Chapter 530: Chapter 530: Suddenly Appearing, Full of Fright

Jiang Bei fell asleep before Su Mu finally got up and left, tiptoeing as she closed the door and walked out of the apartment.

Standing downstairs, Su Mu glanced at her watch; it was nearly ten o’clock, and it was time for her to go home.

Jiang Bei’s apartment was not far from where Su Mu was currently living. Given the time, the roads were clear. In less than 20 minutes, Su Mu parked her car downstairs of her own apartment building. Before getting out of the car, she inexplicably checked her phone, which showed no missed calls or unread messages; it was very quiet.

Attributing this random action to being neurotic, Su Mu didn’t dwell on it any further. She put her phone back into her bag, opened the car door, and went upstairs.

As the elevator ascended, she caught sight of her reflection on the lift’s walls, looking somewhat disappointed. But of what was she disappointed? Su Mu avoided pondering this question, afraid that she didn’t want to confront or see the answer, so she chose to escape the thought.

The elevator stopped on the 8th floor, and as the doors slowly opened, Su Mu’s reflection vanished. She sighed in relief, managing to avoid confronting her own feelings. She took out her keys while walking towards her apartment door.

Unlocking the door and entering, she barely raised her hand to turn on the light when suddenly, someone grabbed her fiercely. In that moment, Su Mu lost her heartbeat and breath, her initial instinct was to scream, but the person quickly covered her mouth.

The door, still slightly ajar from not being fully closed by Su Mu, let a sliver of light from the hallway peek through. But the person stood in the shadows, making it impossible for Su Mu to see his face in her panicked state. In her confusion, he forced Su Mu to step back, pinning her behind the door as the last bit of light disappeared, plunging her heart into the abyss.

The only thing Su Mu felt grateful for at that moment was that Qiqi had gone to Bishui Yuntian tonight, sparing her from this ordeal.

Su Mu was trapped between the man’s chest and the door with no space to move. The man made no further movements, and Su Mu felt like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered. Each second was unbearable, and she couldn’t stand the atmosphere any longer, preparing to do something. However, just as she was about to lift her hand, the man suddenly removed his hand from her mouth, giving her the freedom to breathe deeply. But before she could catch her breath properly, he kissed her fiercely.

It was desperate, passionate, intense, and familiar.

After her initial struggle, Su Mu gradually relaxed. Despite the darkness preventing her from seeing the person in front of her, she still gazed ahead with eyes wide open, hardly participating in the kiss, allowing him easy access. Later, as Su Mu’s breath weakened and became erratic, he reluctantly let her go, holding her tightly in his arms. His breath tickled her ear as she heard his voice:

"Miss me?"

Su Mu’s heart dropped.

Perhaps it was the sudden relaxation after extreme tension, or perhaps the kiss had drained most of Su Mu’s energy, but when Fu Shinian spoke, her legs went soft, nearly collapsing to the floor. Fortunately, Fu Shinian was quick to support her waist and drew her towards himself, turning on the light. He looked down at her, whose eyes were red, suddenly feeling a wave of self-reproach:

"Did I scare you?"

Su Mu glared at him, somehow regaining some strength, and fiercely pushed him away as she headed towards the living room. Fu Shinian knew his actions had upset her, so he followed to apologize:

"I’ve been waiting here for 2 hours. You only just got back now. I was dissatisfied, just wanted to scare you a little, but I didn’t realize you’d be so frightened, and I thought you would recognize me."

Su Mu, who had initially stood in the living room to place her bag on the sofa, felt her anger surge even more upon hearing Fu Shinian’s explanation. This was directly reflected in how she violently threw her handbag at Fu Shinian.

Fu Shinian caught it quickly, but still felt some pain as the bag hit his arm. He set the bag down and approached Su Mu, heedless of her objections, and enveloped her in his embrace:

"Really scared?"

Su Mu glared at him bitterly: "Wouldn’t you be? I thought it was a thief, a burglar. I was even grateful I didn’t bring Qiqi back home with me, letting her go with Shiyue instead. I was even prepared to die, even regretting..."

She stopped midway, looking at Fu Shinian as if she wanted to bite him, probably because the resentment in her heart had no other outlet. The next second, she really did bite him, catching Fu Shinian’s hand and biting into the flesh near his thumb. Fu Shinian wasn’t prepared for the sudden pain and instinctively wanted to pull back, but recalling her words earlier, he endured it.

It was his fault; he shouldn’t have scared her.

Su Mu didn’t hold back. When she finally let go, there were teeth marks on Fu Shinian’s skin, marked with blood. Seeing the marks, she suddenly felt a bit softer, her anger mostly dissipating. She looked up at him, slightly embarrassed, and opened her mouth as if to say something but was met with Fu Shinian’s smiling eyes:

"Not angry anymore?"

Su Mu lightly responded: "Does it hurt?"

"It doesn’t hurt."

Even though a man would feel pain from such marks, Fu Shinian couldn’t let guilt replace the anger and sadness Su Mu felt, so he denied it. However, not speaking the truth didn’t mean Su Mu didn’t know, just looking at it seemed painful, let alone for the person involved.

But recalling how he had scared her, Su Mu couldn’t bring herself to apologize.

Fu Shinian smiled, pulling her to sit down on the sofa. Although Qiqi had said Su Mu’s arm had completely healed, Fu Shinian had been uneasy until he saw it himself. Now sitting beside him, he carefully inspected her previously injured arm.

The small wounds were nearly invisible, but a larger scar remained. Fu Shinian’s brow furrowed slightly as he asked:

"Did you visit the hospital recently? Did Qiao Yu mention how to deal with this scar?"

"He did," Su Mu’s voice was muffled: "He gave me ointment, which I apply daily. I don’t scar easily, so you don’t need to worry."

Relieved, Fu Shinian gently put her arm down, then took her hand instead, gently caressing it:

"That’s good."
