Chapter 544: Those Times, I Forgive You
Chapter 544: Chapter 544: Those Times, I Forgive You
Su Mu had no chance to protest before Qiqi already started speaking:
"Great Grandmother is talking nonsense; Great Grandmother will definitely live a long life, watching Qiqi get married, and helping watch over my little brothers and sisters for Wood."
Even the Great Grandmother had never heard Qiqi talk about this before, and couldn’t help but smile:
"Qiqi, who taught you to say this?"
"Doesn’t everyone say this on TV?" Qiqi looked at Su Mu: "Wood and Dad are so in love now, it’s only a matter of time before I have younger siblings."
Su Mu stood to the side, slightly embarrassed; she had never thought that it would be her daughter, not the Great Grandmother or friends, rushing her and Fu Shinian about marriage. They had just mentioned it in the bathroom a short while ago, and now the conversation had already moved on to having brothers and sisters; Su Mu had a slight headache.
But the Great Grandmother was still very happy, pulling Qiqi in front of her and stroking her face:
"Qiqi is right; Great Grandmother will live well, definitely see you married, and will definitely help Wood take good care of your little brothers and sisters."
Su Mu stood by listening, and couldn’t find any reaction other than to laugh. When Fu Shinian came downstairs, he saw such a scene and couldn’t help but smile, asking:
"What are you all talking about?"
Qiqi quickly responded:
"I’m discussing with Great Grandmother when you and Wood will have my little brothers and sisters?"
Fu Shinian didn’t expect this question at all, he paused for a moment, then smiled looking at Qiqi: "Other children always don’t want parents to have more kids, afraid that the love will not be the same as before. But why are you different, Qiqi? You want younger siblings?"
"Of course I do, I’m different from other kids. My parents are the best parents in the whole world, even if I have siblings they will still love me the same, and I will love my little brothers and sisters too, and as an older sister, I’ll protect them. So, Wood, when have you decided to have them?"
Su Mu’s smile had turned somewhat stiff. Faced with her daughter’s sharp question, her first impulse was to escape, so she pretended not to hear and took a coat from Fu Shinian’s hands: "Weren’t we going out? Let’s hurry up."
After saying this, as if worried Qiqi might continue with unbearable comments, she turned around and walked towards the door first. Fu Shinian watched Su Mu almost fleeing and revealed an almost helpless smile to Qiqi, who winked playfully:
"Dad, don’t say you don’t want to."
Fu Shinian slightly smiled:
"Dad is happy with just having you."
After saying that, he kissed Qiqi and stepped forward to catch up with Su Mu who had walked ahead.
When Fu Shinian went out, Su Mu was standing in front of the fountain in front of the main building, quiet, like someone who walked out of a painting. He smiled and stepped over to stand in front of Su Mu, watching the koi in the pond together. Beside them, there was fish food placed by Aunt Tian; Fu Shinian picked up some and scattered it, watching as the koi scrambled to eat it, and smiled slightly before looking at Su Mu:
"Feeling embarrassed?"
Su Mu shook her head:
"No, I don’t take children’s words to heart."
"Hmm, that’s good. Qiqi has become bolder recently, daring to say anything."
Su Mu smiled faintly:
"It’s actually quite good this way. Although she was sensible before, I always felt she lacked the innocence and recklessness that children should have. Now, seeing her like this makes me very happy."
Fu Shinian watched her quietly for a few seconds and then spoke:
"It’s my fault. If I had been with you and our daughter from the beginning, you wouldn’t have had to struggle so much over these years, and Qiqi could have been happier."
Su Mu didn’t expect Fu Shinian to suddenly bring up the past again. In fact, the past was Su Mu’s sore spot, and every time it was mentioned she couldn’t stop feeling angry and wronged. Fu Shinian hasn’t mentioned it for a long time, and inexplicably, it came up today. Surprisingly, Su Mu found that she wasn’t angry anymore.
Indeed, it was an unpleasant memory, but in the current stable and happy life, those difficulties seemed to act as mere additives. It’s not that they weren’t important, but they could make a person unconsciously disregard them. No one wants to remember a grudge for a lifetime, especially since Shinian’s initial decision was for her sake.
Actually, a person’s mindset is really important. At first, when Su Mu knew that Shinian did it for her, although surprised, she couldn’t feel pity for him, because what she has gone through over the years wasn’t something that could be simply explained with a sentence or two. But now, recalling Shinian’s restraint from three years ago, she always felt like there was a crack in her heart, seeping strands of pain.
She looked at Fu Shinian and smiled slightly:
"Things are pretty good now. No one can be sure that without those past events we would definitely be happy. The brief separation of three years, and now returning to the starting point, while Qiqi is still young, while everything is still redeemable, it has taught us to cherish the people before us. I think it might not be a bad thing after all."
Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu with a burning gaze and said nothing.
Su Mu couldn’t quite understand his feelings at that moment. Feeling somewhat uncomfortable under his gaze, she attempted to shift her eyes back to the koi fish leisurely swimming after feeding. But just as she turned, Fu Shinian pulled her into his embrace, and before Su Mu could react, he leaned down to kiss her.
It wasn’t intense, nor was it passionate, merely a touch of lips to lips, but it inexplicably made Su Mu feel the moment was solemn.
He didn’t linger for too long and soon pulled away, yet he didn’t let go of Su Mu, still gently holding her with a smile on his face, openly sharing his feelings at the moment:
"I never thought you would forgive me, but hearing you say this, I still feel surprised."
Su Mu smiled:
"You never thought I would forgive you? And yet you kept me by your side?"
"Yes, I’ve thought it through. Whether you forgive me or not, I won’t let you go. I can’t ask for more than your current state, thankful to God. But if you truly hate me, despise me to the extreme, I think I would still keep you by my side using Qiqi, even if it means mutual torment."
Su Mu frowned slightly upon hearing this, seemingly not agreeing with his point of view:
"Why keep me by your side?"
"To be good to you, to take care of you, to be with you, even if the love you want isn’t with me, I can still provide the stability you desire. Moreover, thinking of you belonging to another man is something I can’t bear."
Su Mu looked at Fu Shinian, sighed, and said:
"You really are..."
"Yes, I admit, I’m unscrupulous, shameless, domineering, unreasonable, but as long as I can keep you, I don’t mind being more excessive."
