Wen Han was somewhat closer to Shi Lihua’s laboratory, so he almost arrived simultaneously with Wei Shaoqin. When Wei Shaoqin got out of the car, he just gave Wen Han a look before heading inside, but Wen Han stopped him:

"Calm down!"

Wei Shaoqin calmed down slightly. He had no experience in this area and was solely worried about Su Mu’s safety, but Wen Han was different. He had a background in special forces and had presumably undertaken countless missions like this one, so he had better assurance. He looked at Wen Han:

"Do you have a plan?"

Wei Shaoqin, who had wanted to argue, was silenced by Wen Han’s last remark:

Stepping into the basement, he saw some light shining through a door not far ahead, still seeing no one. As Wen Han was about to move to the left, suddenly footsteps came from around the corner. Wen Han quickly dodged to hide but saw an emotionally unstable Su Shiyue through the glass window nearby.

Ensuring no one else was with her, Wen Han stepped out. Su Shiyue was startled by his appearance, and if Wen Han hadn’t quickly covered her mouth, her scream might have echoed through the entire laboratory. Wen Han and Su Shiyue had met before; although not familiar, they recognized each other. Seeing Wen Han’s face, Su Shiyue relaxed slightly and patted his hand, signaling him to let go.

Wen Han released her, whispering,

"Where is Su Mu?"

Su Shiyue glanced toward the direction of the corner:

"Inside, but Shi Lihua is also in that direction. If you want to get to Su Mu, you’ll definitely have to get past Shi Lihua."

Wen Han looked in the direction ahead, asking,

"How many people?"

"Only her alone."

Wen Han slightly furrowed his brows; he would have preferred it if there were multiple people guarding. This situation, where she was completely unafraid of anyone coming in to snatch the person, must mean she had grasped Su Mu’s fatal weakness. Wen Han only briefly fell silent for a few seconds before he stepped forward, heading inside. However, Su Shiyue quickly stopped him, cautiously glancing behind:

"If you go over like this, Shi Lihua will see you."

Wen Han gave a faint smile:

"If we are to rescue Su Mu, we’ll be seen sooner or later, won’t we?"

"I can distract her for you."

Wen Han shook his head, "No need. If she’s alone, it means that whether or not we take Su Mu with us, it won’t affect her in any way. If I’m not mistaken, Su Mu must be completely controlled by now, right?"

When Su Shiyue thought about how Su Mu looked when she saw her just before, she fell silent. Seeing her like this, Wen Han felt his guess was confirmed, a pain shot through his heart, but he had no time to ponder further. At this moment, he only wanted to see her quickly, wanting to witness what she was enduring right now.

"I’ll go with you," Su Shiyue said, looking at Wen Han. "Anyway, she won’t do anything to me."

Wen Han nodded.

For Shi Lihua, the return of Su Shiyue was initially joyous, but upon seeing the man behind her, confusion arose. Before she could ask anything, Su Shiyue led Wen Han straight to where Su Mu was. Seeing Su Mu unconscious in the chair, thoughts of the old lady flashed through Wen Han’s mind. He quickly untied the ropes binding Su Mu, calling out to her. Sensing footsteps behind, Wen Han turned to look back.

Shi Lihua stood at the doorway, calmly surveying everything. She looked at Su Shiyue:

"Did you call him here?"

Su Shiyue, her eyes devoid of any warmth, replied: "No matter what, she’s my brother’s woman. I’m taking her away."

Shi Lihua smiled slightly and stepped aside from the doorway:

"In that case, you should leave."

She had gone through great lengths to bring Su Mu here, originally to negotiate with Fu Shinian. Now, she let them take Su Mu away, surely not for fun, but because she was certain that Fu Shinian would come looking, and she would get what she wanted in the end.

Wen Han looked at the unconscious Su Mu, his heart aching deeply, but regardless of whatever deal Shi Lihua and Fu Shinian were trying to strike, it was time to take Su Mu out now.
