Chapter 299: Chapter 299 Have I met you somewhere before?
Qiao Yu heard the words and let out a soft sigh:
"You’ve lived your whole life for the old lady, even sacrificing your own marriage for her. But have you ever considered if the old lady was in her right mind, would she let you do this? What’s the use of her waking up now? To see you marrying someone else she doesn’t even know? Do you think she could accept that?"
"She’ll have to accept it even if she can’t."
"You’re not the old lady, how can you possibly know what she’s thinking? If she knew that your marriage and divorce with Su Mu were all because of her, she’d probably be so mad she’d faint again." Fu Shinian said nothing, and Qiao Yu fell silent for a few seconds, but some things still had to be said:
"You know, the old lady had a kidney transplant a few years ago, and the survival rate after such surgery generally decreases as more time passes. It’s been five years now, and given the old lady’s age, even if the virus in her body is entirely cleared, I’m afraid... she won’t have much longer."
Fu Shinian listened quietly without saying another word, and Qiao Yu didn’t push him to make any decision, believing that Fu Shinian had his own standards to weigh things.
After spending a week in Shen City, Su Mu returned to Jiangcheng City. Wen Shaoyuan intended for Su Yimo to stay in Jiangcheng City with her, which made Su Yimo very conflicted. But in the end, she chose to go with Su Mu, saying:
"Shaoyuan, even without Qiqi, you still have Uncle Wen and your grandparents, but Mu only has me."
If Su Mu had heard this at the time, she would certainly have agreed to let Su Yimo stay in Shen City, but in reality, she knew nothing about this. When the suggestion to come back was made, Su Yimo showed no other emotions and obediently packed her bags to return with her.
However, on the way back, she seemed somewhat dejected. Su Mu gently stroked her hair:
"Does Qiqi not want to return to Jiangcheng City?"
"No, I will go wherever Mu goes."
Su Mu smiled slightly:
"Your birthday is coming up soon. How about we come back here for your birthday and celebrate it with Shaoyuan in Shen City?"
Stars began to appear in Su Yimo’s eyes:
"Really?"
"Mm, mommy won’t lie to you. By that time, Shaoyuan will also be on summer vacation, and you can stay in Shen City for a longer period."
"What about Mu? Will Mu stay with Qiqi?"
Su Mu looked at her with a smile: "If I have the time, I certainly will."
After briefly settling back into Jiangcheng City, Su Mu took Su Yimo to the photography studio. Lin Ning hadn’t called her, so she thought the studio would be quiet, but to her surprise, there were clients there.
At first, Su Mu didn’t pay attention, as, in addition to the magazine company’s business, other clients often came in for photos. Su Mu usually left these to the other photographers unless it was too busy. It was only as she walked through the reception hall towards the upstairs office with Su Yimo that Lin Ning saw her through the glass window, said something to the client in the meeting room, and then came out.
"Sister Su." Lin Ning called to stop her, and then looked at the adorable Su Yimo beside her: "Qiqi."
Su Mu smiled slightly:
"Is there a client?"
"Yes, the one I called you about when you were in Aix last time. The date hadn’t been set before, so I didn’t contact you. They’ve confirmed the date now and have come to sign the contract."
Su Mu nodded:
"Okay, you handle it. I’ll take Qiqi upstairs first."
"Sister Su." Lin Ning said, "The other party would like to meet you."
"Meet me?"
"Yes, they said they want to discuss the shooting content and their ideas with you."
Su Mu remembered that Lin Ning had mentioned over the phone that the other party had no requirements, but with a price of 100,000 yuan per photo, Su Mu also knew it couldn’t really be without demands, unless the person was foolish and excessively wealthy. Su Mu had intended to communicate beforehand, but since the other party had come and wanted to see her, it seemed better to meet sooner rather than later.
"Okay, you take Qiqi with you, and I’ll go in and have a look."
"Sure."
When Su Mu pushed the door open and entered the reception room, she immediately spotted a long-haired woman with her back to her, looking at the photography works on the wall. From just a silhouette, Su Mu couldn’t tell much, but the woman had a great figure, tall and slender—the fashionable and gaunt beauty of the moment.
"Hello," Su Mu was the first to speak, "I’m Su Mu."
The moment the other party turned around upon hearing her, Su Mu had a moment of bewilderment. She had only seen this face once before, yet unexpectedly, she still remembered it vividly a year later, which slightly surprised and displeased her, especially since she thought she had forgotten and didn’t care.
Upon seeing Su Mu, Xu Yansu immediately revealed a perfect smile:
"Hello, I thought I might not see you today, but it looks like my luck isn’t too bad."
Su Mu quickly regained her composure, asked the other party to sit down, and took the seat that Lin Ning had just vacated. A contract was on the table; Su Mu flipped through it and saw that Lin Ning had already signed, indicating that the agreement was already in effect. Rejecting this job might be somewhat troublesome.
Noticing Su Mu’s action, Xu Yansu explained:
"I should’ve come earlier to sign the contract, but my fiancé has been unwell, so I had to discuss the shooting date several times. Fortunately, everything is resolved now."
Su Mu smiled and nodded but didn’t know what to say.
Is there anything more ironic in this world? An ex-wife as the photographer for her ex-husband and his current partner’s bridal photoshoot—wouldn’t even TV dramas dare not to script such a scenario? Yet Su Mu had encountered this reality, with an assistant who signed the contract none the wiser.
Seeing that Su Mu remained silent, Xu Yansu thought there might be some issue with the contract and asked with concern:
"Is there a problem?"
Su Mu shook her head:
"Nothing. I was just pondering how to capture the bridal photos you’re expecting."
"I can’t help with that, I’m afraid. It’s up to you to think it through. I only have one request, and that’s for it to be beautiful."
Su Mu smiled again and fell silent.
Xu Yansu, however, had no other thoughts. She didn’t know Su Mu, nor was she aware of her identity. She thought that a lack of sociability might just be a trait all artists should have, so she didn’t think much of it. But Su Mu was somewhat different from what she had imagined—very fashionable, very beautiful, and even though there was not a single piece of clothing with a prominent logo on her, it was a taste that anyone discerning would admire at first glance.
Yet Xu Yansu felt that Su Mu would be better suited with long hair, which would make her more feminine and alluring.
The longer Xu Yansu’s gaze lingered on Su Mu’s face, the more familiar Su Mu seemed to become, prompting her to ask:
"Miss Su, have I seen you somewhere before?"
