Chapter 543: Chapter 543 Qiqi’s Privilege, He Wants It Too

First I went to greet Great Grandmother in her room and chatted for a while, then Fu Shinian called me upstairs. Qiqi followed closely and wanted to stick around and talk to Su Mu, but Shinian swiftly picked her up:

"Su Mu just got off the plane. Let her take a bath first, and I can play with you, okay?"

"No, I want to bathe with Su Mu."

Fu Shinian: "..."

Actually, I would like that too.

Su Mu smiled slightly: "Let Qiqi join me, this way we can chat."

Hearing this, Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu with a pitiable expression, his eyes conveying that actually, he was the one who wanted to bathe the most at that moment. Su Mu could see his thoughts in his eyes, but she did not take it seriously and ignored him instead. Fu Shinian felt deeply hurt; yet, facing the two women who meant the most to him, it seemed he had no choice but to compromise.

This time, Qiqi truly missed Su Mu. During the whole bathing process, she talked non-stop about everything that had happened to her recently. Her logical skills were strong, so it was easy for Su Mu to follow along, knowing that Qiqi was happy at school. She had been praised by her teachers multiple times and even received two little red flowers. Su Mu also learned that Wen Shaoyuan had stayed at their home for 4 days during the National Day holiday.

Qiqi spoke with excitement, and Su Mu listened with relish, as if she had not really been apart these past few days and had been accompanying Qiqi in another way. Later, it seemed Qiqi remembered something, stopped talking, and just looked at Su Mu with expectant eyes that tickled the heart. Su Mu smiled softly:

"What do you want to tell me?"

"Su Mu, are you going to marry Dad?"

Su Mu was taken aback: "Why do you ask that question?"

"Auntie said so. She mentioned that you and Dad are getting along so well now, marriage is just a matter of time. But I hope you two can do it sooner. Great Grandmother also mentioned preparing for your wedding, and I want to wear a flower girl’s dress."

Su Mu had never considered this question, and even now, if she were to consider remarriage, she wouldn’t choose an elaborate wedding, just a simple registration would do. However, it was only upon hearing Qiqi speak that she suddenly realized, perhaps many things were no longer solely up to her to decide.

But this question was perhaps too far-fetched for both Su Mu and Fu Shinian. At least, she hadn’t considered remarriage, and Fu Shinian had not mentioned it again. Although they had not communicated on this topic, Su Mu believed they had an unspoken understanding—to be content with the status quo.

Exiting the bathroom, Fu Shinian was still in the bedroom. Hearing the noise, he hurried over and took Qiqi from Su Mu’s arms, probably dissatisfied with having Su Mu take care of her as soon as she got back, gently pinched her nose, and told Su Mu:

"You dry your hair first, I’ll take Qiqi to her room to dress her."

Su Mu nodded: "Okay."

By the time everything was put away, night had fallen. Su Mu walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window and gazed at the garden view, suddenly feeling a sense of unreality. Her last night with Fu Shinian three years ago was spent right here. She awoke in the morning and, just like now, stood here looking at the entire yard’s scenery.

What’s different is that it was springtime back then, and all things had not yet revived. Although the garden wasn’t in a state of withering or bleakness, it ultimately didn’t look as good as it does now. Although it’s dark outside now, the garden is lit with lights so it doesn’t feel gloomy; she can even see An Le frolicking happily on the garden lawn.

Fu Shinian, without her knowing when, stood behind her and gently wrapped Su Mu in his arms. Su Mu leaned into his embrace and trembled slightly the next second as he kissed her earlobe, thankfully he was considerate and knew that Great Grandmother was downstairs waiting for them to eat together, hence did not go any further.

"So transfixed, what are you thinking about?"

Su Mu smiled: "Nothing much, I’ve just never seen what Gui Ning Residence looks like at night, so I was curious to have a look."

"After dinner, I’ll take you for a walk around the garden, to help digest the food."

Su Mu didn’t voice her agreement or disagreement, just silently didn’t respond. Fu Shinian seemed to enjoy this peaceful time as well, but more than enjoying the moment, he cared more about whether Su Mu was hungry: "Everything downstairs is ready, do you want to go eat something or wait a bit longer?"

"Let’s go down now, I’m afraid Grandmother might get hungry."

"Great Grandmother won’t feel anything as long as she can see you, even if she goes without food for the whole night."

Su Mu smiled and walked with Fu Shinian towards the door. Suddenly remembering something on the way downstairs, she casually asked: "Where’s Shiyue? How come I haven’t seen her?"

"She hasn’t moved over."

Su Mu looked at Fu Shinian: "Why?"

"She said she’s not so young anymore, and she can’t live with me all the time. She said it’s because she’s afraid you would be jealous, but those are just excuses. The only reason is probably that she thinks I’m too controlling and wants freedom. But it’s alright, she’s already 24 years old now. When I was her age, I had already been living alone for a long time, so let her be. Moreover, the environment at Bishui Yuntian is good so there should be no problems."

For some reason, Su Mu always felt that Su Shiyue not returning to Gui Ning Residence had something to do with Yu Qingzhou, perhaps the two of them were in love? Su Shiyue might feel it inconvenient to continue living with them, but Su Mu still thought that what Wei Shaoqin said was right, that Yu Qingzhou didn’t seem to have such intentions towards Su Shiyue.

But since she had promised Su Shiyue not to tell Fu Shinian, Su Mu would not speak of it. After all, she would see him at the studio, and she could ask in detail next time.

Great Grandmother hadn’t been this happy in a long time, especially seeing that Su Mu and Fu Shinian’s relationship was getting better day by day, even infinitely better than during the years of their marriage. There’s no need to mention how delighted she was, having eaten an extra bowl at dinner. Qiqi also kept on talking at the dining table, making Great Grandmother laugh heartily. Su Mu occasionally spoke a few words to Great Grandmother, while Fu Shinian didn’t make much sound, just maintained a smile as he watched the three women in front of him. His contentment was apparent to everyone.

Maybe it was because she was happy, but Su Mu also ate a bit too much, so she followed Fu Shinian’s suggestion to go for a walk in the garden. Just as she got up, Fu Shinian stopped her:

"Wait a moment, it got colder today, I’ll go upstairs and get you a coat first."

With that, he stepped upstairs, and Su Mu smiled faintly. When she turned her head, she met Great Grandmother’s kind smile: "Seeing you and Shinian getting along so well now, I would be at peace even if I closed my eyes now."
