In Wen Han’s gaze, Fu Shinian carried Su Mu away. For a moment, Wen Han really wanted to rush up and stop them. He didn’t trust Fu Shinian’s character, and he didn’t know what might happen when Su Mu, drunk as she was, left with such a wolf. But in the end, he remained motionless.

Once, he might have had the right to do so, but he had lost it through his own actions.

In truth, it wasn’t about him. Perhaps from the moment the two of them got together, he had foreseen the ending. It’s just that back then, he refused to admit defeat. But reality is cruel, and emotions even more so. Apart from letting go, he had no other choice.

The moment Fu Shinian put Su Mu in the car, she opened her eyes and looked at the first light of dawn tinting the sky, cracking a slight smile:

Sitting in the driver’s seat, Fu Shinian glanced at his watch in the night and responded:

Fu Shinian thought Su Mu would say something more, but she didn’t utter a word. She found a more comfortable position and fell soundly asleep again, her breathing becoming steady. Whether it was that she understood she no longer had the strength to resist what was about to happen, or that she tacitly accepted all that could possibly occur, Fu Shinian could not tell. But inexplicably, he felt at ease.

By the time they got back to Gui Ning Residence, it was five-thirty. Su Mu was truly asleep, so much so that Fu Shinian bathed her, changed her clothes, and she didn’t wake up through it all. Finally, placing her on the large bed, he stood by the bed and silently watched her. The expanse of skin exposed at the collarbone made his throat dry, so he turned around and poured himself a glass of ice water. He felt much better after gulping down more than half of it, but Su Mu made a noise at that moment.

She twisted and turned uneasily on the bed, mumbling something softly. Fu Shinian approached and finally heard her words:

"Water, thirsty..."

Fu Shinian went back to where he stood before and poured a new glass of warm water for Su Mu. He helped her sit up, but she was so weak that she couldn’t sit properly, so Fu Shinian let her lean against his chest and carefully helped her drink. After drinking half a glass, she stopped. Fu Shinian set the glass on the bedside table and laid Su Mu back down.

He decided to take a shower, but before he could step away, Su Mu started moving again. This time it wasn’t thirst, she felt hot. Not only did she kick away the thin blanket covering her, but she also started to take off her negligibly useful nightgown. Fu Shinian stood still, simply watching her, until she was exposed in a state of undress before him.

The fire in his chest then became impossible to suppress.

To be frank, Fu Shinian hadn’t planned to take advantage of her tonight. After all, her relationship with Wen Han had ended, and she had become single. Her previous interactions with Qiqi had also led her to seriously consider their relationship. If she could take the initiative to return to him, Fu Shinian didn’t wish to resort to any tactics. But he never expected that Su Mu would unwittingly seduce him.

Though there had been one drunken incident in Jiangcheng City before, it hadn’t gone all the way. For three whole years, without her, he had not touched another woman. The woman before him was the one he had longed for day and night. It seemed there was no difference between getting her now or later, especially since Su Mu had a premonition about what would happen tonight. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have asked him that question at the bar.

Fu Shinian decided not to deny himself any longer.

Everything happened so naturally. Perhaps it was the alcohol, but although Su Mu eventually woke up due to Fu Shinian’s actions, it took her a few seconds to realize the intimate position between them. However, she didn’t resist, didn’t even utter a word, simply letting it happen, allowing Fu Shinian to take what he wanted.

By the end, it was nearly eight o’clock. Alcohol and exhaustion plunged Su Mu into deep sleep, and Fu Shinian was tired too, having not slept all night. He had planned to sleep with Su Mu for a while, but his phone aroused him.

Although Su Mu was deeply asleep, Fu Shinian feared disturbing her. Glancing at the caller ID, he got up and went outside to answer:

"Qiqi."

"Fu Shinian, where is Su Mu? Was it you who took her?"

The voice that belonged to Jiang Bei rang in his ear, but Fu Shinian showed no surprise, responding indifferently: "Yes, is there a problem?"

"Where is Su Mu now?"

"Asleep, hasn’t woken up yet."

Jiang Bei paused for a few seconds: "What did you do to her?"

"What I should have done, and what I shouldn’t, I did them all."

Jiang Bei cursed and immediately hung up the phone. Fu Shinian let out a slight smile, then dialed Song Yi’s number. Today wasn’t a day off, and he was supposed to go to the company. But under the current circumstances, he couldn’t leave, especially since nobody knew how Su Mu would react upon waking up. He wanted to see her immediate reaction and listen to her thoughts firsthand.

But Song Yi had something to say:

"Mr. Fu, there’s been a development regarding that incident in the underground parking lot."

After Jiang Bei hung up the phone, she remained worried about Su Mu, but helplessly, Su Mu’s phone was left at home, and there was no way to contact her. Qiqi, however, didn’t seem very concerned. Knowing that Su Mu and Fu Shinian were together, she smiled happily. Jiang Bei helplessly pinched Qiqi’s nose:

Qiqi smiled as well, but it was more to please. She said:

"Mommy Xiaobei, I’m hungry."

Qiqi was hungry, and so was Jiang Bei, but she had never been good at cooking. Now that she was pregnant, she was even less able to cook, so she had no choice but to take Qiqi out to eat. A mother and daughter eating out didn’t ask for a private room, so when Rong Shen walked into the restaurant, Jiang Bei spotted him in an instant.
