Chapter 307: Chapter 307: Running Away from Home, Searching for Dad

This time, Su Yimo didn’t want to go, and Su Mu didn’t force her. She left her with the other staff in the studio and went to the photo studio with Lin Ning. This had happened countless times before, but this time an incident occurred that Su Mu nearly couldn’t accept.

As the shoot was approaching its end, Lin Ning hurriedly ran up to Su Mu after receiving a call:

"Sister Su, Qiqi is missing."

Su Mu stood stunned for two seconds before she grasped what the words "missing" meant. She looked at Lin Ning, and her entire body started to panic uncontrollably, "What happened?"

"Lingling said that Qiqi was playing with a group of kids in the small square in front of the studio as usual. Meanwhile, there was an issue with a customer’s photo, so she went back to resend it. But by the time she came back out, Qiqi’s figure was nowhere to be found in the small square. She has searched everywhere nearby and still couldn’t find her. The police have been informed, and they’ve already gone over."

Su Mu was supposed to be strong. After all, this was the time for her to stay calm. Panicking wouldn’t solve any problems—finding Qiqi was of the utmost importance. Yet, she found herself unable to move her feet as if she were nailed to the ground, motionless. Her camera slid from her hands, and it would have smashed if Lin Ning hadn’t caught it quickly. The damage to the camera would have been the least of her worries—she was more afraid it would hurt her bare feet.

Lin Ning understood Su Mu’s feelings and immediately asked the driver to take Su Mu back to the studio while she went to communicate with the "little fresh meat’s" side. Initially, they disagreed and even refused to allow Su Mu to leave, but Lin Ning, suppressing all patience, promised them a free shoot in the future, which finally appeased them.

The driver was also aware of what had happened at the studio, so he drove very fast, even running two red lights. Su Mu had already calmed down and kept calling Su Yimo. The phone was connecting, but Su Yimo didn’t answer even once.

This inexplicably filled her with fear, as if she were standing on the edge of an abyss, awaiting a message that could spell her doom.

When the phone rang, Su Mu subconsciously answered it, not even checking the caller’s name:

"Qiqi! Qiqi, where are you?"

Wen Han had just arrived in Jiangcheng City and had intended to visit Su Mu. However, upon connecting the call and hearing Su Mu’s distressed voice, he sensed something was off:

"Su Mu, what happened to you?"

Before Su Mu had the chance to speak a few words to the police upon rushing back to the studio, Wen Han was already there. He stayed by Su Mu’s side, answering the police’s questions. Afterward, he spoke privately with the authorities. Su Mu didn’t know what he had said, but she could feel the police’s demeanor become instantly more serious and cautious, which gave her some peace of mind.

Wen Han returned to Su Mu’s side:

"You first take the studio staff to look around the vicinity. I’ll go to check the nearby surveillance footage to see if there are any clues."

"Okay, I’ll go right now. Call me if there’s any news."

Wen Han nodded:

"Don’t worry, whatever the outcome, I won’t let anything happen to Qiqi."

Su Mu looked at him gratefully and left.

Su Mu was now calm. After going through disbelief and a breakdown, she had calmed down. She was able to do what Wen Han had asked her to do in a collected manner and describe to the police in detail what Qiqi was wearing that day.

It wasn’t because she didn’t care, but because she wanted to do more. If she were in a state of emotional collapse, neither the police nor Wen Han would trust her to look for Qiqi. And in that state, she wouldn’t be of any help in finding Qiqi.

Qiqi was already very familiar with the studio’s surroundings, but even so, she was just a three-year-old child who could occasionally get lost. Despite searching everywhere they could think of with the studio staff, Su Mu still didn’t find a trace of Qiqi.

It had been over an hour since Qiqi’s disappearance. If she were simply lost, she wouldn’t have gone far. Now, Su Mu feared that another, more dangerous situation might have occurred.

After checking all the nearby surveillance footage, Wen Han found traces of Qiqi. She had not gone elsewhere, nor had she been kidnapped. Instead, she just walked down the road in front of the studio and entered a police station.

Because the police station that received the missing report and the one Qiqi entered were not in the same jurisdiction, the police in Su Mu’s area had not yet received any news. After seeing Qiqi on the footage, Wen Han breathed a sigh of relief. He called Su Mu, and then he directly rushed to the police station.

In the station, Qiqi sat on a bench, head bowed, with a female officer by her side holding a lollipop and seemingly trying to talk to her, but without much success. In Wen Han’s memory, Qiqi was always polite and sensible, hardly ever in such a non-responsive state, but now she was silent and unresponsive, as if she was autistic.

Wen Han explained his purpose to the nearby officer and showed his identification. The officer looked at it and seemed to relax:

"I’m so glad you family members could come. The child has been here for over an hour, just saying she wants to find Daddy. Later, she probably felt we couldn’t help her and has just been sitting there ever since, not saying a word."

Wen Han was momentarily stunned, but still softly thanked them. After putting away his credentials, he stepped forward and slowly squatted in front of her. The female officer stood up, leaving the area to them.

Wen Han gently took Qiqi’s hand resting on her knee and caressed it:

"Qiqi, your mom and I have been very worried about you."

Qiqi slowly looked up at Wen Han, her eyes quickly reddening. Just as Wen Han was at a loss, she suddenly threw herself into his arms and clung to him tightly. Her strength wasn’t great, but Wen Han was caught off guard and almost fell over. By the time he steadied himself, Qiqi was already sobbing uncontrollably in his embrace.

Wen Han had never seen Qiqi cry like this, not even when she was born.

When Su Mu walked in, that was the scene she saw. She did not immediately approach them to embrace Su Yimo, neither did she speak up to disturb them nor ask why she had run here or why she was crying. She just stood by the door, her eyes inexplicably reddening.

Those questions weren’t important. She didn’t care about them. As long as Su Yimo could come back to her, as long as she was safe and sound, everything would be okay.
