Chapter 362: Chapter 362: You Don’t Need to Understand, Leave Everything to Me

After calming Su Yimo’s emotions, Su Mu took her hand and walked towards Wen Shaoyuan. He stood not far away, watching the two of them without intruding. Seeing that Su Yimo had stopped crying and that they were walking towards him, he smiled faintly and greeted them proactively:

"Aunt Su."

Previously, Wen Han had mentioned that, to avoid worrying the children, the fact that he was injured and hospitalized had been shared only with Zhou Yaxian. But now it seemed that the secret hadn’t been kept after all. Nowadays, you really can’t just treat kids as mere children; in many cases, they’re more attentive and sensitive than adults.

Su Mu returned the smile faintly:

"How did you find out?"

Wen Shaoyuan replied with a light smile, glancing at Su Yimo’s reddened eyes, "I guessed it."

In fact, Wen Shaoyuan had figured it out a while ago, but he kept feigning ignorance: better to just have Qiqi worried than to let her know about Su Mu’s injuries. Occasionally, after hearing Zhou Yaxian say that only Wen Han was hurt, Wen Shaoyuan felt relieved. Seeing Qiqi’s listless demeanor every day tugged at his heartstrings.

So, he confronted Zhou Yaxian directly, and since she could do nothing with the two kids, she had to bring them along. They hadn’t expected to arrive when Su Mu was still resting, and Wen Han had specifically instructed not to disturb Su Mu. Therefore, the children had been waiting patiently in the hallway.

Su Mu nodded and glanced in the direction of Wen Han’s ward:

"Did you come with Grandma?"

"Yes, Grandma is talking with Dad."

Su Mu fell silent for a few seconds, recalling the events that had happened between her and Fu Shinian the previous night. She felt unsure about whether she should enter, but how long could she avoid it? She had volunteered to stay and take care of him; if she left today without even seeing him once, wouldn’t Wen Han expect the worst?

Contemplating this, Su Mu gave a wry smile and took hold of both children’s hands:

"Then let’s go in."

"Okay."

Inside the ward, Wen Han was peeling an apple for Zhou Yaxian. The long peel fell onto the blanket in a technical display. The sound of Su Mu and the children entering startled Wen Han for a moment, causing the perfect apple peel to break. Su Mu saw it and felt it was a shame, oblivious to Zhou Yaxian’s meaningful gaze until Wen Han spoke up:

"Awake?"

Su Mu snapped back to the moment and smiled apologetically, taking steps forward to greet:

"Aunt Zhou."

"Ah," Zhou Yaxian sweetly acknowledged, her expression filled with joy as she looked at Su Mu, surprising her. Before Su Mu could ask, Zhou Yaxian took the lead to explain her curiosity, "Now you call me Aunt Zhou, and I respond. But it won’t be long before you should change how you address me, right?"

For a moment, Su Mu was slow to grasp what Zhou Yaxian meant. But when she caught Wen Han’s smiling gaze, she understood. He had told Zhou Yaxian about their relationship, which came as a surprise to Su Mu.

Although there had been no discussion the day before regarding this matter, Su Mu thought Wen Han knew she didn’t want to let the elders know about their relationship yet, especially since they had agreed that their current arrangement was just a trial period. If they didn’t work out in the future, she didn’t want the elders to be distressed. The lack of sync between her and Wen Han in this matter stunned her; Zhou Yaxian already knew, after just one day.

Seeing Su Mu’s expression, Wen Han guessed her feelings and smiled faintly:

"What’s wrong? Shy?"

Indeed, part of it was shyness, but mostly she felt caught off guard. Nevertheless, she couldn’t show it and instead smiled lightly:

"No, I’m just surprised you told Aunt Zhou so soon."

Zhou Yaxian’s laughter brightened:

"You can’t blame Wen Han; he has his reasons. After all, he has looked forward to this day for so long that his joy simply can’t be hidden. I’m the one who gave birth to him and raised him; one look at his face and I know what he’s thinking without having to guess."

Saying so, she took Su Mu’s hand and gently patted it:

"Susu, you have no idea how happy it makes me that you’ve agreed to be with Wen Han. Our Wen family must have accumulated a great deal of good karma in a past life to have a daughter-in-law like you this time around."

Such praise was overwhelming for Su Mu, who immediately shook her head:

"Aunt Zhou, you’re making me feel unworthy."

"Your virtues speak for themselves, seen clearly by me, Wen Han, and his father. Every word I’ve said comes straight from the heart, with no exaggeration. I’ve held back before because of your and Wen Han’s situation, not wanting to pressure you. But now, I can speak freely."

Su Mu smiled but didn’t know what to say next. Fortunately, Zhou Yaxian had plenty to talk about with Su Mu. She pulled her close to sit down:

"Now that Wen Han is injured and not very mobile, after he gets discharged, you should take Qiqi to our big house. I’ll cook a feast myself. Although we’ve dined together often before, this time it’s different. Even though we’re already so familiar with each other, your Uncle Wen and I still need to make our stance clear."

Su Mu knew Zhou Yaxian was an enthusiastic person, but she hadn’t expected this level of warmth. Faced with such an invitation, she was a bit at a loss but also knew she couldn’t refuse. It was an elder’s kind gesture, after all. She smiled slightly and nodded in acceptance:

"Thank you, Aunt Zhou. Then we’ll be in your care."

"What’s all this about trouble? We’ll be overjoyed to have you and Qiqi at the Wen family home."

While the adults were deep in lively conversation, the two children sat silently on the living room sofa, only able to watch the adults talk. Qiqi, still a child, couldn’t understand their conversation and couldn’t help tugging on Wen Shaoyuan’s sleeve. When he turned to look at her, she spoke softly:

"Brother Shaoyuan, what are they talking about? I don’t understand."

There was a brief silence before Wen Shaoyuan chuckled and gently took her hand:

"It’s a good thing. Aunt Su and my dad are together now."

"Together?" Qiqi blinked. "Haven’t they always been together?"

Wen Shaoyuan smiled faintly:

"Your ’together’ and what I mean by ’together’ are not the same. When I say ’together’, it means we’re going to be a family. Now, I’ll truly be your brother."

Qiqi scratched her head:

"I still don’t quite understand."

Wen Shaoyuan affectionately ruffled her hair, "You don’t have to understand."

I’ll take care of everything.
