Chapter 539: Chapter 539: A Single "I Miss You" Makes My Heart Quiver

Fu Shinian hung up the phone after saying that, and Wen Han, looking at his phone that had ended the call, tiredly pinched the bridge of his nose. After a moment, he shifted his gaze to Wen Shaoyuan, who had learned a bit of what had been going on through Wen Han’s conversation and was now slightly dodging his gaze.

Wen Han sighed and casually tossed his phone onto the table:

"Did you talk to Qiqi?"

"Yes," Wen Shaoyuan did not hide the fact: "Aunt Su is away on a business trip today, so I couldn’t go to the studio as usual. Qiqi called me and expressed her hope that I would come to their house, but I was worried that you would be unhappy, so I didn’t agree right away and wanted to ask your opinion."

Wen Han looked at Wen Shaoyuan:

"Why wouldn’t I agree?"

Wen Shaoyuan didn’t speak and just lowered his head.

In fact, Wen Shaoyuan was much more sensitive than other kids his age. He mostly only understood the changes in the relationship between Wen Han and Su Mu and would feel somewhat embarrassed. If this wasn’t the case, he wouldn’t have snuck out to see Qiqi last time without telling anyone.

Wen Han sighed and spoke softly:

"Shaoyuan, the issues between your Aunt Su and me are adult problems. They shouldn’t and won’t affect you and Qiqi. You don’t need to carry any psychological burden. I won’t feel anything particular, and your Aunt Su won’t either. You like Qiqi so much, there’s no need to suppress yourself over things that won’t happen. That isn’t what I want to see."

Wen Shaoyuan nodded and looked up at Wen Han again:

"Even if I’m with Uncle Fu, you won’t feel uncomfortable?"

Wen Han shook his head:

"I admit that at the beginning I might not have been able to accept it calmly, but so much time has passed, and I’ve lost those initial feelings long ago. Besides, if someday you marry Qiqi, Fu Shinian and I will become relatives by marriage. If you make your relationships so sensitive now, it’s not a good thing."

"I understand, Dad."

"Mhm, as long as you understand. I’ll have the driver take you there."

When Wen Shaoyuan arrived at Bishui Yuntian, Fu Shinian was leisurely sipping tea on the sofa in the living room. Seeing Wen Shaoyuan with his backpack coming in, he slightly curved his lips upward:

"Arrived?"

"Hello, Uncle Fu."

"Mhm," Fu Shinian briefly responded, standing up to go upstairs. Seeing that Wen Shaoyuan didn’t follow, he stopped and looked back: "Qiqi is upstairs. Aren’t you coming?"

Wen Shaoyuan stepped up to follow but whispered as he got close to Fu Shinian:

"Uncle Fu, do you not want to see me?"

"Why do you say that?"

"From the moment I walked in, you haven’t smiled." Seeing that Fu Shinian paused, Wen Shaoyuan also stopped, looking up to meet his gaze: "I don’t understand, if you don’t want to see me, why did you call my dad to have me come over?"

Fu Shinian looked down at Wen Shaoyuan, who was now standing at the height of his chest, slightly tugged the corner of his mouth, and said:

"Let me ask you, what is Qiqi’s relationship to me?"

"She is your daughter."

"Yes, since she is my daughter, then you should understand that not just you, I’m not going to show a pleasant face to any boy who tries to take Qiqi away from me." Fu Shinian gave a slight smile: "However, since Qiqi likes you so much, I can be a little nicer to you, but don’t expect too much. A smile is the most you’ll get."

Wen Shaoyuan was still a child and couldn’t fully understand these emotions, but he had some idea, so he smiled:

"I understand, thank you, Uncle Fu."

Fu Shinian grunted and did not pay him any more attention, continuing upstairs. When standing in front of Qiqi’s room with Wen Shaoyuan, just as Wen Shaoyuan was about to knock, Fu Shinian raised his hand to stop him, lowering his head to look at Wen Shaoyuan, barely alarming:

"Even though you’re still young, I still need to say this: don’t do anything inappropriate with Qiqi, or else I will make sure you regret it."

Wen Shaoyuan frowned slightly:

"What are the inappropriate things?"

"The things that children aren’t supposed to do."

Wen Shaoyuan paused for a moment and then realized, his face slightly reddening, he lowered his head and quietly promised: "Uncle Fu, don’t worry, I won’t."

"Hmph, I don’t think you’d dare."

With that, he knocked on Qiqi’s door directly. The door opened promptly, and there was the surprised little face of Qiqi in front of Fu Shinian. She looked at Wen Shaoyuan first but didn’t ignore Fu Shinian because of Wen Shaoyuan’s presence, raising her hand to ask Fu Shinian to crouch down, planting a kiss on his cheek:

"Dad, you truly are my hero."

Fu Shinian was quite happy with this praise and attention, so he smiled and decided to be a dad whom Qiqi liked even more: "Alright, I’ve brought your Brother Shaoyuan here for you, now go and have as much fun as you like."

Wen Shaoyuan: "..."

On the first day Su Mu left, Fu Shinian accompanied Qiqi the entire day. At night, lying alone in their shared big bed, his longing for her surged like the tide. He had never missed someone so intensely, not even when he had been away on business recently.

Perhaps he had been too busy with work at the time to be preoccupied, or perhaps his feelings for Su Mu had grown stronger with each passing day. So much so that just 12 hours after being unable to see her, his longing for her had grown like bamboo after the rain, spreading to every inch inside him.

So, he called Su Mu, but unfortunately, her work hadn’t finished yet, and Lin Ning did not dare to casually answer Fu Shinian’s call. He could only bring the phone up to Su Mu, who just happened to want to take a break and casually took the phone, seeing the name on the screen, she slightly bent her mouth’s corners and handed off her camera to Lin Ning.

Lin Ning chuckled teasingly, Su Mu acted as if she had not seen it, and walked outside, her heart was joyfully fluttering, but the words that came out of her mouth were somewhat cold:

"Is there something you need?"

"There is." Fu Shinian admitted straightforwardly: "I miss you."

Su Mu’s heart felt as if it was suddenly injected with an anesthetic, tingling and trembling. But she was grateful that the two were on the phone, separated by a long distance and not face to face, or else she would certainly be teased. On this unseen end, she could rightfully act aloof:

"I’m still working, if there’s nothing else, I’m going to hang up."

"Why are you still working?" Fu Shinian furrowed his brows slightly, all his urge to ’speak his heart’ shifted to concern: "It’s already 9 o’clock, when will you finish?"

Su Mu thought to say she didn’t know but out of fear of worrying him, she altered her response:

"Soon."
