Chapter 412: Chapter 412: By Any Means Necessary to Achieve the Goal

Watching the driver walk away, Su Mu didn’t get angry. She shrugged off Fu Shinian’s restraining grasp and strode forward. If he wouldn’t drive her or let her ride with him, was she not capable of walking back on her own?

The idea seemed good, but reality was cruel. Fu Shinian quickly caught up and hoisted her over his shoulder, heading directly into the restaurant, completely disregarding the stares of the onlookers, until he finally set Su Mu down in a private booth.

Her hair was a mess, and her clothes were wrinkled, but that didn’t stop Su Mu from looking at Fu Shinian with eyes full of loathing, as if she wished she could eat him alive. Fu Shinian, under such scrutiny, remained unfazed and calmly pulled up a chair to sit in front of her:

"This meal, you’re definitely going to eat. You chose to make yourself a public spectacle, and I really can’t help that."

"You’re despicable."

Fu Shinian chuckled lightly, "Say whatever you want. As long as I achieve my goal, that’s all that matters."

After he spoke, he signaled the waiter standing by the door to come in and start ordering. Su Mu didn’t want to stay any longer in the same space with him, so she took the opportunity to attempt to leave. However, the next second, Fu Shinian’s words rang in her ear:

"If she walks out that door today, I’m immediately firing you."

The words were not directed at Su Mu, but she found herself unable to move. It was a threat. Turning back to look at Fu Shinian, he wasn’t looking at her; rather, the waiter was hesitantly glancing at her. Su Mu scoffed inwardly and addressed Fu Shinian:

"You’re becoming more sophisticated with your methods, even willing to threaten innocent people."

"As long as I reach my purpose, I don’t mind how I do it." Fu Shinian shifted his gaze from the menu to Su Mu, and smiled faintly: "The fact is, it’s quite effective, isn’t it?"

Su Mu, of course, didn’t leave in the end. She reluctantly sat across from Fu Shinian, and after the waiter finished ordering and left, they thanked Su Mu profusely. However, she couldn’t say ’it’s fine’. She felt that she owed them more since they were dragged into her own issues with Fu Shinian.

After the waiter left, Su Mu spoke up:

"You said I should invite you. If I go out now and pay, then leave, would that count as inviting?"

Fu Shinian smiled as he looked at her:

"You’re grown up now, yet still so naive?"

As he spoke, he took a cigarette from his pocket, lit it up in his mouth. Su Mu’s eyes involuntarily followed the drifting smoke, and naturally, Fu Shinian could tell what Su Mu was about to do. He raised his eyebrows and smiled:

"Don’t smoke in front of me in the future."

"Not allowed? Who do you think you are?"

"I’m not anyone special, but I used to be your husband."

Su Mu scoffed and decided not to heed Fu Shinian’s words, afraid of lowering her own IQ.

As the waiter came in with the dishes, voices could be heard in the corridor, getting closer. Because the voices were somewhat familiar, Su Mu looked towards the door and indeed, as she thought, an unexpected encounter occurred.

Wen Han had just closed a case today, and his teammates were all sleep-deprived and hadn’t eaten well for days. Wen Han decided to treat them to improve their meals, but he had not expected to see his girlfriend here. When had she returned? He had thought she was still in Jiangcheng City.

Wen Han halted, and his brothers naturally stopped with him, curiously glancing between Su Mu and Wen Han. Then Su Mu stood up and walked over. Before she could speak, Wen Han said:

"I thought you were in Jiangcheng City. When did you come back?"

Only then did Su Mu realize that she hadn’t told Wen Han about her return to Shen City from the start. The guilt welled up, making her forget what she was about to say. The next second, Fu Shinian rose from his seat and stood casually behind Su Mu with a slight smile:

"Today, we came back together."

Su Mu turned to glare at him, and he simply raised an eyebrow: "What? Did I say something wrong?"

Su Mu ignored him and glanced at Wen Han’s colleagues, noticing their curious gazes. She smiled politely, but then they began to tease:

"Han bro, this is...?"

Upon hearing this, Wen Han immediately put his arm around Su Mu’s shoulder, introducing her calmly:

"This is my girlfriend, Su Mu."

Su Mu nodded politely, "Hello."

"So, you’re the sister-in-law! It’s a pleasure to meet you. We’ve always known that Han bro has a girlfriend who he adores deeply, but he’s been secretive and never let us see her. Today we’re quite fortunate to bump into you."

Knowing that Su Mu was uncomfortable with such scenes because she was thin-skinned, Wen Han quickly shooed his colleagues away, but as he was about to speak, Fu Shinian, who had been ignored, made a shocking statement:

"Since you’ve introduced Su Mu, shouldn’t you also introduce me?"

Su Mu almost instantly knew what Fu Shinian wanted to say and tried to stop him with her eyes, but Fu Shinian, catching her gaze, merely raised an eyebrow and smiled, addressing everyone lightly:

"I am Su Mu’s ex-husband."

With that declaration, the entire corridor fell silent. Everyone looked at each other, unsure of how to respond, and Su Mu’s face darkened, puzzled by what Fu Shinian hoped to gain by embarrassing Wen Han like this. But Wen Han remained composed from start to finish, only smiling in response to his colleagues:

"Go ahead, I want to talk to my girlfriend for a moment."

In such an awkward scene, the colleagues were only too eager to leave, making polite excuses before departing. The waiter also slipped away quietly, leaving the private rooms uncomfortably silent with only three of them remaining. Wen Han faced Fu Shinian:

"Mr. Fu seems quite childish. Do you think that statement just now embarrassed me? I’m not embarrassed, it’s always Su Mu you make uncomfortable."

Fu Shinian laughed lightly:

"I merely stated a fact, didn’t I?"

"I won’t deny it, but it’s been so long, there’s really no need to bring it up." Wen Han took Su Mu’s slightly cold hand, saying calmly, "You’ve been hovering around my girlfriend a lot lately. Do you really think I don’t exist?"

"Oh? Are you suggesting a competition then?"

Wen Han huffed:

"Don’t test my limits. I won’t always be this polite to you."

With that, he took Su Mu’s hand and left the private room. Fu Shinian watched their retreating figures, his eyebrows slightly raised. He settled back in his seat, waiting calmly. If his guess was correct, it wouldn’t be long before Su Mu would return.

Su Mu thought Wen Han would take her to the private room where his colleagues were, but instead, he only led her to the corner of the corridor before stopping and releasing her hand. He didn’t turn around, leaving his back to her. Su Mu watched silently for a few seconds, then spoke up to apologize:

"I’m sorry."
