Chapter 322: Chapter 322: It’s Not Like I Haven’t Held You Before
Su Mu had nothing to say and looked at Xu Yansu:
"Do you have any objections?"
Xu Yansu had experience in taking photos, but she had never experienced a photoshoot on such a large scale before, and the photographer was well-known. She was inevitably a bit nervous, so initially, she really hoped that Fu Shinian could accompany her. At least she could rely on him emotionally, but he seemed to have no intention of doing so.
"No, I’ll go first."
Su Mu nodded:
"You go stand by the motorcycle first, don’t be nervous. I won’t ask you to do any particular poses, just a few natural shots to relax. Be as comfortable as you like."
Su Mu’s words made Xu Yansu relax a bit, and she nodded:
"Okay, thank you."
After a few photos, Su Mu found that Xu Yansu had a good sense of the camera, especially the first one where she was standing in front of the motorcycle in a casual walking pose, sweeping her long hair from front to back with one hand. Her slit long skirt subtly revealed her long legs, as she looked down at the messy ground, with light shining in from the window, enveloping her.
Su Mu never specified any particular actions for the subject in her photographs; she would only convey the feeling she wanted and an expected image to the subject, allowing them to perform freely, which is why the people in her photos always appeared the most natural and real.
Xu Yansu was feeling more comfortable as the shoot progressed, and they even used props like beer, dry ice, and a baseball bat. She gradually found her groove, with each photo turning out better than the last.
Fu Shinian had been quietly watching from behind. Whether it was three years ago or now, it seemed like the first time Fu Shinian had seen Su Mu work. She was serious, precise, focused, and passionate, as if she was born for photography.
The entire single photo session took less than an hour. Feeling it was sufficient, Su Mu called for a break. She didn’t look at Fu Shinian but shouted:
"Next set, double photo."
At the computer, Su Mu invited Xu Yansu to come over and look at the semi-finished photos. Xu Yansu went through them one by one, loving every single one. She joyfully grasped Su Mu’s hand:
"I knew I was right to insist. You definitely captured the effect I wanted."
"This is my specialty, of course, I am good at it." Su Mu subtly withdrew her hand and smiled slightly: "This setting is almost done. We’ll take some more shots with you and your fiancé, and then move on to the next set."
"Okay."
Su Mu smiled faintly and walked towards the crew setting the stage, discussing the props required for the next session. Just as she thought the resting time was about right to start shooting the next set, Xu Yansu hurried over looking very apologetic:
"I’m so sorry, Miss Su. There was an accident at my institute, and I must rush back now. I’m afraid we can’t proceed with the shoot today."
Su Mu: "..."
Today really was a day full of calamities. Su Mu felt an urge to get angry but still managed to restrain herself. After all, from Xu Yansu’s perspective, she was also regretful. Her affection for Fu Shinian wasn’t feigned; she truly wished to complete this wedding photo shoot with him, but reality did not permit it.
"It’s okay."
"Thank you for your understanding, I am really sorry for delaying you and the entire team. However, I will ensure it wasn’t all for nothing."
Su Mu responded indifferently, not taking it to heart, and said:
"Since that’s the case, we have no other choice but to wrap up here. I just can’t promise you the next shooting date because I have many other jobs to attend to."
"I know, I know." Xu Yansu still felt very embarrassed, "I will communicate with your assistant about the subsequent arrangements. I will wait, no matter when, rest assured."
Su Mu nodded faintly, "You can go first; I am also about to wrap up here."
After Xu Yansu left, Su Mu stood in front of the computer to review the semi-finished products of today’s shoot. Although the outcome was unpredictable, fortunately, the effect was good. It was just a pity about the scenery they had set up, but there was no other way. She called Lin Ning:
"Tell everyone to wrap up."
Before Lin Ning could respond, a voice interjected:
"Wrap up? Has the great photographer Su Mu forgotten about me?"
Su Mu subconsciously looked towards Fu Shinian, frowning slightly, puzzled as to why he was still here; but a scan of the area no longer showed any sign of Xu Yansu. Could it be that only Xu Yansu had left?
"Why are you still here?"
"Aren’t we supposed to take photos? My session isn’t finished yet. Shouldn’t I be here?"
Su Mu looked at him without saying a word until he got up from the lounge chair and walked over. Then Su Mu let out a light laugh, whether she wanted to admit it or not, she had to accept the reality before her: Fu Shinian seemingly had no intention of letting her go.
He stood very close to her, his gaze intent upon her:
"What, is the great photographer Su Mu afraid to take the shot?"
"You don’t need to provoke me. I will do my job naturally," Su Mu met his gaze, "regardless of who the other party is, and whether I want to see them or not."
Fu Shinian curled his lips into a light smile:
"That’s good then."
Seeing this, Lin Ning quietly left, allowing everyone to continue preparing. Su Mu suppressed all her anger, turned around, and started recalibrating the camera, but her heart was no longer as calm as it had been at the beginning.
Who told her that Fu Shinian had been seriously ill these past two years? Who told her that Fu Shinian was only a name now, actually a broke man? But looking at the man standing in front of her, radiant and commanding, where was there any sign of downfall?
As Su Mu was lost in thought, Fu Shinian didn’t leave but instead stepped closer to her. From afar, his chest was already close to her back. He watched her hands move and chuckled lightly:
"What are you thinking?"
Su Mu was startled, but more than that, she felt a deep aversion to contact with Fu Shinian. She almost reflexively tried to escape from the man before her, but behind her was only a makeshift table holding computers and cameras, which might be damaged if she stumbled into it. To avoid unnecessary damage, Fu Shinian quickly caught her by the waist, pulling her tightly into his embrace.
"Be careful."
They had been intimately close countless times, but even during Su Mu’s periods of emotional detachment, she had never felt such aversion to him like she did at this moment. After realizing it, she immediately pushed him away and withdrew from his embrace as if he were some lethal virus she could not touch.
Fu Shinian’s expression was unsurprised, as if he had anticipated being treated this way by Su Mu; he just smiled faintly:
"It’s not like we haven’t been close before. What are you avoiding?"
