s visit, but by the look of it, she knew that his intentions weren’t good. She might get trapped if she went back to the apartment with him, and she wasn’t ready to return so early. So, she pointed to the room next to her: "My room is there, I’m about to check out. Let’s go inside."

With that, she picked up her luggage and walked ahead, while Fu Shinian watched Su Shiyue coldly, following closely behind with Su Mu.

Su Shiyue sat on the sofa, ready for a scolding. Fu Shinian just glanced at her before looking away and walked to the balcony with his phone, making a call. Through the glass doors, Su Shiyue couldn’t tell who he was speaking to or what about, but she felt it wasn’t anything good.

Su Mu sat down opposite Su Shiyue:

"Still not feeling better?"

Su Shiyue shook her head: "I want to give it my all."

Those words made Su Mu slightly frown; she could feel Su Shiyue’s determination. Shinian had said that Shiyue came here following Yu Qingzhou; it was very likely she wanted to make another effort to win his acceptance of her feelings. Such perseverance and decisiveness — how were they going to say that her and Yu Qingzhou’s relationship was an impossibility?

Fu Shinian came back quickly, and sat down beside Su Mu. Su Shiyue glanced at her watch:

"Brother, just say what you want to say. I have a plane to catch."

"There’s no rush," Fu Shinian looked at her. "You can’t leave."

Su Shiyue had anticipated that Fu Shinian would try to stop her, but she didn’t expect him to be so straightforward. The anger from being rejected by Yu Qingzhou seemed to find a reason to be vented at this moment. She stood up from the sofa and looked at Fu Shinian with a cold laugh:

"I am an adult now, I won’t be manipulated by you like before. I know what I want, and I know what I should do. You don’t need to preach to me."

The moment Su Shiyue spoke those words, she regretted them. She knew what she had said wasn’t true; although Fu Shinian was strict with her, he had never interfered with her life. She had a lot of freedom regarding her life and her future plans. She also knew very well that Fu Shinian didn’t have to do this...

He could have easily driven her out of the Fu family; she did not carry the Fu family bloodline.

After those words from Su Shiyue, Fu Shinian had no reaction, not even a change in expression, just looked at her as if she were a stranger. Su Shiyue suddenly felt embarrassed and guilty, and she apologized:

"Sorry, brother. I shouldn’t have said that."

"I don’t care."

Su Shiyue was slightly startled and looked up at Fu Shinian. She could sense the dissatisfaction and coldness in his tone, but she really didn’t want to go back with Fu Shinian. She had thought it over; even if Yu Qingzhou was really impossible, even if he really didn’t like her, she couldn’t just retreat after one confession, right? At least she wanted to try again, so if the result was still the same, it wouldn’t feel so grievous or unfair.

Just as she was about to argue something with Fu Shinian, he raised his hand to stop her:

"I don’t want to hear a word you want to say. When he arrives, after you listen to what he has to say, if you still decide to do what you did before, I will not say another word, nor will I stop you."

"He?" Su Shiyue asked in confusion: "Who is he?"

The room’s door was gently knocked, and Su Shiyue shivered involuntarily, as if the arrival were not a person but a monster. Fu Shinian gave her a look, not uttering a word and even his gaze had no excess emotion as he stood to open the door.

Su Shiyue’s eyes followed Fu Shinian, so when she saw Yu Qingzhou, who walked in behind him, she subconsciously stammered, slightly frowning:

"You... Why are you here?"

Fu Shinian walked back to his original spot, sitting side by side with Su Mu. He signaled Yu Qingzhou to sit as well. It was clear that Yu Qingzhou didn’t want to stay long, but considering the complexity of the things he had to say, it was probably not something that could be explained in a sentence or two. So, he sat down opposite Fu Shinian.

Among the four people present, only Su Shiyue was an outsider. She felt like a blank slate in front of these three, ignorant of everything. Their expressions seemed to hide something important from her, leaving her in a state of panic, so much so that she spoke without thinking. She looked at Su Mu angrily:

"Was it you? Was it you? Did you tell my brother who I like, so he brought him here, right?"

Su Mu had anticipated this misunderstanding, so she had her explanations ready. But Fu Shinian didn’t give her a chance to speak; he said in an unfriendly tone:

"Watch what you’re saying. Susu hasn’t told me anything. If you have the guts to run away from home, then you should be prepared to have everything about you uncovered. Do you think I wouldn’t find out about something as trivial as who you’ve been frequently in contact with lately? Do I need to falsely accuse Susu of being untrustworthy?"

Su Shiyue might have understood Fu Shinian’s words, but she was utterly panicking. She didn’t know what awaited her in the coming moments, but her gut told her it wouldn’t be good. She subconsciously wanted to escape, but her curiosity and her unwillingness about her feelings held her in place.

Su Mu gently tugged at Fu Shinian’s sleeve to suggest he speak more gently to Su Shiyue. Fu Shinian turned back, smiling reassuringly at her, not saying much, just shifting his gaze to Yu Qingzhou as he said:

"I told you to tell the truth from the beginning. Now that it has come to this, I don’t know whether you regret it or not."
