Chapter 541: Chapter 541: Missing You Already, Even Before We Part

Fu Shinian probably never urgently needed anyone’s approval when it came to cooking. Watching Su Mu eat slowly, he couldn’t help but furrow his brow:

"Doesn’t it taste good?"

Su Mu shook her head: "It’s very good, it tastes the same as before."

Fu Shinian didn’t believe it, took some food with the chopsticks to try, and the taste was very different. He glanced at Su Mu, then put down his chopsticks: "Stop eating, we’ll call room service later."

As he was about to take Su Mu’s chopsticks away, she stopped him. She looked at him with slow-burning defiance and persistence:

"I want to eat this, I won’t eat anything else."

"When you return, I’ll cook for you every day. You don’t have to force yourself to eat this now. If I knew the taste would change, I wouldn’t have brought it for you."

"But I really think it’s very delicious, even better than the ones you made before."

Faced with Su Mu’s sincere eyes, Fu Shinian was almost convinced by her blatant flattery. However, after a moment he realized and smiled faintly: "Su Mu, tell me, it’s not because I delivered food over such a long distance that you’re touched, right?"

"Can’t I be moved?"

Fu Shinian didn’t expect Su Mu to admit it so straightforwardly, and was caught off guard for a moment. After a few seconds of silence, he smiled lightly: "I did all this not to move you, but just to let you eat something you like. I didn’t expect it to turn out this way."

Su Mu didn’t say anything more, and continued to eat her food methodically. Fu Shinian saw her determination and didn’t try to stop her further, sitting quietly beside her until she finished every last bit. Looking at the empty food container, he wasn’t sure if it was to give him face or if Su Mu was very hungry, but either way, his heart felt completely filled by Su Mu.

Fu Shinian stood up to take the food container to the kitchen to clean up, while Su Mu sat still for a while. She then walked over, not entering the kitchen, but stood at the doorway looking at Fu Shinian:

"You haven’t told me, why did you come here?"

While washing the container, Fu Shinian glanced back at Su Mu: "What time did you finish work last night?"

"Around 3 a.m." Su Mu felt a bit guilty: "Did you come because of that?"

"Yes."

After cleaning the food container, Fu Shinian pulled a paper towel to dry his hands but didn’t rush to leave the kitchen. Instead, he stood there with a playful look at Su Mu: "You are in a special condition right now, and with such high work intensity, I’m always worried. I fear you might not tell me if you encounter any problems, so I thought of coming over to check on you."

"There’s no need to." Su Mu said: "It was late last night, but there won’t be night scenes coming up—and even if there are, we won’t be finishing so late again."

"Is that the truth?"

Su Mu knew what he meant, he was possibly reproaching her for what she’d said on the phone last night – ’soon’. She smiled faintly and nodded: "I’m not deceiving you this time. Work won’t be that intense anymore. Even if I can handle it, the crew around me won’t stand for it."

Fu Shinian nodded, apparently satisfied with her answer.

"Now that you’re here, what about Qiqi?"

"Shaoyuan is staying at Bishui Yuntian, with him there, who would Qiqi have eyes for if not him?"

This response surprised Su Mu a bit, as she had just remembered on her way here that she hadn’t clarified to Fu Shinian that Qiqi meets Wen Shaoyuan every week. She had planned to talk after getting off the plane, but then she went straight to work. It wasn’t until their phone call that Su Mu realized she had forgotten to mention it.

But what Su Mu had not thought of, Fu Shinian had done, and even had Wen Shaoyuan stay overnight at Bishui Yuntian.

Fu Shinian strode over, took Su Mu’s hand, and walked with her to sit down in the living room:

"Do you think that I wouldn’t accept Wen Shaoyuan?"

"No." Su Mu shook her head: "I just didn’t expect you to let Shaoyuan stay at Bishui Yuntian."

"I have always been indifferent towards Wen Shaoyuan; it has nothing to do with Wen Han, and it never will, now or in the future. My only concern is that Qiqi likes him very much, and the thought that he might take Qiqi away from me one day makes me somewhat uncomfortable. Of course, this is a complex every father has, and I think I’m handling it quite well."

Su Mu laughed out loud, and Fu Shinian pinched her hand:

"Do you still want to sleep?"

"Did you not sleep at all last night?" At this moment, Fu Shinian in front of her, though looking completely free from fatigue and in good spirits, probably had no time to rest, considering he cooked at home, then rushed to catch the flight, and came straight to the hotel: "Do you want to get some sleep? I don’t have work today, so I can keep you company."

Upon hearing this, Fu Shinian raised an eyebrow: "Lie down together?"

Su Mu nodded: "Mhm, I’m a bit tired too."

Fu Shinian smiled, got up, and led Su Mu towards the bedroom.

In reality, Su Mu had already slept for a long time and had recovered from all her exhaustion, so when she lay down in bed, she truly felt she was there to accompany Fu Shinian. But lying quietly in his arms, listening to his steady heartbeat, she slowly drifted back to sleep, deeply—it was even more restful than the previous night.

When she woke up again, it was already late in the day, and Fu Shinian was still lying beside her, but the moment she opened her eyes, he spoke:

"Awake?"

His voice was clear, indicating that he had been awake for quite some time. Su Mu felt a bit embarrassed; it was supposed to be her accompanying him, and yet it turned out the other way around. She looked up at Fu Shinian: "When did you wake up?"

"Just now." He leaned down to kiss her forehead: "If you hadn’t woken up, I’m afraid you would have been startled again."

Su Mu was slightly puzzled and inquired with her eyes.

"I have a meeting early tomorrow, and I also need to take Qiqi to kindergarten, so I have to go back today."

Su Mu was taken aback, and after a few seconds of silence, she got up. Seeing her reaction, Fu Shinian felt a wave of heartache: "You don’t have to see me off."

"You shouldn’t have come."

Su Mu didn’t say it out loud, but that didn’t mean Fu Shinian couldn’t hear it. He smiled slightly, went over, and embraced her in his arms: "Are you worried about me?"

She didn’t admit it, but just looked at him for a few seconds before saying, "Don’t come next time. I’ll head back as soon as I finish my work here. You just need to take good care of grandma and Qiqi at home. I’ll take care of myself, and with Shiyue around, you don’t have to worry about me deceiving you again."

"I know." Fu Shinian looked at her: "My coming wasn’t just because I was worried about your health."

"Hmm?"

"Su Mu, I miss you so much." Fu Shinian’s tone was deep, his forehead against hers, he let out a sigh: "What should I do? I haven’t even left yet, and I’m already starting to miss you again."
