Chapter 512: Chapter 512: Seeking Redress When Others Hurt You

As soon as Fu Shinian finished speaking, Qiqi’s little face fell. She looked at Fu Shinian with discontent:

"You don’t keep your word, big liar."

Fu Shinian raised his eyebrows slightly: "How did I deceive you?"

"You said it yourself, as long as I help you chase Su Mu back, you would let me sleep between you two forever, to fully enjoy the feeling of having both mom and dad around. How long has it been since? No, just one day, and you’ve changed your mind. Knowing that Su Mu is back, you want to drive me away." Qiqi huffed, got off the bed, and went around to the other side where Su Mu was not injured, tightly grabbing Su Mu’s arm:

"I don’t want to leave, I want to stay with Su Mu."

The corners of Su Mu’s mouth were touched with a smile, and Fu Shinian also smiled, but he still rubbed his forehead with some headache and then patiently explained:

"Qiqi, dad didn’t lie to you, and I really hope you can continue to sleep between me and Su Mu. But now that Su Mu is injured, not to mention you sleeping in the middle, even if you don’t, I have to leave a large gap between us at night to ensure she won’t bump into her wound. You’re not always well-behaved in your sleep, I don’t need to tell you, right? In case you bump into Su Mu’s wound..."

Fu Shinian didn’t finish his sentence because he knew that Qiqi had taken it in. Her brows were no longer tightly furrowed, and even her hostility towards Fu Shinian had lessened by quite a bit. She pitifully glanced at Su Mu:

"Su Mu, it seems I really can’t sleep with you."

Su Mu actually felt it was okay; she could just swap sides with Fu Shinian, and she would be fine sleeping on the edge of her injured side. But before she could speak up, Fu Shinian seemed to know what she was going to say, intercepted her words, came over, and picked Qiqi up:

"Qiqi is really good, when Su Mu’s hand gets better, I will bring you back."

Qiqi nodded her head:

"Sorry, dad. I shouldn’t have lost my temper with you just now. You’re doing it for Su Mu’s good."

Fu Shinian smiled faintly: "Dad isn’t mad."

"You’re not mad because you’re magnanimous, but if I don’t apologize, then I am being rude." Qiqi looked at Fu Shinian and smiled slightly: "Dad, do you accept my apology?"

Being stared at with such pure eyes, Fu Shinian’s heart softened completely, and he nodded:

"Don’t say you haven’t done anything wrong, even if you really did, dad won’t blame you. I will back you up, no matter what."

Su Mu slightly furrowed her brows:

"Don’t spoil her."

"My daughter Fu Shinian, what’s the harm in spoiling her? Who can bully her then?"

Su Mu said nothing more; the affection he had for his daughter was perhaps beyond her imagination.

Seeing that there was nothing more with Su Mu, Fu Shinian took Qiqi first to bathe and coax her to sleep. When he returned, it was already past nine o’clock. Su Mu hadn’t slept yet, leaning on the headboard, seemingly deep in thought. Fu Shinian approached:

"What are you thinking about?"

Su Mu glanced at him and shook her head slightly: "Nothing much. I’m just a bit worried about Jiang Bei. I texted her just now, but she didn’t reply."

Fu Shinian was silent for a few seconds before raising his hand to rub her hair:

"I’m going to take a shower."

Su Mu nodded her head and didn’t say anything more, but looking at the bathroom door closing, she suddenly realized that tonight Qiqi wouldn’t sleep between herself and Fu Shinian; on the bed she was once so familiar with, tonight would be just her and Fu Shinian.

Actually, they had already been intimate twice; sharing the bed wouldn’t be an obstacle. But this place was Bishui Yuntian, where she once lived for two years, and now it really felt as if they had never separated.

Their current relationship was also supposedly just an act for Qiqi to see, but now, no matter how you looked at it, it seemed like they weren’t acting.

It seemed that they should just live this way. Those resistances in Su Mu’s heart had disappeared without a trace unknowingly.

She seemed to have allowed herself, in a very short period of time, to accept the rekindled relationship between herself and Fu Shinian.

When Fu Shinian came out of the bathroom, Su Mu was still in a daze, wiping his hair as he lay down next to her, carefully checking her arm before realizing she was still out of it. He waved his hand in front of her:

"Still thinking about Jiang Bei?"

Su Mu came back to her senses, her gaze on Fu Shinian somewhat unfamiliar, but after a moment, it calmed down as if their interaction was supposed to be this way. Fu Shinian smiled faintly, his gaze diverted as he continued his previous action, and spoke:

"Do you now also have to admit that there really isn’t any obstacle for you to accept our relationship again, and it seems you’ve adapted even better than imagined?"

Su Mu wanted to retort, but couldn’t find a starting point because what he said was true, she couldn’t deny it.

"Being with Qiqi, seeing her enjoy the time spent with her family so happily, it’s easy to forget that you’re acting. I agreed to your condition because I thought it didn’t matter really. Sooner or later, you would soften in such a warm family atmosphere, and during this time, you would also get to know someone called Fu Shinian anew."

Fu Shinian glanced at her:

"Do you feel even a little bit? That I’ve changed a lot compared to before."

Su Mu didn’t speak, and Fu Shinian didn’t insist on an answer, just smiled faintly: "Want to know about Ji Nanfeng and Jiang Bei?"

Su Mu finally came to her senses, looking at Fu Shinian:

"Grandma said you went out this afternoon, did you go to find Ji Nanfeng?"

"Yes, his woman hurt you. I had to seek justification."

"It’s not his fault."

Fu Shinian chuckled: "How could it not be? Qiao Na might be someone not fit for the public eye, but even so, she does everything waving Ji Nanfeng’s banner wherever she goes. Today she could hurt you, and tomorrow she might hurt Jiang Bei."

Su Mu fell silent for a few seconds:

"What did Ji Nanfeng say?"

"He didn’t say much, just that he’d let me handle today’s matter and he wouldn’t interfere."

Su Mu wrinkled her brow slightly, seemingly somewhat puzzled:

"Ji Nanfeng’s not protecting Qiao Na?"

"He can’t protect her on this matter unless he no longer wants my friendship."

"I thought that since Qiao Na was pregnant with Ji Nanfeng’s child before, and Ji Nanfeng was so indulgent, he must like her to some extent, but now he’s completely indifferent, which is totally different from what I expected." Su Mu looked at Fu Shinian: "What is he really thinking? It’s really not working out for Jiang Bei to continue like this, she’s becoming less and less talkative, which is not her personality at all."

Fu Shinian pursed his lips and didn’t immediately answer. He still thought it’s better not to meddle in others’ love affairs, especially since Ji Nanfeng is currently being particularly petulant. But seeing Su Mu’s genuine concern, Fu Shinian still spoke. He said:

"Qiao Na’s child isn’t Ji Nanfeng’s, and Ji Nanfeng and Jiang Bei will most likely divorce."
