Chapter 495: Chapter 495: Temporary Compromise, We’ll See Later
Fu Shinian originally had no intention of demanding anything from Su Mu tonight, as he was also tired. However, Su Mu was like poppy to him, irresistibly tempting once encountered. Even though his desire was ignited by her, he eventually stopped at the last moment. With hard-won progress at stake, he couldn’t ruin it all on a whim.
As long as he could make Su Mu accept their relationship, he would be free to do what he wanted, whenever he wanted. But if he forced her today, they might never get past this point.
He kissed her fiercely and then lay down beside her:
"Let’s sleep. We’ll talk about the things you mentioned once we get back to Shen City."
Su Mu lay quietly for a while, gathering up her bathrobe. Despite not liking sharing a bed like this, she seemed to have no escape. At least for now, Fu Shinian didn’t seem to intend to let her go. Thinking about the work she had the next day, Su Mu didn’t want to struggle over this with Fu Shinian any longer and closed her eyes.
When Su Mu woke up the next morning, Fu Shinian was still asleep. It was already seven o’clock, which was usually past his time for morning exercises, but it appeared he was exceptionally tired yesterday and was still sleeping.
Filming was scheduled for nine o’clock. Although there was no setup needed, Su Mu still wanted to arrive early to check things over, she didn’t have much time left. She was about to get up, but at that moment, Fu Shinian stopped her by the waist and pulled her back into his embrace, his voice husky:
"It’s still early, let’s sleep a bit longer."
"I have a shoot, you sleep, I’ll go to work."
Upon hearing this, Fu Shinian opened his eyes, grabbed his phone to check the time, and uncharacteristically backed off: "What time will it finish?"
"I don’t know, probably very late."
"I’ll come and have lunch with you then."
"No need." Su Mu got up and straightened her bathrobe: "I’ll eat with my colleagues from the studio; you sort yourself out."
After saying this, she headed to the bathroom but before closing the door, Su Mu seemed to remember something. She turned back to look at Fu Shinian and said: "If you have nothing else to do today, book another room. I’m not used to sleeping with another person."
Fu Shinian didn’t even glance at her, nor did he utter a syllable. Whether he was simply too lazy to respond to her question, or if he had fallen asleep again, was unclear.
After showering and applying makeup, Su Mu left. Fu Shinian was still sleeping, completely relaxed. She inexplicably stared at him for a few seconds, then came back to her senses and left the room.
When Su Mu arrived at the shooting location, Lin Ning had already arrived. She seemed to enjoy shooting more than Su Mu had expected. Every job was undertaken with diligent preparation to ensure nothing went wrong. Seeing Su Mu, Lin Ning came over to greet her:
"Sister Su, I’ve checked the venue, and everything is fine. Do you want to check it again?"
"No need." Su Mu sat down on a bench in the resting area, looking out at the vast sea: "Did you sleep well last night?"
"Quite well, although I would have been in a better mood without Director Huang here. It’s not my first time in Maldives, but each time I’ve come, it’s been for work; I’ve never had the chance to enjoy myself."
Su Mu smiled:
"After this shoot, you can stay here for a few days. You’ve virtually not had any vacation since you started working with me. I’ll give you some time off."
Lin Ning scratched her head awkwardly and sat down beside Su Mu:
"Sister Su, when you say that, I always feel like there’s more to your words. It’s not that you haven’t given me time off before. It’s that I didn’t feel at ease leaving your side because of the responsibilities I had."
"So, do you want to take a vacation this time?"
Lin Ning thought for a moment: "Better not. Accompanying the shoot and seeing the scenes feels like a vacation already. Once the shoot is over, work in Shen City will be about to start. If I don’t go back, you’ll be all alone with the workload, so I’d better return. If you feel bad for me, maybe just give me a bit more bonus."
"You’re short on money?"
"Not before, but recently I’ve been thinking about buying a house, trying to settle down for good. But with the housing prices in Shen City so high, there’s a big gap in my savings."
When Lin Ning first joined Su Mu, she was somewhat cold and not very sociable, perhaps due to her previous job. Now, three years later, she had grown to be more like a young girl, very charming. Su Mu smiled, and they chatted more about other matters. Soon, the whole team arrived, including Director Huang from the magazine, Su Mu, and Lin Ning watched from afar. Lin Ning couldn’t help but remind:
"Sister Su, Director Huang’s gaze is too lecherous, you really should be careful."
"Why should I be worried? Aren’t you here? If Fu Shinian doesn’t give you a job, would you not protect me?"
"How could that be? But I’m worried about messing up any cooperation if I intervene too harshly."
Su Mu stood up, smiling lightly:
"No problem, if we end up without an opportunity to cooperate with such people, it would be a stroke of luck for us."
Actually, as a renowned tourist location, Maldives had been photographed excessively, and there wasn’t much novelty left to capture. However, this time was different. With the up-and-coming star Qi Qi and her wealthy fiancé planning to hold their wedding next month, the magazine where Su Mu worked had secured exclusive rights to Qi Qi’s wedding photos, and Qi Qi had engaged Su Mu to take her bridal photos.
Su Mu had no reason to refuse.
Next month, Qi Qi would rent an entire island in Maldives for the wedding, and this visit was also to scout the location in advance for the photoshoot.
Seeing Su Mu, Qi Qi approached her with polite courtesies, making her feel comfortable, completely different from her aloof public persona. Although they had discussed the details over the phone, Qi Qi still reiterated:
"As I told you before, my only request for the wedding photos is naturalness. I don’t really like those posed photos in gowns and wedding dresses. Do you remember, Su Mu?"
Su Mu nodded:
"I remember, we’ll do a test shoot first to let you confirm the style. If you like it, we’ll continue; if not, we can adjust anytime."
"Great," Qi Qi smiled. "But my mother-in-law insists that there has to be a wedding dress, so I’ve brought one along. I hadn’t mentioned this before; I hope it won’t cause any trouble."
Su Mu smiled slightly:
"Not at all. Just don’t think of today’s session as a photoshoot. Think of it as if you are here to play or on a honeymoon. Pretend I, the photographer, don’t exist. Just do whatever you want to do, without any worries."
Qi Qi nodded:
"That would be best. I’m used to being in front of the camera, but my fiancé is quite uneasy."
