Chapter 475: Chapter 475: Restoring the Past, Hard to Cope

When Su Mu and Qiqi went downstairs, everyone was already seated in the dining room. Qiqi greeted everyone one by one. The Great Grandmother summoned her over with sympathy and touched her forehead,

"You really scared me."

Qiqi kissed Great Grandmother’s cheek, "It’s Qiqi’s fault. Great Grandmother, don’t worry, I will make sure to eat well and exercise my body in the future, so I won’t get sick again."

Great Grandmother smiled upon hearing this and praised Qiqi as the most sensible child she had ever seen.

Su Mu initially wanted Qiqi to sit beside her so she could take care of her meals, but before she could speak, Fu Shinian beat her to it. He bent down to lift Qiqi onto his lap and said to Su Mu, "You eat well, I’ll take care of Qiqi."

"I should do it; you hardly slept last night."

When Su Mu said this, her intentions were pure, but unexpectedly, right after these words, the entire dining room fell into an eerie silence. She paused for a few seconds before realizing how ambiguous her statement sounded, yet she didn’t know what to say to clarify. Fu Shinian added fuel to the fire by casually raising his eyebrows at her,

"How do you know whether I slept or not?"

Su Mu did not say anything more and sat down awkwardly. Great Grandmother’s smile was meaningful, though she dared not hope for too much, as she was aware of everything Fu Shinian had done from the beginning. Now that there was progression in their relationship, she was quite happy.

Auntie Lin served Su Mu her cutlery and smiled slightly,

"Mr. Fu had been in the kitchen since early morning. I offered to help, but he insisted on cooking some delicious dishes himself, since Qiqi was sick."

Hearing this, Qiqi hugged Fu Shinian’s neck and kissed him,

"Thank you, Fu Shinian."

Fu Shinian kissed Qiqi back, "You’re welcome, little princess."

It had been a long time since Su Mu had experienced such a family gathering and she felt somewhat uneasy, making it difficult for her to sit still during the meal, and she ate very little. Fu Shinian seemed to notice and glanced at her a few times but did not say anything.

After breakfast, Su Mu wanted to take Qiqi and leave, but Qiqi appeared to not have the same intention. Every time Su Mu brought up the topic, Qiqi would change the subject or stand up to find Fu Shinian; she seemed to consider this place her real home.

A child’s thoughts are not always easy to hide. After observing this a couple of times, Su Mu did not bring it up again, especially since Qiqi was still sick and it was uncertain when she might have to go to the hospital again.

However, Su Mu did not expect that Fu Shinian had no intention of going to his office either. As Su Mu and Qiqi played games in the living room, she saw him in his casual home clothes sitting on the sofa. She couldn’t help but ask,

"Aren’t you going to the office?"

"Qiqi is sick; I’m staying home with her," Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu, "Why? Don’t you want me at home?"

Su Mu did not respond when Wen Han’s call came through. She glanced at the phone and stood up to answer it, feeling Fu Shinian’s gaze on her throughout.

Wen Han did not mention the call from Fu Shinian the previous night, only asking if she had rested well. It was as if he had reverted to his old self, the considerate and caring person before his relationship with Su Mu, which all came back now. However, strangely, Su Mu found it overwhelming, feeling tired herself and feeling tired for Wen Han.

Just before hanging up, Wen Han asked Su Mu,

"Are you coming to the hospital today?"

Su Mu glanced at Qiqi, who was playing with Fu Shinian nearby, and replied, "Qiqi is sick, so I am currently at Bishui Yuntian with her. I’ll come check on Auntie this afternoon or evening."

Wen Han was silent for a few seconds:

"Okay."

Qiqi was in good spirits, but perhaps that wasn’t the most important reason; she felt happy mainly because both Fu Shinian and Su Mu were with her. She was so joyful that she played all morning without stopping. It seemed that Great Grandmother and Su Shiyue had intentionally given the couple some alone time, as they left soon after breakfast, even taking Auntie Lin and Auntie Wang with them, leaving Su Mu and Fu Shinian barely speaking a few words all morning.

As noon approached, Qiqi finally became tired and snuggled up on Fu Shinian’s lap, unwilling to get up. Su Mu checked the time and stood up:

"I’ll go cook."

"I will." Fu Shinian wanted to put Qiqi down, but she held onto his neck, refusing to let go: "No, I don’t want you to go, I want you to stay with me."

Fu Shinian soothed her gently with a smile and then looked up at Su Mu, who smiled faintly:

"She has never been this dependent on someone, not even me."

Fu Shinian’s gaze grew intense, wanting to say something, but Su Mu had already turned and left.

After lunch, Qiqi, who had played all morning, finally couldn’t keep her eyes open and fell deeply asleep. When Fu Shinian carried her back to her room and laid her on the bed, she blinked her eyes open in a daze and said:

"Wood, Fu Shinian, don’t leave."

Fu Shinian gently patted her, soothing her: "We’re not leaving, we won’t leave."

Su Mu stood aside, silently watching this scene, feeling a rush of emotions.

After Qiqi fell asleep, Fu Shinian stood up from the bed and said to Su Mu, who was sitting on the couch: "You stay with Qiqi for a while."

"No," Su Mu stood up, "I want to go visit the hospital."

She thought Fu Shinian would say something, but he didn’t, just a simple: "Hmm, take care on the road."

Su Mu looked at Fu Shinian for a long time, not moving. It seemed that since they returned to Bishui Yuntian last night, Fu Shinian had become a completely different person, not mentioning the engagement with Wen Han, and lacking his previous intentional sarcasm and dominance. He seemed to have found his place in an instant, one that had nothing to do with Su Mu.

Fu Shinian, sensing Su Mu’s gaze, slightly smiled:

"What exactly do you want from me?"

"Hmm?"

"When I forced you, you didn’t like it. Now that I let you do whatever you want, you think I have changed."

Su Mu came back to her senses: "I didn’t."

Fu Shinian gave a light laugh:

"Go ahead."

In the hospital, Zhou Yaxian had fully recovered her spirits; if Su Mu hadn’t seen her abnormal state with her own eyes, she might have thought it was all her imagination. When she entered the room, aside from Wen Han, many people were there, not relatives or friends, but all wearing the same uniform, showing respectful attitudes toward Zhou Yaxian and Wen Han.

Wen Han was surprised to see Su Mu at this time: "What brought you here? Is Qiqi doing better?"

Su Mu nodded, about to say something, when Zhou Yaxian noticed Su Mu and said happily: "Susu, you came just in time. I’ve made appointments with several wedding planners. Come take a look, which engagement style do you like?"
