Chapter 400: Chapter 400 Full of Tricks, Deal Concluded

Qiqi had been to many places, so neither the amusement park nor the zoo could captivate her for long. After just a morning of play, she had lost interest. Fu Shinian took her out for lunch, and when he asked her where she wanted to go next, she blinked her eyes but didn’t answer.

Fu Shinian knew by just looking at her that this little one was probably cooking up some mischief in her mind.

What Fu Shinian hadn’t expected was for Qiqi to ask him a question. She said,

"Fu Shinian, do you like wood?"

Even though he didn’t know why she was asking this, he still gave her a positive answer, "Yes, I like wood."

"How much do you like it?"

"As much as I like you," Fu Shinian looked at her and smiled slightly, "You and wood are my everything."

"But wood is going to be with Uncle Wen now." Qiqi bit her lip, frowning, "People get together because they like each other, right? If they’re together now, does that mean wood doesn’t like you but likes Uncle Wen instead?"

Fu Shinian really didn’t know how to explain this question; after all, she was only a three-year-old child. In the end, he just smiled faintly and stretched out his hand to wipe the traces from the corner of her mouth:

"But wood used to like me a lot too, and she was with me. We even got married because she liked me, and that’s why we have you."

Qiqi looked at Fu Shinian, silent for a few seconds before speaking faintly:

"Then are you getting close to me now because you want to be with wood again?"

Fu Shinian: "..."

"I’m not getting close to you on purpose, it’s because I truly like you. You’re my daughter, what father wouldn’t like his own daughter? I wish I could be with you every moment."

Before having a child of his own, Fu Shinian had never considered what it would be like to have children. Although the old lady always nagged at him, Fu Shinian really wasn’t interested in having children. His relationship with Su Mu was one reason, but he also genuinely wasn’t interested in kids.

But all that lack of interest stemmed from never having been in contact with them. It wasn’t until he learned of Su Mu’s pregnancy that he was involuntarily filled with anticipation and affection; he regretted that due to many reasons, he wasn’t able to watch her grow up.

The first time he met Qiqi, Fu Shinian knew that this little girl was his personal calamity, someone for whom he would do anything.

Qiqi bit her lip and asked Fu Shinian:

"What about wood? Does she still like you now? If she does, why would she be with Uncle Wen?"

Still unsure of how to answer, Fu Shinian was eager to know Qiqi’s thoughts, so he asked,

"What about Qiqi? Do you like me or Uncle Wen more?"

Qiqi didn’t want to answer: "Is it that important?"

"Of course, it’s very important to me."

Even though Fu Shinian said that, Qiqi still didn’t want to make a choice. To her, both Uncle Wen, who had loved her for so long, and Fu Shinian, her father who treated her so well, were important. She didn’t want to choose, feeling as though picking one meant losing the other.

Seeing Qiqi so troubled, Fu Shinian did not press her. Yet, he was acutely aware that to win back Su Mu’s heart, Qiqi played a key role. If Qiqi took Su Mu’s side, then all his strategies, no matter how well executed, would be in vain. After all, Qiqi would be unhappy and might even get angry with him.

But he had his methods. With a slight smile, he asked Qiqi:

"Qiqi, do you like Wen Shaoyuan a lot?"

At the mention of Wen Shaoyuan, Qiqi’s eyes lit up, and the food in front of her seemed a lot less appealing as she nodded eagerly:

"Yeah, yeah, I really like Brother Shaoyuan. I even want to marry him in the future."

Fu Shinian laughed:

"Did you know? If wood ends up with your Uncle Wen, then you and your Brother Shaoyuan would become siblings. Since you’d be siblings, you wouldn’t be able to marry each other in the future."

Qiqi was shocked, so much so that she was speechless, just staring straight at Fu Shinian. Seeing her like this, Fu Shinian felt a twinge of guilt, but for the sake of his happiness, as well as Qiqi’s future happiness, he knew he had to be the villain.

"Don’t you believe me?"

Qiqi shook her head:

"I think I heard Grandma Zhou say it too."

Because of what Zhou Yaxian had said, Qiqi had felt down for a long time after returning from the Wen Family that day. But later, Su Mu assured her that no matter how hard it would be in the future, she would make Qiqi’s wish to marry Brother Shaoyuan come true, as long as their feelings for each other remained certain by then.

Fu Shinian, like the big bad wolf, kept coaxing Qiqi: "See, it’s not just me saying this. If you want to marry Brother Shaoyuan, wood can’t be with Uncle Wen."

At this, Qiqi hung her head, unsure of what to do.

Fu Shinian smiled faintly:

"Are you worried that wood and Uncle Wen will be unhappy if they split up?"

"Yes."

"Don’t worry, wood still has me."

"But what about Uncle Wen? Uncle Wen will also be unhappy, and I don’t want Uncle Wen to be unhappy."

Fu Shinian felt a twinge of jealousy in his heart; after all, this was his own daughter worrying for his rival, which was somewhat difficult to swallow. But when he thought of how well Wen Han had treated Su Mu and Qiqi these years, the discomfort in his heart soon dissipated, and he smiled slightly:

"You don’t have to worry about Uncle Wen; he has Ji Qingluan."

Qiqi’s eyes brightened again:

"You mean, everyone will be happy then, right? Wood has you, Uncle Wen has Sister Ji, and I can marry Brother Shaoyuan."

Fu Shinian nodded, his face breaking into a relieved smile:

"That’s right, so will Qiqi help me?"

Qiqi was supposed to agree, but when she opened her mouth to speak, suddenly she fell silent. She eyed Fu Shinian up and down with the gravity of an adult, as if he were a sly and cunning villain:

"Fu Shinian, why do I feel like you are about to sell me out?"

——

Perhaps because Qiqi was not around today, Su Mu made a lot of progress with her work. She didn’t divide her attention to take care of her, but she would call Qiqi during her breaks to know she was alright, and Su Mu had nothing to worry about.

However, on this day, Su Mu suddenly had an idea, one that Zhou Yaxian had mentioned to her before. She hadn’t given it much thought previously, but now, amidst Fu Shinian’s constant pestering in Jiangcheng City, maybe she and Qiqi returning to Shen City would allow Wen Han to feel more at ease.
